Hungarian foreign minister says country’s gas supply is secure, NATO membership for Ukraine is impossible
Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó said that Hungary will not be affected by the expected stoppage of the transit of Russian natural gas via Ukraine because the country today primarily gets its gas via the TurkStream pipeline
His comments came at a press conference following the meeting of the Hungarian-Serbian joint economic committee. He further noted that an “extremely brave decision” was made with Serbia, Bulgaria and Turkey to build this pipeline, with those involved in the construction and preparation facing serious threats from allies who tried to dissuade them from building it
Already this year, more than 5.6 billion cubic meters of natural gas has arrived via this route, Szijjártó said
Szijjártó also spoke up on Ukraine’s possible NATO membership, saying that the country’s admission today would drag all members into the ongoing war and trigger the outbreak of WWIII because of the article on collective defense
“I think that anyone who thinks this matter through with common sense does not want to cause this danger. So, the Hungarian position is clear: There is no possibility of Ukraine joining NATO,” he stated

US military draft sign-ups plunge in 2 years amid young men fear of being drafted for foreign wars
Of men in the U.S. who turned 18 in 2023, fewer than 40% signed up for the draft — down from more than 60% in 2020 before the start of the war in Ukraine
This eye-popping and previously undisclosed admission, as well as other revelations equally damning to plans to increase readiness to activate a draft, was included in documents released recently by the Selective Service System (SSS) in response to a Freedom Of Information Act request
The SSS is maintains a database of eligible male citizens who could be conscripted if and when Congress and the president institute a draft. Per the law, American males must register within 30 days of their 18th birthday or find it difficult to get a driver’s license in some states
Public statements from supporters of draft registration have justified preparation for a draft as necessary for national emergencies, self-defense, or supposed existential threats such as a Chinese invasion of the mainland U.S.
But the lead bullet point in the newly-disclosed Selective Service talking points to Congress in support of a proposal to automatically register all young Americans for a future draft, is the possible activation of a draft for foreign wars in Ukraine and/or the Middle East

3.3% of high schoolers identify as transgender
The Center for Disease Control and Prevention released the results of a 2023 survey, finding that 3.3% of U.S. high school students identified as transgender as of last year
The CDC survey also found that 2.2% of students “identified as questioning.” The study, from the 2023 national Youth Risk Behavior Survey, was touted as the first of its kind
“Until recently, population-based data describing the experiences of transgender students and students questioning whether they are transgender (questioning) have been limited,” the agency said Tuesday
Of the trans-identifying students, about 47.5% of them identified as female
There were also apparently fewer black transgender students
“A lower proportion of transgender students identified as Black and higher proportion identified as White compared with cisgender or questioning students. In addition, for questioning students, differences in grade distribution were observed,” the CDC said
The CDC survey found that trans students perform more poorly than their “cisgender” counterparts in just about every metric
