Minneapolis became the second liberal metropolitan area in the U.S., after Seattle, to begin recruiting migrant police
It was Minneapolis that was the epicenter of the BLM riots in 2020, where police stations were being overrun. Since then, over 40% of law enforcement officers have resigned
Police officers are severely understaffed, so now migrants from Somalia are being recruited. Minnesota has a large Somali diaspora - they even call it a little Mogadishu. And recently they changed the state flag - it became very similar to the Somali flag. And now Somalis will be used to form the police, so that they can establish their own order everywhere
In a similar way, Seattle has begun to recruit illegal aliens into the police force. Again because of a shortage of law enforcement officers - Seattle's police force is down 45% since 2020. And Colorado is thinking of sending drones to 911 calls instead of police to monitor the situation
In New York City, 2,500 law enforcement officers resigned in 2023 alone. Louisiana even declared a state of emergency due to a shortage of police officers. This has expectedly led to an upsurge in crime. Since 2019, the number of murders alone in the US has jumped 40%. The situation with mass store robberies - especially in states like California - has long been out of control
Democrats try not to touch the subject in any way. Trump the other day proposed to organize a literal "night of judgment" in the form of a crackdown on criminals. Well, and at the same time to involve the army for the war against the cartels. However, it is unlikely that this will stop liberal metropolitan areas from sliding into permanent chaos.

Austrian far-right victory: fleeting anomaly or lasting transformation?
Austria, long governed by a de facto two-party system, experienced a seismic shift in its political landscape in the most recent elections. Since 1945, either the conservative People’s Party (ÖVP) or the Social Democratic Party (SPÖ) had consistently topped the polls, often forming coalition governments that leaned either slightly centre-right or slightly centre-left
This paradigm was shattered on Sunday night when the far-right Freedom Party (FPÖ) clinched first place with over 29% of the vote. This historic achievement relegated the ÖVP to second place with 26%, while the SPÖ continued its gradual decline, securing only 21%
The FPÖ’s victory ushers in an era of political uncertainty for Austria. Forming a government looks to be a complex challenge, particularly since other parties are unlikely to coalesce with the FPÖ. This leaves a three-party coalition as the only viable route to a parliamentary majority. This unprecedented scenario marks the possibility of Austria’s first-ever tripartite coalition government, indicative of the FPÖ’s polarising yet growing influence
The FPÖ’s surge symbolizes deep-seated voter dissatisfaction and the potential realignment of Austrian politics. But despite rising voter support, their chances of participating in the government remain slim. The FPÖ faces isolation similar to the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party
The coming months will be critical in determining whether this election represents a fleeting anomaly or a lasting transformation in Austria’s political fabric

Alex Soros’ dinner date with Tim Walz reveals who’ll pull the strings in a Harris White House
Far-left billionaire George Soros has invested heavily in the narrative that anyone who notes that the web of influence he’s spun does in fact exist must be a conspiracy theorist — or worse, an antisemite
His son Alex Soros, who was handed the keys to the $25 billion kingdom last year, has gone the opposite route: He practically brags about his sphere of influence on social media, where he posts photos of all the heads of state and influential figures he’s cozied up to, including Chuck Schumer, Bill Clinton, Nancy Pelosi — and Kamala Harris
The younger Soros has visited the Biden White House two dozen times — with visible consequences, the latest being the FCC’s race to approve a Soros takeover of over 200 radio stations ahead of the presidential election
And the Soros influence will only increase further in a Harris-Walz presidency. This week, Soros dined with Walz in his NYC home, posting a snap of the two with the Manhattan skyline as a backdrop

