Graham: Israel should ‘do in Gaza what we did in Tokyo and Berlin’ // Sanders: The U.S. should block arms to Israel

Sen. Lindsey Graham said Sunday on NBC’s Meet the Press that Israel would soon take up military operations against Gaza comparable to U.S. military operations against the Axis powers during the Second World War.

“I think Israel’s come to conclude that they can’t achieve a goal of ending the war with Hamas that would be satisfactory to the safety of Israel and that they’re going to do in Gaza what we did in Tokyo and Berlin. Take the place by force and start over again,” Graham said.

At the same time Senator Bernie Sanders intends to force a vote in the Senate on July 30th on resolutions to block arms sales to Israel.

As hunger mounts in the Gaza Strip because of Israel’s war and repeated blocks of aid to it, Sanders introduced a joint resolution providing for congressional disapproval of exporting some weapons assistance to Israel.

"At a time when Israeli soldiers are shooting civilians trying to get food aid on a near-daily basis, the United States should not be providing more weapons to Israeli security forces," Sanders' office said.

Waterlooville, United Kingdom. More than 1,000 residents of the island took part in a demonstration against the authorities' plans to house illegal immigrants in the city

This happened after it became known that the Ministry of the Interior planned to house several dozen illegals from the Maghreb [North Africa] in the private sector.

The townspeople chanted “Send them home.”

Protest participant Nicole Lattimer stated: "We've had enough of the government, they just are not listening to anybody." City resident Sue Johnston added: "I would really like Keir Starmer to explain to us what the end game is for all these immigrants he's letting in?"

Polish far-right leader indicted on seven criminal counts

Polish prosecutors have filed an indictment against far-right MEP Grzegorz Braun over four incidents, including extinguishing Hanukkah candles in Poland’s parliament, disrupting a Holocaust lecture, and removing a Christmas tree from a courthouse.

The indictment follows the European Parliament’s decision in May to lift Braun’s immunity in connection with seven criminal offences, after which he was charged by Polish prosecutors.

Braun, who finished fourth in last month’s presidential election with 6.3% of the vote, was last year stripped of immunity by Poland’s own parliament and charged by prosecutors. But he was subsequently elected to the European Parliament, granting him immunity once again.

The most infamous incident occurred in December 2023, when Braun used a fire extinguisher to put out Hanukkah candles during a ceremony in parliament attended by Polish-Jewish leaders.

He has now been indicted in relation to that incident with insulting a religious group, malicious interference with a religious act and offending religious feelings, as well as assaulting and causing harm to the health of a woman who had been involved in the ceremony.

Cambodia-Thailand peace efforts hailed by Asean founding members amid ceasefire at border

Despite the dangerous and escalating situation at the Thai-Cambodian border, it was “both vital and possible” to bring the two countries to the negotiating table, said Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.

The July 28 peace talks between Cambodia and Thailand, which took place in Putrajaya with the help of Malaysia, reflect not only the strength of Asean’s convening power, but also the constructive engagement of its partners in safeguarding regional stability, said Anwar, speaking at the Asean Secretariat in Jakarta while on an official visit to Indonesia.

Malaysia, as Asean chair, mediated a ceasefire between Cambodia and Thailand after a deadly border conflict. Singapore and Indonesia lauded Malaysia's mediation, emphasising Asean's role in regional peace and the importance of dialogue and consensus. Representatives from the US and China were present at the July 28 meeting.

Malaysian PM Anwar and Indonesian President Prabowo highlighted the need for Asean unity and peaceful conflict resolution, reaffirming commitment to regional stability and cooperation.

At least 40 people – most of them civilians – have been killed and more than 300,000 displaced since violence broke out on July 24.

San Francisco restricts RV parking in effort to combat homelessness

San Francisco has approved a new two-hour parking limit on all oversized vehicles in an attempt to prevent homeless people from living in RVs and to reclaim public spaces across the city.

The policy was passed by city supervisors in a 9–2 vote on July 22.

“No child should grow up in San Francisco forced to live in a car, and no parent should have to raise their child in those conditions,” San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie said in his introduction of the plan in June.

