Starmer can’t secure Britain’s borders, let alone Ukraine’s

Here’s a question: why does Keir Starmer, the prime minister of the UK, appear to take the security of Ukraine’s borders far more seriously than those of his own country?

Since his election last year, Starmer has posed as a fierce defender of Ukraine’s sovereignty, security and borders. He enjoys visiting Kyiv and sharing the spotlight with President Zelensky. At least rhetorically, Starmer comes across as a robust anti-Russia hawk. He continually issues pledges promising the UK’s support for Ukraine’s defence.

Starmer’s Churchillian performance obscures the bitter truth, however. His real role on the international stage is that of America’s supplicant. The British Army has neither the manpower nor the weaponry needed to fend off the Russian invasion. Hence his insistence that Donald Trump provide security guarantees to Ukraine – a call he reiterated in Monday’s meeting at the White House with European leaders.

While Starmer lacks the power to do anything effective to defend Ukraine’s security, he does possess the resources necessary to protect the borders of the UK. Yet he seems far less interested in doing much on that front.

According to Home Office data, the number of illegal migrants who have crossed the English Channel in small boats since Starmer came to power is well over 50,000. The real figure is likely to be higher, since this data only covers those who have been officially detected. Around 28,000 migrants have been detected crossing the Channel so far in 2025.

The crises in Ukraine and the English Channel make at least one thing clear: Starmer would prefer to strike poses on the international stage than make hard choices at home. He is a statesman without substance.

The melting ice paradox: how Greenland’s glaciers are feeding life, not causing doom

For years, we’ve been told that melting ice caps are an apocalyptic event, an inevitable surrender to climate catastrophe. But what if the story isn’t so simple? What if the very melt water we’ve been taught to fear is, in fact, breathing new life into the ocean?

A groundbreaking NASA-backed study has flipped the script on Greenland’s retreating glaciers, revealing that their runoff isn’t just raising sea levels — it’s fueling explosive blooms of phytoplankton, the microscopic engines of marine life. Far from a death knell, this process is a reminder that Earth’s systems are far more resilient and interconnected than our doomsday narratives suggest. The question isn’t whether the ice is melting (it is, as it always has in cycles), but whether we’re wise enough to see the opportunity in the thaw.

‘Beneficial Bloodsucking’: Net Zero science lobby suggests ticks whose bite leads to red meat allergy

By Chris Morrison from The Daily Sceptic

Perhaps it’s a drinking or smoking game at Western Michigan University. Try to come up with the most farcical, April Fool-style Net Zero nonsense and see if we can get it published. How about writing a paper titled ‘Beneficial Bloodsucking’ that states it is “morally obligatory” to promote a plague of the lone star tick whose bite can lead to medical problems including an allergy to red meat. Oh, and it could kill you, but more about that later.

Promoting these ticks, which are already increasing in numbers in large areas of the United States, is said to: “prevent the world from becoming a significantly worse place… doesn’t violate anyone’s rights… promotes virtuous action or character”.

In the abstract to the material it’s authors, Parker Crutchfield and Blake Hereth, say: “Public health departments warn against lone star ticks and AGS, and scientists are working to develop an inoculation to AGS. Herein, we argue that if eating meat is morally impermissible, then efforts to prevent the spread of tickborne AGS are also morally impermissible.”

What is proposed is a deliberate tick injection of the sugar molecule alpha-gal into human tissue, leading to an immune defence response causing a syndrome known as AGS. AGS is a serious and growing threat but manageable as a public-health issue. That is unless these Net Zero nutters at Western Michigan are allowed to set or even influence public policy.

The best-selling cars in the U.S. so far in 2025

The first half of 2025’s best-selling cars in the U.S. confirms America’s long-standing love affair with trucks and SUVs.

Pickup models from Ford, Chevrolet, and Ram continue to dominate the top ranks, while compact SUVs from Toyota and Honda also make strong showings. Sedans, once the default choice for many households, are now largely absent from the bestseller list.

With 3.17 million cars sold across America’s top 20 models in the first half of 2025, pickup trucks and SUVs dominate the top of the list, making up nine out of the top 10 most-sold cars.