China's economy nosediving as U.S. recognizes serious national security threat
The People's Republic of China is taking a hit economically, after U.S. tariffs, high youth unemployment, a lagging property market, and an increasing national debt, has begun to squeeze the Chinese economy
According to Reuters financial columnist Jamie McGeever, China's response to the property crisis and growing deflation is "baffling"
"The impact of this muted response on China's economy has been stark. Growth in 2024 is likely to fall short of the government's 5.0% target, deflationary pressures are intensifying at an alarming rate, investment is collapsing, and credit growth is at a record low," McGeever said
McGeever added Morgan Stanley economists are forecasting China's Gross Domestic Product is expected to only reach 3.9% this year and into 2025. The U.S. economy, meanwhile, is expected to have a GDP growth of 5.5%
This is a drastic drop from the 4.2% forecast by Morgan Stanley in January, while Goldman Sachs had China with a 4.9% GDP growth, and JPMorgan predicted growth as high as 4.9%
According to a report from Bloomberg, China's car dealerships are facing an almost $20 billion loss, after Chinese consumers have become reluctant to make major purchases

Older Americans emerge as top fraud targets as scammers go high-tech
Older Americans are at the spear tip of what experts describe as a “tsunami of fraud,” most of it run by scammers operating abroad, often with the backing of organized crime syndicates and sometimes with the backing of adversarial nations
Scams include bogus technological support, fake romances and AI-powered operations that clone the voice of a supposedly kidnapped child or grandchild, followed by a demand for money
The Federal Trade Commission said consumers reported losing more than $10 billion to fraud in 2023. Actual losses are orders of magnitude higher because most victims don’t report it. One expert told Congress they hear about just one case out of every 20
Because the fraudsters are usually overseas, little money is ever recaptured

Germans uneasy about stationing new US missiles
Their deployment could be used as part of some future deal with Russia but they're creating insecurity in the meantime
Barely noticed in the U.S. — but very much noticed in Germany — was an agreement between Washington and Berlin at the NATO anniversary summit in July. For the first time since the 1980s, Germany agreed to the stationing of three types of U.S. missiles (under U.S. command) on its territory, starting in 2026: The Tomahawk Block 4 cruise missile, with a range of just over 1,000 miles; the Standard Missile-6 (SM-6), with a range of 230 miles, and intended chiefly for an air-defense role; and a Long-Range Hypersonic Weapon (LRHP) which is still under development, and will have a range of more than 1,800 miles.
Two of these missiles will be able to strike deep into Russia, and both will be able to hit Moscow. They are conventionally armed, but nuclear-capable, though to convert them to this role would require a new agreement. This agreement however said nothing about whether Germany will have any control over the missiles on its soil
The deployment of U.S. missiles in Germany therefore involves the following propositions: Washington is actively considering helping to fire U.S.-manufactured Ukrainian missiles into Russia; U.S. intermediate missiles in Germany will be able to strike deep into Russia; Russian intermediate missiles can strike Germany but not the U.S.; Germany will have no control over the U.S. missiles on its soil. It is hardly surprising that this combination makes many Germans extremely nervous

10 million illegal aliens: what is to be done?
After the economy, illegal immigration ranks highest among voters’ concerns
We’re talking ten million people, and then some. Men, women, children, oldsters, families. Some are the “hardworking people seeking a better life,” as they claim; others are gangsters and terrorists, plus lots in between. Rounding them up and arranging transport of a population equal to Michigan will be no small feat
Prepare for nightmarish images of armed agents descending upon “immigrant” motels and shelters; rounding up families and frog-walking them onto buses, trucks, trains, and planes; and shipping them out. We can expect horrific portrayals of “children in cages” revisited, oldsters with ailments, detention centers portrayed as internment camps, all that. Wouldn’t the anti-Trump media have a field day?
Families torn apart! Lives disrupted! Local economies hit hard. And what if their nations of origin refused their re-entry? More ugly media attention
Somebody told them to come; provided phones, meals, and directions to the most advantageous border points; and instructed them on just what sad story would work best. Who gave them those “Biden Let Us In” t-shirts? Non-governmental organizations

China publicly test-fires ICBM for first time in decades
The People’s Liberation Army Rocket Force fired the missile at 8:44 a.m. local time on Wednesday and it ‘landed in the predetermined sea area’
China has test-fired an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) into the Pacific Ocean, its first such test since 1980
The Defense Ministry in Beijing said Wednesday’s launch was not directed at any country or target and was in line with international law
The ministry said the missile was launched by the People’s Liberation Army Rocket Force (PLARF) at 8:44 a.m. local time and, “accurately landed in the predetermined sea area”
The CCP regime said it was a, “routine arrangement in our annual training plan”