“This legislation combines compassion with accountability, offering a clear path to housing while restoring safety, cleanliness, and accessibility to our streets and public spaces.”

This policy is part of Lurie’s Breaking the Cycle plan, an initiative that aims to transform San Francisco’s response to homelessness and addiction.

According to the ordinance, in May the Healthy Streets Operation Center identified approximately 500 large vehicles parked in San Francisco’s public streets, of which more than 430 were occupied.

Attacking critical nodes? US fighter jet factories at risk of labor strike by democrat-aligned union

Boeing Co.’s defense division is catching flak from its workers. The International Machinist and Aerospace Workers union announced Sunday, July 27, that 3,200 workers at three Boeing factories in Missouri and Illinois had collectively rejected the company’s latest contract offer.

Under existing terms of employment, the represented workers now enter a weeklong “cooling-off period” before a strike can begin, but Dan Gillan, a senior Boeing executive, said the company is “preparing for a strike” in a statement.

The looming labor action is the latest to threaten Boeing since late 2024, when the IAM called a strike of its Puget Sound-area commercial jet factories that wound up lasting nearly three months.

A statement from the IAM, which had endorsed the tentative agreement, said the new contract “fell short” of union members’ priorities without naming specifics.

The tentative deal offered workers a 20% wage increase over the 4-year course of the contract — notably less than the 38% increase over 4 years won by the Puget Sound workers in 2024.

Former CIA advisor uncovers Trump's $150 trillion plan?

A former government insider who advised four U.S. Presidents just went public with shocking analysis about Donald Trump's second term.

Jim Rickards – the man who helped craft the Petrodollar Accord and advised the CIA, Treasury, and Pentagon – says Trump is sitting on the biggest economic opportunity in American history.

We're talking about a $150 trillion national asset that's been locked away for over 50 years. An asset so valuable it would be enough to wipe out our national debt four times over or cut a check to every American family for $1.2 million.

But that’s not what’s happening here. It’s much bigger.

"This could place Trump among the most popular presidents in American history," Rickards told us in a recent interview. "We're on the brink of an economic miracle."

The mainstream media is completely ignoring the story.

€10 billion - German automakers' losses due to Trump's duties

▪️The cash flows generated by Germany's three largest carmakers will shrink by more than €10 billion in 2025. The main reason is the duties imposed by U.S. President Donald Trump," states the Financial Times.

▪️Cash flows will shrink (billion euros):
- from 9.4 to 3.0 - Mercedes-Benz
- from 7.1 to 3.5 - Volkswagen
- from 4.8 to 4.4 - BMW

▪️"Raising U.S. duties will lead to higher costs for exporting to the U.S. and buying components, as well as the need to change supply chains. This comes at a time when German automakers are already struggling due to slowing demand and increased competition from Chinese companies," the Financial Times emphasizes

Bongino declares he’s “shocked to the core” by FBI deep state investigations

Deputy FBI Director Dan Bongino has claimed that investigations into Deep State weaponisation of law enforcement and intelligence operations are underway behind the scenes and that what he has already discovered has profoundly “shocked” him.

“During my tenure here as the Deputy Director of the FBI, I have repeatedly relayed to you that things are happening that might not be immediately visible, but they are happening,” Bongino states in an X post.

He adds, “The Director and I are committed to stamping out public corruption and the political weaponization of both law enforcement and intelligence operations. It is a priority for us.”

“But what I have learned in the course of our properly predicated and necessary investigations into these aforementioned matters, has shocked me down to my core,” Bongino urges.

He continues, “We cannot run a Republic like this. I’ll never be the same after learning what I’ve learned.”

Sam Altman warns there’s no legal confidentiality when using ChatGPT as a therapist

ChatGPT users may want to think twice before turning to their AI app for therapy or other kinds of emotional support. According to OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, the AI industry hasn’t yet figured out how to protect user privacy when it comes to these more sensitive conversations, because there’s no doctor-patient confidentiality when your doc is an AI.