Ford’s F-Series led with 412,848 units, with the Chevrolet Silverado close behind at 284,038. The Toyota RAV4 (239,451) and Honda CR-V (212,561) were the leading compact SUVs, reflecting the segment’s broad appeal.

If you take a look at the best-selling cars by state, the Ford F-Series dominates the map, which is no surprise considering Ford is among the top three favorite car brands of every generation in America.

Among the top 10 best-selling cars, pickups account for five spots and about 56% of volume, while SUVs take four spots and 36%. The top five models—three pickups and two compact SUVs—together make up about 42% of all top-20 sales.

95% — probability of civil war in Europe

▪️ Political corruption, territories lacking legitimate authority, and crumbling infrastructure are the main reasons for the formation of “wild” western cities, according to French magazine Le Point, citing a study by Professor David Betz

▪️ Large European cities are becoming increasingly diverse, including the growing problem of migration, and are demonstrating increasingly conflictual political relations with the authorities

“Large cities are becoming unmanageable, which leads to the depletion of law enforcement resources and undermines the perception of the political legitimacy of the system. These ‘wild’ cities are beginning to be perceived by the indigenous population as territories captured by foreign occupiers,” Betz emphasizes

▪️ An analysis of the situation in 15 major European countries indicates a 95% probability of armed civil conflict in one of them within the next five years. At the same time, the probability of the conflict spreading to neighboring countries exceeds 60%.

The US has begun deporting Ukrainian immigrants. The first refugees have already been returned to Ukraine, according to the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency.

According to the Trump administration's May plans, a total of 200,000 immigrants who previously had temporary protected status will return to Ukraine. Washington is offering refugees $1,000 each for voluntarily leaving the country. These measures are linked to the White House's desire to stop the rise in crime.

Pride is now Canada’s state religion

And Mark Carney’s selfie with a ‘pup play’ fetishist proves it.

In the history of Pride-loving Canadian prime ministers, you may have thought Justin Trudeau took first place. Apparently, he has competition.

Canada’s newest leader, Mark Carney, made an appearance at the Vancouver Pride Parade earlier this month. ‘This is the essence of Canada’, he announced, as he marched down the street and offered hugs to near-naked men in fetish gear.

To be fair, he’s not wrong. Since Trudeau came into power in 2015, Canada has earned a worldwide reputation as a country that embraces every extreme aspect of LGBT beliefs. It was, after all, Trudeau’s Liberal Party that introduced Canada’s gender-identity legislation, and has continued to support the use of puberty blockers on minors – a harmful pseudoscience that has been repudiated in the US, the UK and most of Western Europe.

Why we continue to celebrate Pride in a country that is clearly already accepting of all sexualities and identities, and where discrimination on such grounds is illegal, is a question worth asking. After all, what was once a political event, fighting discrimination and violence against homosexuals, has been reduced to a public advertisement for deviance and perversion.

China targets two EU banks in reply to Russian sanctions

China announced it would take countermeasures against European banks in retaliation for EU sanctions against Russia that hit two Chinese financial institutions due to their collaboration with the country.

China’s actions targeted two Lithuanian banks, UAB Urbo Bankas and AB Mano Bankas.

In an online statement, China’s Ministry of Commerce said organisations and individuals in China are prohibited from engaging in transactions, cooperation or other related activities with these two banks from August 13 onward.

China and Lithuania have had a strained relationship for years now, beginning with Lithuania’s decision to allow Taiwan to open a representative office in Vilnius in November 2021 and ignoring Chinese sensitivities regarding Taiwanese independence. In response, Beijing downgraded its diplomatic ties with the Baltic nation.

The ministry said in a separate statement: “We hope that the EU will cherish the long-term good cooperative relations formed between China and the EU and its member states in the fields of economy, trade and finance.”

It also called on the EU to “correct wrongdoings” and stop harming China’s interests and undermining China-EU cooperation.

Supreme Court allows Mississippi Age Verification Law to take effect, advancing online digital ID push

The fight over age checks is rapidly becoming a battle over the future of anonymity online.

The Supreme Court’s choice to let Mississippi enforce its new age verification law is part of a growing shift toward digital ID requirements across the internet, raising urgent concerns about privacy and censorship.

