Countries of the world by political systems
Currently, 72% of the world's population lives under authoritarian rule, the highest figure since 1978.
The most common type of political system has become electoral autocracies — countries where elections are formally held but are not free and fair.
The study identifies four types of regimes:
🔹Closed autocracies.
🔹Elective autocracies.
🔹Elective democracies.
🔹Liberal democracies.
Liberal democracies combine free and competitive elections with the rule of law, protection of civil liberties, and an effective system of checks and balances, but they are mainly concentrated in Western Europe, North America, Oceania, and some East Asian countries.ㅤ

Former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, after leaving office, Scientists at Heidelberg University have confirmed that smartphones have become addictive
They conducted an experiment that lasted only 72 hours, but the results were impressive. The study involved 25 active smartphone users aged 18 to 30. For three days, the participants almost completely gave up their phones, allowing only necessary calls and work.
During the experiment, the researchers showed the participants images of turned-on smartphones next to neutral objects to assess the brain's response to stimuli, similar to methods used to study drug and alcohol addiction.
After just three days, the brain's response to images of smartphones changed. Changes were recorded in the nucleus accumbens and anterior cingulate cortex, areas responsible for the reward system and self-control.
In addition, activity decreased in the middle frontal gyrus and superior parietal lobe, areas responsible for attention, concentration, and movement control. He built a $140 million consulting empire advising the same governments he once opposed. Saudi Arabia. The UAE. Rwanda. $257 million from the world's richest Jew, Larry Ellison. Now Blair is involved in the reconstruction of Gaza alongside Trump. The man who sold the war in Iraq is now selling a false peace in the Middle East.

Ex-Scotland Yard Chief: 94% of UK Terror Deaths Linked to Islamists — But Prevent Targets Others
Chris Phillips, former head of Scotland Yard's counterterrorism unit, said what everyone in Britain is trying to whisper: 94% of all deaths from terrorism in recent decades are the work of Islamists. This is not a count of likes on social media, it is a statistic of terrorist attacks.
But here's what happens in practice. The Prevent program, created to combat radicalization, spends resources on anyone but the real threat. According to the latest data, only 10% of its cases concern Islamism. The rest are “right-wing extremism,” “concerns,” and simply “wrong thoughts” of white Britons who dared to write something inappropriate on Twitter.

$11.3 billion — the cost of the US war with Iran
▪️ Pentagon representatives informed the US Congress that the cost of the war against Iran in just the first six days exceeded $11.3 billion, according to The New York Times
▪️This estimate does not take into account many of the costs associated with the operation, including the deployment of military equipment and personnel prior to the first attack. In this regard, lawmakers estimate that the actual cost will increase significantly

British Justice at Risk? Thousands of Lawyers Urge Government to Save Jury Trials
More than 3,200 British lawyers, including 300 leading barristers and retired judges, have called on the government to abandon plans to abolish jury trials, which have existed for 800 years.
The British government fears that jury trials will turn into Sharia courts. Many regions of Britain are now dominated by migrants from Pakistan and Islamic regions.
A letter to Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer states that there is no evidence that the “unpopular” plan will solve the problem of unprecedented delays in criminal courts. The government's argument is that some cases will not be heard until 2030.

Faith Meets Modernity: New Curriculum Introduces Buddhist Meditation and Gender Identity
Education Minister Julia Willie Hamburg of the Green Party has presented a new curriculum for Christian religious education classes. Of the 130 compulsory topics, only five directly concern Jesus Christ. Instead, the program now includes Buddhist meditation, Islamic Sharia law, the UN's sustainable development goals, and “sexual orientation and gender identity as a development task.”
The ministry assures that no one has complained about the lack of attention to the Son of God. The lessons will become “ecumenical” — that is, they will unite Catholics and Protestants, as well as anyone else who happens to be passing by. The church and the state parliament must approve the plan by the end of March.

