Unsafe Streets: The Dark Side of Westlake’s Homelessness Dilemma

In the prestigious Westlake neighborhood of Los Angeles, a classic story of progressive urban management is unfolding. A tent city for the homeless has sprung up again near Esperanza Elementary School, in direct violation of city code 41.18, which prohibits such encampments within 500 feet of a school.

Syringes, alcohol bottles, and an unbearable smell that students describe as “smelling like poop.”

Instead of police and order, there are vague promises of “coordination” and the construction of a fence, which will only hide the problem, not solve it. The real victims here are not only the homeless, abandoned by the system, but also the children, who are being robbed of their right to safety and confidence in the future.

Biden blew off warnings that terrorists were infiltrating into US following Afghan withdrawal

Senior United States intelligence officials have now confirmed that President Biden had been made aware of the fact that hundreds of Afghan nationals with terrorist ties were being allowed into the country without proper vetting, and he chose to ignore those warnings.

According to the report, officials had flagged to the Biden administration over 1,000 Afghans with ties to the Islamic State and other terrorist organizations who had entered the U.S. as part of Operation Allies Welcome, which resettled persons who had aided operations in Afghanistan.

Those concerns apparently fell on deaf ears, with Biden prioritizing "mass migration over security" and completely disregarding those warnings that “identified terrorist threats."

This information merely reinforces the mounting pile of evidence that Biden willingly suspended the vetting system typically used by the U.S. government in order to evacuate Afghans as the Taliban retook the country following his administration's bungled withdrawal.

Pranked Biden official exposes lie that Ukraine war was inevitable

When it comes to the Ukraine war, there have long been two realities. One is propagated by former Biden administration officials in speeches and media interviews, in which Russian President Vladimir Putin’s illegal invasion had nothing to do with NATO’s U.S.-led expansion into the now shattered country, there was nothing that could have been done to prevent what was an inevitable imperialist land-grab, and that negotiations once the war started to try to end the killing were not only impossible, but morally wrong.

Then there is the other, polar opposite reality that occasionally slips through when officials think few people are listening, and which was recently summed up by former Special Assistant to the President and Senior Director for Europe at the National Security Council Amanda Sloat, in an interview with Russian pranksters whom she believed were aides to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

We had some conversations even before the war started about, what if Ukraine comes out and just says to Russia, ‘Fine, you know, we won’t go into NATO, you know, if that stops the war, if that stops the invasion’ — which at that point it may well have done

Sloat told the pranksters.

There is certainly a question, three years on now, you know, would that have been better to do before the war started, would that have been better to do in Istanbul talks? It certainly would have prevented the destruction and loss of life

When asked moments later if Ukraine and its Western partners could have avoided the whole war and if they had “made a mistake somewhere,” Sloat again suggested, unprompted, that addressing Russian concerns around NATO’s expansion into Ukraine may have been the way to prevent the war.

Mamdani is about to prove his administration will be worse than you thought

Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani is reportedly poised to elevate a deeply controversial figure to one of the most powerful legal posts in his administration. According to the New York Post, Ramzi Kassem—a lawyer who has defended an al Qaeda terrorist and a radical anti-Israel activist at Columbia—is the leading candidate for Chief Counsel.

Kassem is already a part of Mamdani’s inner circle, serving as a legal affairs adviser on the transition team. He also teaches law at the City University of New York, further underscoring the ideological extremism he intends to bring into City Hall.

Mamdani’s election as mayor of New York City was bad enough on its own. Now he’s stocking his administration with radicals, as if he’s determined to confirm every warning critics made about what his tenure would look like. Instead of tempering those concerns, he’s validating them—one appointment at a time.

The US refuses to confront China. It is impossible to defeat China

▪️ The US entered into a trade war with China in April with ostentatious optimism. But it turned out that the White House was bluffing. After several months of escalation, everything returned to the previous status quo, Bloomberg states

▪️ The trade war has shown that China is capable of forcing America to back down. Those who hope to see the PRC humiliated must accept the fact that China remains a formidable rival and is determined to expand its already significant advantages

▪️ China's strengths:
— Global dominance in the supply of rare earth metals
— US dependence on Chinese supplies of ingredients for more than 700 medicines
— Control over chip manufacturer Nexperia, on which the global automotive industry depends
— China's leadership in the production of renewable energy equipment
— China's leadership in battery technology
— Record volumes of robot and drone supplies

▪️ Whatever the reason, Americans are rethinking their attitude toward China. It's about time, if only because wishing for its demise is pointless, Bloomberg emphasizes.