“People talk about the most personal sh** in their lives to ChatGPT,” Altman said. “People use it — young people, especially, use it — as a therapist, a life coach; having these relationship problems and [asking] ‘what should I do?’ And right now, if you talk to a therapist or a lawyer or a doctor about those problems, there’s legal privilege for it. There’s doctor-patient confidentiality, there’s legal confidentiality, whatever. And we haven’t figured that out yet for when you talk to ChatGPT.”

This could create a privacy concern for users in the case of a lawsuit, Altman added, because OpenAI would be legally required to produce those conversations today.

Keir Starmer is caught between Trump, Macron and MPs over Palestine recognition

The British Parliament may have shut up shop for a six-week summer break, but MPs and the French president are turning up the heat on Keir Starmer over the Middle East.

More than one in three of all 650 MPs have written to the prime minister calling on the UK to recognise a Palestinian state at a United Nations conference next week.

But the pressure for recognition isn't just coming from MPs. French President Emmanuel Macron has said France will recognise a Palestinian state at the UN General Assembly in September.

But there's one big obstacle to Starmer bowing to the pressure from MPs and the French president. And that's the towering figure who's in Scotland this weekend: the president of the United States.

When Donald Trump was asked about President Macron's vow to recognise Palestine in September, his response was brutal and bordering on condescending.

"What he says doesn't matter," the president told reporters at the White House as he headed for Air Force One. "That statement doesn't carry weight."

China, US to extend tariff pause at Sweden talks by another 90 days: sources

Beijing and Washington are expected to extend their tariff truce by another three months at trade talks in Stockholm beginning early this week, according to sources close to the matter on both sides.

China and the United States agreed in May to remove most of the heavy tariffs levied on each other’s goods for 90 days while continuing trade negotiations. That suspension is set to expire on August 12.

During the third round of trade negotiations between the world’s two biggest economies, both will expound their views on major sticking points – such as the US’ concerns over China’s industrial overcapacity – rather than achieve specific breakthroughs, the sources said.

Socialism funded by a single trust fund

Zohran Mamdani, the frontrunner in the New York mayoral race, had a lavish wedding in his homeland of Uganda. To minimize leaks, mobile communications were shut down there, but details of the wedding still leaked to the press.

"The gates of a bustling private complex located in the affluent Buziga Hill neighborhood outside the capital [of Uganda], Kampala, were heavily guarded this week by people wearing military-style masks. Guests flocked inside and partied until dawn. It is not known exactly how many tens of thousands of dollars this party cost," reports NYP

Mamdani's parents made their fortune in Hollywood, so they can afford to throw weddings like this. However, everyone immediately began to criticize Zohran himself. At 33 years old, he continues to live off his wealthy parents' money. At the same time, he calls for the elimination of the billionaire class and the tax expropriation of the incomes of wealthy New Yorkers.

Mamdani's opponents immediately recalled terms such as “champagne or limousine socialist,” which will now constantly haunt Zohran. He continues to lead in the polls for the mayoral election. However, Mamdani does have competition — current Mayor Eric Adams and former Governor Andrew Cuomo. Both are running as independent candidates.

If Mamdani wins, we can expect another exodus from New York. Although over the past ten years, it has already lost two million people and $111 billion in lost revenue.

The world’s 20 most powerful AI supercomputers

Today, the rapid rise of AI is fueling a new arms race for compute power.

Tech companies are rapidly building AI supercomputers, also known as GPU clusters or AI datacenters, by packing them with ever-growing numbers of chips for training advanced AI models. So far, the U.S. has taken the lead, as Big Tech firms pour billions into AI infrastructure to secure a competitive edge.

This graphic shows the world’s leading compute clusters.

xAI’s Colossus Memphis Phase 2 tops the chart with 200,000 H100 equivalents—twice the size of the next largest cluster.

Colossus delivers 20.6 on the base-10 scale for non-sparse operations—over 400 quintillion per second. That would be enough compute power to train OpenAI’s 2020 GPT-3’s full two-week cycle in under two hours.