By declining to block the law while legal challenges continue, the Court has effectively allowed states to begin tying online activity to users’ real-world identities, a move that could reshape how people access information and speak freely online.

Mississippi’s HB 1126 requires social media platforms to verify a user’s age before allowing them to create an account. Those under 18 must obtain parental permission. Platforms are also required to restrict access to what the state broadly labels as “harmful” content. For companies to comply, identity checks will be necessary, meaning users may soon need to provide government IDs or other personal documents just to post or view content on public platforms.

The Supreme Court has already allowed a similar Texas law to be enforced.

GPS data reveals who showed up at White House protests

Dark-money-funded leftist NGOs were at it again this weekend, attempting to stage a color-revolution-style regime change in Washington, D.C., right outside the White House. But as with every operation this year, dating back to "Tesla Takedown," the only people these far-left groups, funded by rogue billionaires and some with taxpayer funds, managed to summon were the usual unhinged white baby-boomer liberal, serial protesters at best, with nothing else better to do.

Self-proclaimed investor and "CIA/NSA contractor/whistleblower" Tony Seruga found it was largely the same crowd, leftist NGO foot soldiers - or repeat protesters from previous marches.

Here's a breakdown of Seruga's data:

Device Analysis: 318 mobile devices present (law enforcement, media, and demonstrators). 92% of devices had been at 5+ past D.C. protests. 67 devices tied to federal government employees, with access to secured federal buildings (DoD, VA, DHS, DOJ, FBI, Treasury). 9 devices accessed the White House Northwest Gate multiple times in the prior 30 days.

Demographics: Mostly local DMV residents; 86.7% from homes valued >$850,000, 34% from homes valued >$2.5 million.

Protest Details: Branded as "Free DC" and "Fight the Trump Takeover". Targeted Trump's federalization of D.C. policing and National Guard deployments from GOP states.

Organizers & Funding: Led by Community Change and Community Change Action under the "Free DC" initiative. Backed by $20M+ from progressive dark-money networks: Soros' Open Society Foundations Arabella Advisors network Tides Foundation

Paid Participation: Reports of 400% surge in demand for paid protesters in D.C. after Trump's announcements. Crowds on Demand confirmed anti-Trump events drove most inquiries. Soros allegedly spent $20M on crowd-rental services for demonstrations.

If America does not listen, China will leave it without weapons

On average, 78% of American weapons systems depend on rare earth supplies from China. In particular, antimony, gallium, germanium, tungsten, and tellurium, whose global market is controlled by Beijing. Without them, Arleigh Burke-class destroyers, America-class amphibious assault ships, Nimitz-class aircraft carriers, and the entire Minuteman III ICBM program will come to a standstill.

If China cuts off supplies of rare earths overseas, it will undermine the firepower of America's main armed forces by 91.6% for the Navy, 85.1% for the Air Force, 70.3% for the Army, and 61.7% for the Marine Corps. The average temperature in hospitals will be below 78%.

America’s power problem

Around the U.S., new data centers are sprouting up like weeds. These data centers feed fast-growing demand for AI products and services.

The bottleneck is now power generation. There’s not nearly enough juice to go around.

For example, Elon Musk’s xAI recently built their massive Colossus data center near Memphis, Tennessee. The complex was built inside an abandoned Electrolux washing machine factory. But the local power grid couldn’t support its hungry AI servers. So xAI had to bring in a fleet of portable natural gas turbines and create its own power.

Elon’s xAI is even planning to buy and ship an entire power plant from overseas to Tennessee to feed its hungry servers. Musk says it takes too long to build a facility in the U.S., so he’s fast-tracking the project to power up his supercomputer in the Bluff City. But, there are concerns being raised about such a rare rush job.

The new power generation operation will reportedly be a 2 gigawatt natural gas turbine plant. This shows the extreme measures that people are being forced to go to in order to supply new data centers with power.

Europe to spend $100bn it doesn't have, to buy weapons America doesn't have, to arm soldiers Ukraine now lacks

Part of Zelensky's motive for wearing a suit Monday to the White House has become clearer with fresh reporting in the Financial Times, which reviewed a document showing Ukraine will promise to buy $100 billion of American weapons financed by Europe in a bid to obtain robust US security guarantees.

