The meeting went splendidly. No ceasefire, no truce. “A deal isn’t a deal until it’s a deal,” summed up Trump. All participants are describing the remarkable summit in Alaska as a total triumph.

MAGA in the U.S. is rejoicing: this, finally, is once again the Trump we elected. Peace with Russia is far more important than the fate of Ukraine. While on the issues of Israel and the release of Epstein’s lists Trump had fully taken the position of the neocons and essentially the Deep State, this time he acted in the exact opposite way. For the first time, even Epstein was momentarily forgotten.

For MAGA, ending the enmity with Moscow was one of Trump’s key campaign promises. And in Alaska, everything played out exactly as the MAGA imagination had demanded: a strict, self-confident America; composed and tactful Russians, who also know their worth.

Nothing to add, nothing to take away.
And until the next wave comes — which may prove less appealing and successful — one can enjoy what has taken place and how it all went.

Every now and then, I tend to indulge myself in normie-conservative literature, mainly because I don't totally reject the ideas these Con Inc. intellectuals have to offer. Therefore, here is my summary of "The Housing Boom and Bust" by Thomas Sowell:

Thomas Sowell argues that the 2008 housing crisis was not simply the result of “Wall Street greed” or a spontaneous market collapse. Instead, it was the predictable outcome of political decisions, government interventions, and misguided policies that distorted the housing market over decades.

Sowell blames a few parties: Local and State Governments, Federal Government (Congress & Federal Agencies), Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, Wall Street, and the Federal Reserve. Here is how they all contributed, according to Sowell:

State and local governments restricted land for building through zoning, environmental, and "smart growth" efforts, which drove housing prices in high-demand markets far beyond construction costs. Then on the national level, lawmakers and regulators promoted expanded homeownership (most notably by lower-income and riskier borrowers) through such means as the Community Reinvestment Act and direct influence on institutions, and government-sponsored agencies Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac aggressively bought and guaranteed risky mortgages, which increased demand for subprime loans. Meanwhile, the Fed maintained abnormally low interest rates in the early 2000s, which kept borrowing cheap and fueling speculative buying. Finally, Wall Street magnified the risk by securitizing those subprime mortgages into exotic securities and selling them globally, at times overvalued, spreading fragility throughout the world financial system (Read the book "The Big Short" for more details on this).

Pretty solid book. In my opinion, very valuable.