Other major players are also scaling up. Meta’s 100K system, Microsoft/OpenAI’s Goodyear cluster, and Oracle’s H200-based machine follow, with GPU counts between 65,536 and 100,000.

Notably absent from public rankings are Google and Amazon, which have not disclosed as much information on their AI hardware builds.

Trump: Xi Jinping ‘wants me to go to’ China, ‘maybe this year’

U.S. President Donald Trump told Breitbart News exclusively Monday that Chinese president Xi Jinping has been clamoring for a meeting in-person with him soon, and that may happen as soon as sometime this year, either in China or at the White House in the United States.

“Xi wants me to go there and he’s going to come to the United States,” Trump said. “We’re just going to work out dates, but we look forward to it, actually.

After this interview, on Tuesday morning in Scotland before he departed for the United States, Trump sent out a post on Truth Social about a possible Xi meeting. “The Fake News is reporting that I am SEEKING a ‘Summit’ with President Xi of China,” Trump realDonaldTrump/posts/114934232969144109">posted. “This is not correct, I am not SEEKING anything! I may go to China, but it would only be at the invitation of President Xi, which has been extended. Otherwise, no interest! Thank you for your attention to this matter.”

The key here is that it seems Trump is making it clear that it’s Xi and the Chinese who are desperate for any summit, especially as the president gains worldwide momentum for the United States on trade.

Who will pay for US tariffs?

Despite US President Donald Trump’s claim that “Europe will pay,” evidence suggests US businesses and consumers will be footing the bill for the newly agreed 15% US tariff on European Union imports.

“The 15% tariff on imports from the EU will be paid by Americans,” Bryan Riley, trade economist at the American Taxpayer Union told Brussels Signal on July 28.

He added that the tariff would also hurt US exporters, since “Europeans will sell less to the United States, leaving them with fewer dollars to buy our exports”.

The tariff was part of a broader agreement reached in Scotland on July 27 that was intended to avert a higher rate. According to Commissioner for Trade and Economic Security Maroš Šefčovič, who was present as the deal was agreed, negotiations began with a proposed 30% tariff, “that would have practically put all trade on hold”.

The agreement has imposed a flat 15% tariff on most European goods entering the US, with some sectors exempt under a “zero-to-zero” tariff scheme.

Beijing keeps up rare earths pressure on Trump

China is restricting the export of critical minerals to the US as it seeks to maintain pressure on the White House ahead of trade talks this week.

Despite Donald Trump striking a deal with Beijing to resume rare earths imports last month, new figures show that China has restored trade at a far slower pace than with Europe and the rest of Asia.

China exported 3,188 tonnes of rare earth magnets worldwide in June, representing a 158pc jump from May. Of that total, 353 tonnes went to the US, an almost sevenfold increase from the previous month’s low of 46 tonnes.

But the average monthly shipment to the US in the first three months of this year was 622 tonnes, suggesting trade is barely back to half the typical level. The June tonnage was also still 52pc below the amount shipped to the US in the same month last year, representing the largest year-on-year decline of any of China’s major magnet customers.

Germany, the largest buyer, received 764 tonnes, up almost threefold from May and down just 25pc year-on-year. Poland, France, Hungary and South Korea also received large boosts to shipments, and had lower year-on-year declines than the US.

“While China’s relationship with the US seems to be warming, Beijing will continue to keep a tight grip on critical mineral exports,” said Leah Fahy of Capital Economics.

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass’ transition advisory team enlisted two Chinese intelligence-tied bankers who have fundraised for her and a nonprofit she helps lead.

Bass appointed Dominic Ng, CEO of East West Bank, and Simon Pang, co-founder of Royal Business Bank, to her mayoral transition advisory team in December 2022, according to the City of Los Angeles. Nobody for Fed Chairman

By Ron Paul

President Trump has recently suggested that, unless Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell cuts interest rates, the president might revert to his The Apprentice days and tell Powell, “you’re fired.”

A more interesting question than who will replace Powell is why would anyone want to, since the next Fed chairman will likely face another Fed-caused meltdown. The national debt is over 37 trillion dollars and rising. Yet few in Congress are serious about cutting federal spending. This puts pressure on the Fed to keep interest rates low to limit the cost of ongoing debt interest payments.