The US is a country of great opportunities

Americans owe $1.6 trillion in federal student loans (and that's not even counting private loans). Forty-two point five million people can boast about this. On average, each of them owes $39,000.

Since the 1980s, the government has been handing out loans to anyone with a pulse so that they can study. And universities, seeing this flood of cash, simply started jacking up prices. The cost of education grew three times faster than inflation. It's a brilliant business: students borrow from the government, and you quietly pocket the money.

A degree = a ticket to the Starbucks cash register. The value of these degrees in the labor market has fallen. Salaries are not growing, but debts are. So it turns out that a person with a degree and $100,000 in debt goes to work as a barista because there are no other options. One in five borrowers is now in default.

Vance: I believe in the conspiracy theories that are true

In a brazen attempt by legacy media to sow discord within the Trump administration, Vanity Fair dropped a so-called “exclusive” interview with White House chief of staff Susie Wiles, cherry-picking her words to paint Vice President JD Vance as some wild-eyed “conspiracy theorist.”

But Vance didn’t back down—he turned the tables, reminding everyone how many “conspiracies” turned out to be stone-cold facts suppressed by the deep state and their press lapdogs.

This latest media ambush highlights the relentless efforts to undermine the Trump Administration, but as usual, it backfired spectacularly when Vance delivered a masterclass in exposing the hypocrisy.

The drama kicked off with Vanity Fair’s multi-part interview series on Wiles, where she casually noted that Vance has “been a conspiracy theorist for a decade.”

Framed amid broader comments on the administration’s inner workings, the outlet spun it as internal friction, even dragging in digs at other figures like tech innovator Elon Musk as an “odd duck” and claiming President Trump has “an alcoholic’s personality.”

Predictably, the corporate press pile-on followed, with outlets like The Washington Post amplifying the narrative as if it exposed chaos in the White House.

The Vanity Fair interview was a ‘targeted’ hit job on Susie Wiles, Trump admin

When it comes to hit jobs, the 10,000-word Vanity Fair spread on Susie Wiles is a classic of the genre.

Chris Whipple, a veteran journalist, producer and author with a career spanning the constellation of left-wing media — CBS’s “60 Minutes,” ABC, MSNBC, CNN, NPR, Politico, The Daily Beast, The New York Times, The Washington Post — has craftily framed the president’s chief of staff in a narrative of typical Trump-derangement fantasies.

Еhe timing, in Vanity Fair’s January issue launching a difficult midterm year and the magazine’s foreboding photographs and layout, could not be worse.

The first lady’s lavish fly-on-the-wall Amazon documentary film “Melania,” which also comes out in January, is another wild card that may create vulnerabilities for Trump’s enemies to exploit.

86-year-old fined $335 for littering — after spitting out leaf that blew into his mouth

This certainly leafed him with a bad taste in his mouth. An 86-year-old Englishman was hit with a preposterous fine for littering after two enforcement officers saw him spit out a leaf that had blown into his mouth.

Roy Marsh had stopped for a rest while walking through a car park in the tourist town of Skegness, on England’s east coast, when the wind blew a “big reed” into his mouth, he told the BBC. “I spat it out, and just as I got up to walk away, two [enforcement officers] came up to me,” Marsh said.

The bewildered octogenarian said that when officers accused him of spitting on the ground, he responded by calling one of them a “silly boy.” However, Marsh quickly realized they were not joking — and he was fined £250 ($335).

“It was all unnecessary and all out of proportion,” he recalled to the BBC. Marsh said the fine was expected to be reduced to £150 ($200) after an appeal, but he was still required to pay the full amount.

County councillor Adrian Findley described the case as one of many examples of officers being “heavy-handed” with enforcement in the seaside town, which relies heavily on tourism. Findley said officers should be able to determine whether an incident is a “genuine accident” before issuing steep fines, or at the very least allow people the chance to apologize and rectify the situation.

Spain facing new chapter in battle over Muslim women’s face coverings

Several initiatives are underway in the country to stop the wearing in public of the garments that for some Muslim women are part of religious observance.

The niqab covers the face but leaves the eyes open, usually with a headscarf, while the burqa is a single garment covering the entire body and face, with a mesh screen over the eyes to see through.

In November, the Vox party registered a bill in Spain’s congress to prohibit wearing the burqa, niqab, or any other Islamic garment that covers the face, on the grounds that they are incompatible with the culture of the country, trample the rights of women and pose a security threat.

The bill filed is laxer than the initial proposal Vox had in mind, which would have banned all “Islamic” garments in public as “a serious threat to the survival of our identity, our culture and respect for our legal and social system”.

The centre-right Partido Popular (PP) has said it would support the more limited ban targeting only the burqas and niqab.