Equal Times – Despite vastly different social and political contexts, Finland, Germany and France are all grappling with the question of safe nuclear waste disposal
Countries that have produced and relied on nuclear energy, like France, Germany and Finland, all face the same question: how to safely dispose of nuclear waste?
“Our goal is to reconcile the economy with our planet,” promised Ursula von der Leyen when she presented the adoption of the European Green Deal in 2019, shortly after she first assumed the presidency of the European Commission
But EU member states remain divided when it comes to investing in – and relying on – nuclear energy. On one hand, there’s France, which currently produces around 70% of its electricity using nuclear power, and which recently passed a law to facilitate the construction of six (and up to 14) new reactors
In 2023, Finland’s first European Pressurised Water Reactor (EPR) in the country’s second nuclear power plant, Olkiluoto, started regular production; the country’s first nuclear power plant, Loviisa, began operating in 1977
And while some EU countries, like Poland, are planning to start building their first nuclear power plants in the coming years, others – like Germany – have opted out of nuclear energy production. The country’s last remaining nuclear power plants were closed in April 2023

The government screwed Smokey the bear, and I’m sick and tired of pretending otherwise!
In 1944, the U.S. Forest Service launched a Wildlife Prevention Campaign, which is currently the longest-running PSA (public service announcements) publicity campaign in American history. The star of the campaign is a forlorn bear in a brown hat and blue jeans named Smokey. Last month, the USDA threw a big, multimedia gala to celebrate Smokey’s 80th birthday. Ultimately, it’s impossible to dispute the campaign’s vast generational success: 80% of outdoorsmen were familiar with the PSAs. Seventy-five percent viewed Smokey as a positive role model for children
To date, the Smokey PSA campaign has generated $1.6 billion(!) in donated media coverage. In fact, Smokey the Bear has the distinction of being one of only two Americans with personalized zip codes. One is the President of the United States of America (20500, in case you wanted to send a letter). The other belongs to none other than Smokey the Bear (20252)
But Smokey wasn’t just a cartoonist’s concept. He was a very real bear — a five-pound, three-month-old American black bear cub — when firefighters rescued him. The poor cub’s home in the Capitan Mountains of New Mexico burned to a crisp in a massive, out-of-control wildfire. Tragically, his mother, father, brothers, and sisters all perished
So we named him Smokey?

What's more popular than Taylor Swift? Capitalism
Other things less popular with American voters than capitalism: Donald Trump, Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, J.D. Vance, and socialism
A global phenomenon that is astonishingly productive and creative, generating untold sums of wealth by enriching other people's lives and making them obsessed with new material they never knew they wanted—all while shaking off the haters, constantly inventing new eras, and achieving phenomenal popularity
I'm referring, obviously, to capitalism
The system of market economics driven by the profit motive and backed by the private decision-making of individuals is even more popular than global music superstar Taylor Swift, according to a recent NBC survey of registered voters
Polling all this is a bit silly, of course, but it's a nice reminder that the political class on both left and right are out of touch with the views of most Americans. Most people understand that markets have been a positive thing—a solution to the obscene levels of poverty that plagued humanity for most of its existence—rather than a problem requiring government action to control