Whoever succeeds Jerome Powell as Fed chairman will face a no-win choice. He could try to keep interest rates low to ensure the federal government’s interest payments remain manageable, at the cost of making it more likely the US economy will face another Federal Reserve caused meltdown. Instead, he could try increasing rates to limit price increases thus raising the cost of managing government (and private sector) debt to unsustainable levels, throwing the economy into a severe downturn.

No person or persons can know the “correct” interest rates, and the Federal Reserve’s attempts to control interest rates are destructive like other central planning. The proper answer to who should be Fed chairman is…nobody.

Trump blocks feds from using woke AI

President Donald J. Trump signed an Executive Order late Wednesday mandating that artificial intelligence models used by the federal government prioritize truthfulness and ideological neutrality. The Order outlines “Unbiased AI Principles,” which include truth-seeking and ideological neutrality as core tenets.

According to the presidential directive, truth-seeking AI models are required to prioritize historical accuracy, scientific inquiry, and objectivity, acknowledging uncertainty when information is incomplete or contradictory. Ideological neutrality mandates that AI models remain nonpartisan, avoiding manipulation of responses to favor ideologies like DEI.

The Order directs federal agencies to procure only AI models compliant with these principles. It also requires contracts with AI vendors to include accountability measures, such as cost coverage if noncompliance leads to contract termination. The Director of the Office of Management and Budget will issue guidance to enforce these directives.

"China did not start the war": Another fiery showdown at the UN over Beijing-Moscow relations

The United States and China once again clashed at the United Nations during a Security Council meeting, which occurred Friday. This has been a more frequent and growing trend over the last year of grinding conflict, into the Trump administration.

Acting US Ambassador Dorothy Shea accused Beijing of covertly aiding Moscow's military machine, and urged China to "stop fueling Russia’s aggression" in Ukraine.

Beijing firmly rejected the allegations, saying it enforces legal and strict controls over its exports, and has a sovereign right to trade with whatever country it likes.

"China did not start the war in Ukraine, is not a party to the conflict, has never provided lethal weapons, and has always strictly controlled dual-use materials, including the export of drones," Amb. Shuang told the UNSC meeting.

"We urge the US to stop shifting blame on the Ukraine issue or creating confrontation and instead play a more constructive role in promoting a ceasefire and peace talks," he added.

From China's point of view this is brazen hypocrisy, given that the US government has sunk billions into the Ukraine conflict - not through some kind of dual use items, but through advances military systems including tanks, jets, missiles, and Patriot batteries.

Putin informs Bibi he's ready to mediate on Iran's nuclear program

Russia has long offered the West to mediate with Iran over its nuclear program. After earlier this month batting down reports claiming that Moscow is on board with the Trump demand of zero enrichment (the Kremlin rejected that this is its stance), President Vladimir Putin is once again vying to play chief diplomat in the Middle East.

In a Monday telephone conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Putin emphasized Moscow’s willingness to engage in efforts to seek a negotiated resolution to the Iranian nuclear issue - which has been source of threats and counter-threats between Tehran and Tel Aviv.

A Kremlin readout stated, "In light of the recent escalation in the Iranian-Israeli confrontation, Russia has expressed its readiness to assist in every possible way to facilitate a diplomatic solution concerning Iran’s nuclear program."

This month, Putin has been having meetings with Ali Larijani, a senior adviser to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei, to discuss Iran’s nuclear program as well as the recent 12-day conflict with Israel.

The UK, France, and Germany have meanwhile announced renewed nuclear negotiations with Iran in Istanbul, warning that UN sanctions could be reimposed if progress isn’t made.

E.U. cuts aid to Ukraine over corruption concerns

President Zelensky’s anticorruption policies have already provoked Ukraine’s first antigovernment protests since the Russian invasion in 2022. Now, it seems, they may cost the country a portion of its foreign aid from the European Union, in a clear rebuke from the bloc, once a staunch ally.