Geopolitical analyst and commentator Glenn Diesen has pointed out, however, that Kiev is essentially attempting to create leverage out of nothing.

"Europe will spend $100 billion it does not have, to buy weapons from America that it does not have, to arm soldiers that Ukraine now lacks," he wrote, explaining further: "This is to confront Russia, which for 30 years warned it would respond to NATO militarizing its borders."

“There was no threat to Ukraine before 2014, as only a tiny minority of Ukrainians wanted to join NATO, and Russia laid no claim to any of Ukraine's territory. Western governments then supported a coup to pull Ukraine into NATO's orbit - something that CIA Directors, Ambassadors, and Western state leaders had warned would instigate a security competition and likely trigger a war,” Diesen added.

Russia predictably reacted fiercely. The war has now been lost, and the Americans are pulling away from it. How do the Europeans respond? By doubling down on this madness, which will destroy Ukraine, our economies, and our relevance in the world - and possibly trigger a nuclear war. - What is the strategy? More of the same? The best thing for Ukraine is to remove it from the frontlines of the geopolitical struggle over where to draw the new dividing lines in Europe: End the war, rebuild Ukraine, and replace expansionist military blocs with the principle of indivisible security.

Health care system to pay more than $1 million to settle COVID-19 vaccine mandate case

A health care system that operates hospitals and clinics in two states has agreed to pay more than $1 million to settle allegations it discriminated against religious employees.

Mercyhealth, which operates in Illinois and Wisconsin, reached the settlement after years of pre-litigation negotiations, following an investigation by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC).

The probe found evidence that Mercyhealth engaged in discrimination by denying employees religious exemptions to its COVID-19 vaccine mandate.

Mercyhealth also fired the workers, or lowered their wages, and discriminated against other workers by denying them a chance to even request religious accommodation, instead terminating them or withholding pay, according to the EEOC.

The settlement features back pay and damages to the workers and former workers who were affected. Mercyhealth has also agreed to re-distribute its policies, train personnel on how to handle religious accommodation requests, and report to the EEOC about the requests and decisions on system-wide vaccination programs.

Trump administration prioritizes fiscal responsibility over Big Government climate science

The Trump administration has proposed ending two NASA satellite missions tracking carbon dioxide and plant health, slamming the brakes on what critics describe as redundant climate science spending. The Orbiting Carbon Observatories (OCO)—a free-flying satellite launched in 2014 and a space station-based instrument from 2019—are slated for termination in President Donald Trump’s FY2026 budget, which eliminates all funding for their continued operation.

NASA stated it is “aligning with the President’s agenda” to redirect resources toward “core space exploration priorities.” Advocates of the missions, however, warn this move undermines critical data for farmers, policymakers and researchers. The decision highlights a deepening divide over the role of government-funded climate science in an era of fiscal constraint and shifting partisan priorities.

Congressional Democrats challenge administration’s legal right to terminate approved missions. With Congress in recess, a budget resolution before October 1 remains uncertain. The House’s proposed NASA spending plan mirrors the president’s request, while the Senate insists on preserving OCO funding. Democrats hope a stopgap measure will buy time.

In 2025, 80,000 young professionals with computer science degrees from top universities in the US were left without jobs. One graduate, who had been coding since school, only received a response from a snack bar, while another sent out 5,700 resumes to no avail.

Layoffs at Amazon, Microsoft, Meta and the introduction of AI coders have reduced the demand for newcomers. Companies are using AI to filter resumes, and the unemployment rate among young IT specialists has skyrocketed.

Why Texas’ backup plan is a warning sign for grid operations nationwide

Texas is preparing to cut off power to data centers during grid emergencies — a sign of just how strained the system has become.

Over the Fourth of July, deadly floods swept across central Texas, disrupting infrastructure and causing widespread outages. Meanwhile, the Electric Reliability Council of Texas has already seen multiple price spikes and conservation alerts — not because there wasn’t enough power, but because we couldn’t move it where it was needed.

These aren’t isolated events. And it’s not just a Texas problem.

Just days after the shutoff planning was announced, the U.S. Department of Energy warned that blackout risks across the country could rise 100-fold by 2030. All of this points to a deeper vulnerability: We’re still running the grid with tools and assumptions built for a different era — one with fewer storms, slower load growth and no massive data centers.