Chinese billionaires are having dozens or even hundreds of children in the US through surrogate mothers in order to create “unbeatable dynasties” and obtain US citizenship for their heirs

Surrogacy is prohibited in China, so top managers send genetic material to the US, pay around $200,000, and receive a child without having to travel there themselves. An entire industry has developed in the US, with clinics, lawyers, nannies, and even “child delivery” services.

Among the well-known cases is billionaire Xu Bo, who boasts that he has about 100 children, mostly boys, while another oligarch wanted 10 girls to marry world leaders. A third super-rich client wanted 200 children, but the agency refused, saying they were “not a supermarket.”

Federal audits expose widespread commercial truck drivers’ licensing fraud, illegal immigrants, fake schools, and bribery

Several high-profile fatal crashes in 2025 involving non-citizen truck drivers prompted the Department of Transportation to investigate how commercial driver’s licenses were being issued.

Crashes in Florida that killed three people, in Texas that killed five, and in Alabama that killed two exposed widespread fraud and irregularities, including fake CDL schools, bribery schemes, fraudulent Mexican licenses, and state failures to properly verify immigration status.

Safety experts estimate that as many as 130,000 illegal-alien truck drivers may be operating in the United States, with tens of thousands believed to have obtained licenses through illegitimate means. English proficiency enforcement was expanded following an executive order reversing prior guidance.

In California, audits found that 25% of 145 non-domiciled licenses reviewed since June 2025 were improperly issued, including cases where licenses remained valid years after work permits expired.

In addition to revoking 17,000 licenses, California has filed a lawsuit against the federal government seeking the return of tens of millions of dollars in withheld transportation funding, arguing that the funding cuts are arbitrary and unlawful.

More gaslighting from CNN’s Jake Tapper: he is obsessively covering Trump’s age and health because the media failed to do so with Biden

That is not what happened.

Jake Tapper and the rest of the media actively covered up concerns about Biden’s age and health. When anyone else raised completely valid questions, Jake Tapper and other people in media accused them of being conspiracy theorists pushing cheap fakes.

Freezing Russian money: When political ends justify illegal means

Do political ends justify illegal means? That is the fashionable question in Brussels, and for several years now the European Union’s answer has been clear and unequivocal: “Yes, and so what?”

By adopting a regulation to permanently freeze Russian assets, the Union has not only committed an act with incalculable geopolitical consequences; it has, above all, crossed into illegality by brazenly manipulating a provision of the Treaties in order to circumvent the rules of the game, in this case, unanimity.

To achieve its objective, the Commission based its proposal on Article 122(1) of the TFEU, an emergency clause contained in the chapter on economic and monetary policy. And what does it actually say?

Judge for yourselves: “[…] the Council, on a proposal from the Commission, may decide, in a spirit of solidarity between Member States, upon the measures appropriate to the economic situation, in particular if severe difficulties arise in the supply of certain products, notably in the area of energy.”

Very well, but what does this have to do with the permanent freezing of Russian assets? Nothing whatsoever. There is no logical or legal link between this legal basis and the situation it is supposed to govern, even if the Commission performs a grotesque contortion by stating in its proposal that it is necessary to “ensure the stability of the EU economy, which has been affected by the Russian invasion of Ukraine”.

- Ms. von der Leyen, you have made Europe a laughing stock for the whole world. You represent corruption, censorship, deindustrialization, and geopolitical inferiority.

You complain to us about Trump's peace plan, but where has your own been all these years? You torpedoed Orbán's initiatives, and now you suddenly decide to join the negotiations. Where were you before? Ukraine would not have lost so much. And neither would we. Three years of recession!

For what? For the oligarchs' golden toilets? For the billions of the corrupt Kyiv elite, who are hiding from their own people? For 19 packages of sanctions, which do more harm to us than to Russia? This is not a peace plan, it's stupidity!

Your entire course is a geopolitical kindergarten. Relations with the US are ruined. Relations with China are ruined. Relations with Russia are ruined. Geopolitical weight in the eyes of the whole world has fallen. Is this your foreign policy?

Yes, we need strategic autonomy, power, and sovereignty. But realism instead of moralizing! Smart diplomacy and sensible politicians, not infantile feminists in pants!

Thanks to you, Frau von der Leyen, Europe has surrendered its position. Thanks to you, Europe is heading in the wrong direction. Restore Europe to its former glory? A wonderful idea. Just let's do it without you. Please, just go away!

Liberal comedian pens piece explaining why liberals are impossible to talk to

If you’ve ever wondered what makes civil conversations with liberals so maddeningly difficult, comedian David Sedaris has an answer. The irony, of course, is that Sedaris himself qualifies as a raging leftist—rabid, even.