The European Union said on Friday that it would withhold 1.5 billion euros, or $1.7 billion, from an overall fund of 4.5 billion euros whose disbursement is dependent on achieving good governance standards and that can’t be used for military purchases.

Zelensky had no public comment on the aid cut, which nevertheless was a setback for Ukraine’s leader, who is depending on European financial support to fill gaps left by the Trump administration’s refusal to underwrite Ukraine’s war effort.

Friday’s decision raised questions about whether the glow around Mr. Zelensky might be beginning to dim among Ukraine’s Western allies. James Wasserstrom, an American anticorruption expert, said in an interview that “the luster is definitely coming off” Mr. Zelensky’s wartime leadership among governments providing financial assistance. He added, “There is exasperation at Zelensky in the donor community.”

Japan bets on ultrathin solar panels to drive next phase of clean energy

At Expo 2025 Osaka, Japan is showcasing a breakthrough in solar technology. Covered in over 250 ultrathin perovskite solar panels, the installation reflects Tokyo’s push to lead the next phase of solar power innovation, reduce reliance on Chinese imports, and create new use cases for urban solar deployment.

Named after their crystal structure, perovskite panels are composed of chemical compounds layered just millimetres thick. These flexible, film-like panels can match the power efficiency of conventional polysilicon panels while being 20 times thinner and 10 times lighter.

Their flexibility allows installation on surfaces unsuitable for rigid panels, such as windows, walls, or rooftops unable to support heavy loads. This makes them ideal for densely populated, infrastructure-heavy nations like Japan.

Japan already leads major economies in installed solar capacity per square kilometre of flat land. However, its mountainous geography limits room for large-scale solar farms.

Tokyo now aims to generate up to 29 per cent of its electricity from solar energy by FY40—up from under 10 per cent today—by deploying perovskite panels across urban surfaces.

EU-US tariffs: five key takeaways from the trade deal

Donald Trump has announced a deal with the EU imposing tariffs of 15% on most goods entering the US from Europe and requiring the bloc to make huge investments in US energy products, averting a trade war between the two of the world’s largest economies.

Though the 15% rate is half of what Trump had threatened, many will be disappointed by it. When the UK accepted tariffs of 10% in its trade deal with the US in May, it was widely reported that European leaders considered it to be a bad deal.

Here are five key takeaways:

1. The US will keep in place a 50% tariff on steel and aluminium according to Trump, although European Commission chief Ursula von der Leyen said the tariffs on steel could be replaced with a quota system with further negotiation.

2. On Sunday, a senior US administration official told reporters in Washington that Trump retained the ability to increase the tariffs in the future if European countries do not live up to the investment commitments contained in the deal.

3. The deal creates a division on the island of Ireland, as traders in Northern Ireland can sell into the US on a 10% tariff rate, courtesy of the UK deal, while their neighbours in Ireland will be hit with the 15% rate.

4. Even a 15% tariff rate will have immense negative effects on export-oriented German industry.

5. Tariffs remain much higher than they have been historically. Though von der Leyen framed the agreement as a “good deal” that would bring “stability” and “predictability”, Brussels’ original aim in the talks was for a “zero-for-zero” tariff deal and tariffs remain far higher than historically. US consumers are also likely to bear the costs of tariffs as companies pass on the expense in increased prices, many economists have warned.

Job program for seniors terminated by Government as work requirements loom

"Many of our participants are living on the edge of poverty," said the head of one organization impacted by the termination of the Senior Community Service Employment Program.

Government has reportedly terminated the Department of Labor's only job training program for low-income seniors, a decision that came as older Americans braced for new work reporting requirements under the Republican budget law enacted earlier this month.

Bloomberg Law reported Friday that the Labor Department "quietly ended" its Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP), which helped low-income Americans aged 55 or older find part-time employment or job training at nonprofits and government agencies. The program, described as a bridge to full-time employment, served tens of thousands of people across the country.

The White House has proposed zeroing out funding for SCSEP in its budget request for fiscal year 2026, smearing the program as DEI-promoting entities."