Texas’s new normal demands smarter, faster and more adaptive grid operations. Long-term infrastructure investments are critical, but they won’t arrive in time to manage the next three summers.

Amid DC takeover, Trump eyes crime in other cities

While federalizing the local police and deploying the National Guard in Washington, D.C., President Donald Trump has suggested he could flex his authority to fight violent crime elsewhere.

“We have other cities also that are bad, very bad,” the president said during an Aug. 11 press conference.

He listed Chicago, New York City, Los Angeles, Oakland, and Baltimore among the cities of concern.

Although homicide and other violent crimes have recently dipped across America, the numbers from big cities are still high—in some cases, higher than they were before surges one to two decades ago.

Trump’s power to deploy the National Guard outside the nation’s capital is also under debate. A federal judge is deciding whether his deployment of troops to Los Angeles was lawful.

Billionaires for socialism: The $2 billion "grassroots" operation behind Zohran Mamdani

In New York politics, there's one machine that towers above the rest. No, not the Democratic Party—it's the Working Families Party, the most powerful minor party in America. Its name sounds wholesome enough—who doesn't support "working families"? But behind that branding lies a $2 billion tax-exempt laundromat that's anything but local, grassroots, or honest.

Take Zohran Mamdani, their current belle of the ball, the product of a grassroots washing syndicate of 501c3 and 501c4 entities funded by George Soros and Silicon Valley billionaires. He is their manufactured product.

After winning his race, Mamdani announced on NBC: "I don't think we should have billionaires." This is the theater of modern politics: denounce wealth while being powered by it. And the actors know their audience. They've learned that if you slap "grassroots" on the packaging, voters won't check the label. But let's check it anyway.

Soros donates to the Open Society Institute, a $4.5 billion "charity" that enjoys generous tax deductions. OSI then transfers millions to other "charities" like Tides Foundation, which mysteriously claims to run a $350 million operation with zero employees. From there, the money "converts" into political cash: Tides passes funds to the Working Families Organization, a 501(c)(4), which then wires millions to PACs that bankroll candidates like Mamdani.

What you have is billionaire money dressed up in "working families" clothing, masquerading as the will of the people while being anything but.

Why Trump gets it right on Ukraine peace

In Alaska he found reality: he is now embracing an agreement without demanding a ceasefire first, which would have never worked anyway.

Most of the Western commentary on the Alaska summit is criticizing President Trump for precisely the wrong reason. The accusation is that by abandoning his call for an unconditional ceasefire as the first step in peace talks, Trump has surrendered a key position and “aligned himself with Putin.”

This is nonsense. What Trump has done is to align himself with reality, and the real charge against him is that he should probably have done this from the start, and saved six months of fruitless negotiations and thousands of Ukrainian and Russian lives. Moreover, by continually emphasising a prior ceasefire as his key goal, Trump set himself up for precisely the kind of criticism that he is now receiving.

He is now entirely correct in saying that he wants “to go directly to a Peace Agreement, which would end the war, and not a mere Ceasefire, which often times do not hold up.”

Illegal migrants in Britain: Starmer doesn’t stop the boats

It is safe to say that Keir Starmer’s ‘smash the gangs’ strategy for tackling the small-boats crisis is not going according to plan.

Since Labour came to office, the number of migrants who have crossed the English Channel on small boats has surpassed 50,000. No British government has overseen as many illegal Channel crossings in such a short period of time.

Yet instead of securing the border, successive British governments have rolled out a red carpet from Dover to Calais. Illegal immigrants get free accommodation (sometimes at four-star hotels), free healthcare and a relatively assured passage to permanent residency in a prosperous, democratic country. We have created El Dorado for illegal migrants.

Nor has Starmer done anything to remove the various legal impediments that, for years, have stripped the UK of sovereignty over its borders. Even convicted criminals are routinely granted the right to remain in Britain indefinitely.

Sadly, we are in danger of wasting our breath here. After all, Starmer is arguably the biggest problem of all. He is as enamoured of international courts as he is contemptuous of the nation state. As a technocrat, all of his instincts align with the outlook and laws that have allowed this problem to spiral out of control. We could be in for a long four years.