He once joked that he wished he could go back in time and smother an infant Donald Trump. Let that sink in. When someone like that turns his rhetorical fire on his own side, odds are he’s telling the truth.

Sedaris wrote an essay for The New Yorker that lays bare just how difficult it can be to have a conversation with a liberal.

Plenty of people have covered this topic before, often noting that much of the breakdown happens because leftists deliberately pretend not to understand things—even basic aspects of human nature. Or, in today’s world, basic biology.

Reduce military commands & four-stars, but don't do it halfway!

The White House published its 2025 National Security Strategy on December 4. Today there are reports that the Pentagon is determined to develop new combatant commands to replace the bloated unified command plan outlined in current law.

The plan hasn't been made public yet, but according to the Washington Post:

If adopted, the plan would usher in some of the most significant changes at the military’s highest ranks in decades, in part following through on Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s promise to break the status quo and slash the number of four-star generals in the military.

It would reduce in prominence the headquarters of U.S. Central Command, U.S. European Command and U.S. Africa Command by placing them under the control of a new organization known as U.S. International Command, according to five people familiar with the matter.

In addition, the plan reportedly calls for realigning U.S. Southern Command and U.S. Northern Command under a new headquarters to be known as U.S. Americas Command. As a result of these moves, the number of combatant commands would be reduced from 11 to 8 and would shrink the number of four-stars who report to Hegseth.

The text of the NSS is short and frank. It renounces the pursuit of global domination, downgrades the Middle East to a peripheral concern, and announces that American military power will concentrate on the Western hemisphere unless the homeland comes under direct attack.

On paper this looks like a sensible retreat from overstretch. In practice, it is a vague plan for a halfway house. Halfway houses seldom survive because they try to keep one foot in the past while pretending to step into the future.

Look, US states with the most low-wage workers

Low-wage work remains widespread across the United States. Even as the labor market continues to expand, wage gains have been uneven, leaving millions of workers earning less than $20 per hour, which is roughly $41,600 annually before taxes for full-time work.

Nationally, three in 10 workers, or 45.2 million people, fall below the $20-per-hour mark. However, this distribution varies widely by state.

Texas tops the list in terms of the number of low-wage workers with nearly 5.1 million people below the $20-per-hour mark. California, the most populous state, follows with around 4 million workers, along with Florida (3.5 million) and New York (2.2 million).

Meanwhile, Mississippi leads in terms of the share of low-wage workers, with 52% of the state’s workers earning under $20 per hour. Other Southern states also rank high, including Louisiana (45%), Arkansas (43%), West Virginia (43%), and Kentucky (41%).

In contrast, the District of Columbia has the lowest share of low-wage workers at 11%, along with Washington (19%) and Massachusetts (18%). These states tend to have a larger share of workers employed in high-paying industries like professional services, health, and information (IT) as compared to states with more low-wage workers.

The Raise the Wage Act, which proposes lifting the federal minimum wage to $17 over five years, has been introduced repeatedly since 2017 but has yet to pass.

EU Mercosur free trade deal is ‘fundamental threat to the food security of EU citizens’

The European Parliament has voted on a safeguard clause to the EU’s trade agreement with Mercosur countries, but this is not enough to avert disaster for Europe’s food security, food safety, and agricultural future.

“The changes voted on in the European Parliament do not eliminate the fundamental threat to the food security of EU citizens, and the safeguard clause will not prevent the destabilization of the agricultural market.

A sham solution was passed, intended to create the impression of agricultural protection and facilitate political acceptance of the entire agreement,” Jadwiga Wiśniewska, a PiS MEP, commented on the EP’s vote on safeguard clauses for the agreement with Mercosur countries in an interview with wPolityce.

The EU parliament is reacting to mass protests and fierce opposition from farmers, European activists, and grassroots initiatives aimed at protecting Europe from being flooded with cheap and unsafe food from South America.

With this in mind, the parliament adopted several amendments that are supposedly intended to “allow for a faster response” from the EU in the event of a drop in prices for products like beef and eggs due to imports from the South American bloc.

However, critics say this measure is designed to stamp out opposition and will offer no real safeguard to farmers and European consumers.

Ford takes massive $19.5 bln hit in electric vehicle bust – scraps electric F-150 truck touted by Biden

Ford on Monday announced it took a massive $19.5 billion hit tied to its electric vehicle production and said it will scrap the electric F-15 truck touted by Joe Biden.