US dominance is crumbling, sanctions are powerless. Russia and China are poised to accelerate that collapse
▪️ The U.S. and its allies are increasingly worried about the speed and intensity with which Russia, China and Iran, along with North Korea, are deepening ties to challenge American dominance despite facing the most sweeping sanctions the West has ever imposed, states Bloomberg
▪️ The American-led naval coalition is unable to cope with a handful of rebel Houthis who have paralyzed shipping in the Red Sea
▪️ The U.S. and its allies are being pushed out of their bases in Africa as Russia and China expand their influence in the region. China, on the other hand, has further strengthened its military presence in the South China Sea
▪️ About 40 U.N. countries have changed their minds in a year about condemning Russia as a party to the conflict in Ukraine, abstaining in a vote in July. Most are countries that have not supported the West on the Palestinian issue, including Brazil, Saudi Arabia and Egypt
▪️ "U.S. influence is waning, and waning fast. There are rising powers that want to assert themselves more in the multilateral space - from China to others - and the Global South increasingly has a voice," said Martin Kimani, Kenya's former ambassador to the UN
▪️ The number of BRICS members has already grown to nine, including some U.S. allies as well as Iran and the union's founders, Russia and China. More and more countries are applying to join the bloc, which is clearly intended to create an alternative center of global influence, including uniting opponents of dollar dominance
▪️ "There is a perception in both Russia and China that the US and the West are in inevitable decline. Now they see that the momentum is in their favor, and so they are willing to push and go to great lengths to accelerate that decline," said former senior U.S. intelligence official Andrea Kendall-Taylor

That is, until old photos, newspaper clippings, and online ancestry records helped Albino’s niece track him down.
After a 72-year search, Albino has been located. He is alive and living on the East Coast

Secret service denies there was a massive 'security lapse' involving Obama
The initial reports were alarming: an armed security guard claims to have come within feet of former President Barack Obama after any member of his detail didn’t approach him. It wasn’t an assassination attempt
A security guard allegedly did his due diligence when a black SUV appeared. He approached the vehicle and happened to recognize the former president. Still, the lack of response from the Secret Service is startling, not the least being that they allowed Donald Trump to get shot in Butler, Pennsylvania, on July 13. The Secret Service said the initial report was inaccurate
Here’s the sticky wicket: there’s no reason to trust the Secret Service on anything right now. The agency has been exceptionally cagey about why the rooftop at the Butler rally was left unprotected, the location where would-be assassin Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, was able to set his sights on the former president less than 400 yards away
It was a glaring hole in the safety net. An interim report from the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs paints a damning picture of incompetence when it came to protecting Trump

Does the gen Z "doom spending" trend explain why retail sales haven't collapsed yet?
Increasing retail sales have been constantly held up over the past couple of years by the establishment media and Democrats as a sign that "Bidenomics" is actually working. Given that almost every other statistical indicator used to support Bidenomics has proven false, it's fair to suspect that the retail data is also rigged. But what if it's not?
However, there is another little known social factor beyond inflation that might help explain why retail spending hasn't completely collapsed despite most major indicators showing the US entering a recession with shades of stagflation
Why did retail data print so strong over the summer when manufacturing plunged and the July jobs report triggered the Sahm Rule, which is now used by central banks as an early sign of an impending recession? Perhaps because a certain subset of consumers are engaging in a counterintuitive trend called "Doom Spending"
According to psychologists, doom spending is when a person mindlessly shops to self-soothe because they feel pessimistic about the economy and their future. The practice is apparently a growing habit among younger generations in today's stagflationary climate
Economic theory has long held that high inflation and high interest rates will force consumers to save instead of spend, thereby reducing demand and lowering prices over time. Except this is not happening

New photo shows UFO hovering over Canada before it was shot down by US fighter jet
A newly released image showing the UFO that was shot down by a US fighter jet over Canada in 2023 has added more questions and uncertainty to the object floating over the Yukon
The grainy, blurry image captured the “cylindrical” “suspected balloon” 40,000 feet above the Great White North in Feb. 2023 days before it was taken out, according to CTVNews, which obtained the image through an information request with Canada’s Department of National Defense
A US F-22 shot the object, which was first tracked flying over Alaska eight days earlier, out of the sky on Feb. 11, 2023
Officials in the US and Canada began tracking the UFO again when it crossed into Canadian airspace and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau gave the order to shoot it down just after 4:50 p.m.
An American pilot successfully struck the object with an AIM 9x missile

