The #1 app on the IOS App Store is a "Tea", which is a platform where women can anonymously post "red flags" and unverified accusations about men they’ve dated, including their names, photos, and personal information. This app has been downloaded by millions of women too.
But that's just the tip of the iceberg. One of the advertised features is finding a guy's address just by inputting their phone number. They also make you verify if you're a woman by taking a selfie.
Men publicly identified on the app have no way to respond or even know they’ve been mentioned. Your life can essentially be ruined if a woman feels like. At minimum, your dating life is cooked. But this could be used to dox you, to spread malicious lies about you, and to destroy you.
One last point I’ll make about the Ukrainian crackdown on anti-corruption organizations is that many of these groups also served as instruments of EU-led oversight and control over Ukraine following 2014 coup. After the removal of the pro-Russian president and the weakening of Russian influence within the country, Ukraine did not gain true independence—instead, it merely exchanged one set of patrons for another.
This is why the EU and certain neoconservative elements in the United States are furious about the recent developments. What they lost was not just a handful of NGOs, but a key mechanism of influence that had been carefully installed after the Euromaidan coup. These institutions were not solely about combating corruption; they were also about embedding Western leverage deep within Ukraine's political system.
They often operated in parallel to the Ukrainian state, without being directly accountable to it, and theoretically had the power to bring down Zelensky or any other official deemed insufficiently pro-EU by mobilizing the Ukrainian civic society and criminal Justice apparatuses with evidence of corruption. Nonetheless, while dismantling them may reduce foreign influence, it also eliminates the most effective tool for monitoring Ukraine’s notoriously corrupt elite and the real reason for the crackdown seems to be that these organizations began investigating individuals close to Zelensky himself. Not that Zelensky wanted “real independence” or whatever.
TLDR: Another Flawless Pvtler Victory 🇺🇦✌️

Читать полностью…According to 2024 data, Ukraine is classified as a hybrid regime, bordering on an authoritarian one, while Russia is firmly categorized as an authoritarian regime.
The last time Ukraine was considered a flawed democracy was in 2010, during the power transition from Yushchenko to Yanukovych. Russia, on the other hand, slid into authoritarianism in 2018—initially bordering on a hybrid regime—before briefly recovering, only to solidify its status as a fully authoritarian state by 2022. Russia was never considered a flawed democracy but in 2006 was close to it.
Russians might argue that, at the very least, they are still allowed to travel freely in and out of the country and aren’t being forcefully conscripted against their will. However, Ukrainians can also make a strong case that they still enjoy greater freedoms than Russians—one example of which I’ve already mentioned.
But certainly, we should probably stop pretending that Ukraine is democratic if we’re honest and view it as late 2010s Russia.
SHOCKER: well educated and upper income people are actually more judgmental and conservative minded 🤯

In contrast, independent and USAID-funded Russian anti-corruption organizations have been banned for over four years, and they never had as much influence as their Ukrainian counterparts did.
So whenever Russians mock Ukraine for being totalitarian, they should remember that their own country is still one or two steps further down that path.
Ukraine has been sliding more and more towards authoritarianism ever since Zelensky’s ascension, but it is nowhere near Russia’s level. It is certainly far more authoritarian than under Yanukovych or early 2010s Russia, but nowhere near the current level of absurdity.