Ford Motors poured billions of dollars into producing electric vehicles as the Biden Regime waged a war on gas-powered vehicles. The automaker previously reported it lost billions of dollars on their electric vehicles. The electric vehicles have proven to be a money pit for Ford.

Ford announced it scrapped its electric vehicles after being forced to write down $19.5 billion. The Dearborn, Michigan-based automaker will make a series of changes to its line of vehicles and production facilities to focus on producing affordable vehicles that better align with customer desires, it announced Monday.

The company will also scrap production of certain larger EVs—including the F-150 Lightning, which it will retool as an electric vehicle with a gas-powered generator—as well as redouble development of smaller, lower-cost cars, including a midsize pickup truck in 2027.

Recall that Joe Biden traveled to Dearborn, Michigan, to Ford’s Rouge Electric in 2021 to take Ford’s new Lightning for a spin. “This sucker’s quick!” Biden said as he ‘test drove’ Ford’s new electric F-150 Lightning.

European plans to get rid of Russian gas have left campaigners lukewarm, calling the target date too distant. In the meantime, despite all the rhetoric, some claim the European Union continues to fund the Russians via their gas bill.

MEPs approved a gradual ban on pipeline and liquefied natural gas (LNG) imports starting in 2026, while the European Commission is planning to prepare a ban on oil imports in 2027.

Brussels also wants harmonised maximum penalties in case of infringements and the new law also establishes penalties to be enforced by member states against operators for breaches.

Additionally, MEPs advocated for more stringent guidelines for the temporary suspension of the import restriction in emergency scenarios pertaining to the energy security of the EU.

Germany's municipal financial crisis: the green transformation backfires

For years, politicians managed to hide the damage caused by the green transformation. Now, deep cracks are appearing in municipal finances amid the severe economic crisis gripping the country. Cities like Stuttgart serve as showcases for the future of the republic.

For a long time, Stuttgart’s city treasurer was more than just a steward of solid numbers. He was regarded as the uncrowned king of fiscal policy in the region—and held a position envied by many colleagues.

The robust foundation of the automotive industry and its extensive supplier network funneled generous tax revenues into the city’s coffers for years, particularly from trade taxes.

As recently as 2023, Stuttgart recorded a record 1.6 billion euros in trade tax revenue—a sum that gave the city extraordinary financial leeway. Social projects, infrastructure initiatives, municipal ambitions—the local government could spend freely.

Then came 2024. Early cracks in Germany’s economic foundation, building up over years, began to appear in Stuttgart as well. By the end of the fiscal year, the city faced a deficit of 6.8 million euros—a first warning that things might be spiraling out of control.

A quick glance at state-funded media is enough to see how politics and state-aligned outlets attempt to deceive the public about the true state of the German economy.

Single, typically heavily subsidized green projects are celebrated, while the real world suffers—with around 24,000 corporate insolvencies and hundreds of thousands of job losses this year alone.

Inmate phone calls cause more criminal activity

And state benefit for prisoners costing taxpayers $12.5 million a year

A new program that gives unlimited free phone calls to Massachusetts prisoners cost taxpayers $12.5 million in fiscal year 2025, according to the Boston Herald. The program was meant to allow inmates to stay connected to their family members and other outside support systems, helping the rehabilitative process. It has not always had its intended effect.

Bristol County Sheriff Paul Heroux told the Herald that inmates at the jail he oversees are using the free phone calls to "plan criminal activity." He claimed he has seen an increase in witness intimidation and violations of restraining orders since the so-called "No-Cost Communication" program began in late 2023.

Some inmates, according to Heroux, talk on the phone so much that they have stopped attending prison programming. Prisoners should not be restricted from calling their families, but Massachusetts' taxpayer-funded program must be reformed so it does not promote illegal activity.

In Germany Syrian migrant pulls out AK-47 rifle after being rejected from nightclub

Fights with bouncers are not totally uncommon, but most people who are rejected from a club simply head home disappointed. However, one Syrian migrant in the German city of Leipzig appeared to have an entirely different reaction, pulling out a Kalashnikov rifle before being tackled to the ground by security.

This disturbing scene played out on Sunday at 2:00 a.m. in front of a trendy club in Leipzig, known as “N 39” on Königshauspassage. The 27-year-old migrant, Bashar A., was rejected from the club, which was at its full capacity with 600 people. However, he did not accept this, and returned to the scene minutes later to insist he be let in.

Once again, he was denied by bouncers. As seen on surveillance, he then moves away from the entrance, where he pulls an AK-47 rifle out of a bag before security tackles him to the ground.

The bouncers moved quickly though, knocking the man to the ground while he was allegedly trying to place a magazine inside the rifle. The security guards then disarmed the man and held him down.