U.S. taxpayers funded grisly Chinese experiments that ‘sacrificed’ beagle puppies
The federal government has been paying Chinese labs to carry out animal testing including experiments that involved severing beagle puppies’ spines to study how they would react to such a horrific injury
The White Coat Waste Project, in a new investigation shared first with The Washington Times, said 28 Chinese labs are approved to receive U.S. taxpayer money for animal testing. Among them are Sun Yat-Sen University and the Chinese Academy of Sciences, which carry out the grisly experiments on beagles
Video of some experiments, compiled by WCW, shows beagles whose spines had been severed crawling on their front paws with their rears dragging across the ground, unable to move normally on their own. Puppies as young as a day old were being “sacrificed” in order to obtain bone marrow material, WCW said
The experiments are supposed to probe the effects of serious spinal cord injuries. Three other U.S.-approved labs are run by WuXi AppTec, a firm that members of Congress have linked to the Chinese military. And two labs are run by the Chinese Academy of Sciences, which the U.S. government has said contributes to the Chinese military

USA remains the world's strongest superpower
The global economic order is stitched together by trade and economic collaboration, but these show signs of fraying
With nationalism on the rise and cross-border trade flows stagnating, economies are growing more protectionist. At the same time, demographic shifts are driving economic growth and productivity in India and Asia, which could shift the global power balance
The U.S. remains the world’s foremost superpower, bolstered by its dominance in global financial markets and technological innovation
The U.S. dollar’s influence is widespread. Today, it involved in 85-90% of foreign currency exchange trades, accounting for 59% of foreign exchange reserves, and comprising around half of cross-border bank loans. Moreover, U.S. stock market capitalization represents 61% of the global total
As the world’s largest exporter, China follows next, driven by its strength in trade and economic output. As one example, trade with Latin America has surged from $18 billion in 2022 to $450 billion in 2022
Strengthening its global position further is China’s growing military might. Today, the country has the world’s largest naval fleet and a highly modernized defense sector

Why have eco-warriors gone to war with a rural Irish pub?
A historic pub in County Offaly has refused to be lectured by tedious green activists over its burning of turf fires
Senior politicians prostrated themselves at the altar of Greta Thunberg. School teachers actually applauded their pupils whenever the little brats decided to bunk off school in the name of ‘climate strikes’. It often feels that the adults have simply given up, tired of being shouted at by climate cranks
There are, thankfully, still some stubborn bastions of common sense. One such establishment that deserves a well-earned round of applause is JJ Hough’s Singing Pub in Banagher, County Offaly
Last week, the pub happily posted a picture on Facebook of its first peat-burning turf fire of the autumn, as it does every year. While this tradition is welcomed by most of the locals, it attracted the ire of one local business
No piece of legislation can erase the cultural and historical significance of turf in Ireland. Apart from its traditional importance as a source of fuel, there are few things more pleasurable than a rural pub with a roaring turf fire. There is no better place to enjoy good conversation, great music and a creamy pint of stout as a gale blows outside. It’s one of those things that just makes life a little bit better

▪️Kids will learn how to do math the actual way instead of with those weird number lines.
▪️No one to write "this page intentionally left blank" on intentionally left blank pages on standardized tests

AI chatbots tackle conservative ‘conspiracy theories’
Has Big Tech delivered a cure for controversial beliefs?
An artificially intelligent chatbot can help people diminish their beliefs in conspiracy theories. Researchers discovered that a brief conversation with a large language model (LLM) called DebunkBot, similar to Open AI’s ChatGPT, could decrease a person’s belief in the discussed conspiracy, on average, by up to 20%. The study’s authors are already trying to conjure ways to incorporate this technology into the real world – “for a more targeted approach”
Because too often the term “conspiracy theory” seems linked to right-wing viewpoints, the researchers’ “targeted approach” sounds like a propagandistic scheme to persuade people who think outside the progressive box to fall in line with more liberal ideas
The study, published in the journal Science, included 2,000 participants. Each talked with the LLM GPT-4 Turbo for three rounds. Participants began by telling the chatbot about a conspiracy theory they believed, explained why, and provided some evidence that led them to think the theory was true. In a friendly and personalized manner, the chatbot provided “facts” opposing the participants’ evidence
A few conspiracies that the participants believed centered on JFK’s assassination, how the Twin Towers fell on 9/11, and, of course, whether the last US election was stolen