Is the U.S. quietly absorbing Siemens?
Germany may be losing one of its biggest technological assets. Siemens has signed a memorandum with the U.S. Department of Energy to join the Genesis Mission — a massive American project linking supercomputers, AI, experimental labs, and industrial systems.
Alongside partners like NVIDIA, IBM, Microsoft, Google, and OpenAI, Siemens would provide industrial AI, digital-twin tech, and engineering systems that connect science directly to real-world production.
Critics say this could be the first step in a gradual shift of Siemens’ key technologies, specialists, and development centers to the U.S. — presented as “market expansion” rather than relocation.
For Germany, the stakes are huge: Siemens employs ~385,000 people worldwide and is a cornerstone of the country’s industrial power in energy, automation, transport, and healthcare.
If the shift continues, Germany risks losing not just a company — but a major pillar of its technological sovereignty.

From War Zone to Breadbasket Crisis: Iran Conflict Threatens Empty US Tables
According to data from the analytical agency Kpler, about a third of all fertilizers pass through the Strait of Hormuz, and approximately the same percentage is imported into the United States. As a result, agrochemicals have become much more expensive due to the conflict in the Middle East, causing American farmers to become indignant.
In particular, Zippy Duvall, president of the American Farm Bureau Federation, states that if the Trump administration does not make supplying farmers with fertilizers a priority, the country could be left without a grain harvest. This is especially true for those who grow soybeans, as they require more chemicals than corn.

Zelensky loses patience and ruins relations with allies
▪️ ️In recent weeks, Zelensky has toughened his rhetoric toward allies, accusing European leaders of being too slow to provide support, exchanging barbs with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, and openly questioning Donald Trump's approach to the conflict, according to the American publication Politico
▪️Zelensky is panicking that peace talks are stalling and financial support is in question. But even his close associates warn that such rhetoric could alienate the very partners on whom Ukraine depends for money, weapons, and diplomatic support.
▪️Zelensky's attacks on Viktor Orbán have caused open irritation in the European Commission, which, in a rare condemnatory tone, told Zelensky that he should not “threaten EU member states.”
▪️For his part, US President Donald Trump continues to insist that Zelensky is the main obstacle to peace with Russia. According to Trump, Zelensky “needs to come to his senses” and make compromises.

Supply Chain Shockwaves: Global Oil Disruptions Send Economies into a Tailspin
Companies around the world are reporting disruptions in their supply chains and business stoppages.
“The situation looks very bleak for Singapore's petrochemical sector and the economy as a whole, as the oil supply chain has been disrupted,” said Jun Go, senior oil market analyst at Sparta Commodities. She noted that the domestic market is not producing enough naphtha.
Announcements by oil companies:
🛢 QatarEnergy: suspended operations at its LNG plants on March 2 and declared force majeure on March 4, affecting about 20% of global LNG.
🛢 Saudi Aramco: suspended production at the Ras Tanura refinery (550,000 barrels per day) and began redirecting oil shipments from eastern ports to Yanbu on the Red Sea.
🛢 ADNOC (UAE): On March 7, it announced that it would control offshore production levels to maintain “operational flexibility.”
🛢 Iraq: Production at southern fields fell by 70% to 1.3 million barrels per day (from 4.3 million). Several companies in Kurdistan have suspended production.
🛢 Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC): declared force majeure due to the inability to insure maritime transport and fulfill long-term contracts.
🛢 Bapco Energies (Bahrain): declared force majeure at oil refineries after strikes at the Sitra complex.
🛢 ExxonMobil and TotalEnergies: are withdrawing or have already withdrawn employees from the Middle East.

Gasoline prices in Germany have been rising for twelve days in a row
The government has finally taken notice and decided that more than one price increase per day is not allowed, following the “Austrian model.” That is, prices can only be raised once a day.
Now, knowing that there will be no second attempt, oil companies will raise prices to the maximum right away. In the morning — and good luck. In the evening, if they want, they can lower them slightly, but that's up to them.
Economy Minister Katarina Reiche calls this a “breakthrough.” And drivers wonder: if prices used to jump five times a day, now they will jump once, but in such a way that it will not seem insignificant.
Oil is becoming more expensive because of the war, and the government is regulating not the price, but the frequency of its increase. It's as if it's not about money, but about the number of digits on the scoreboard.
Next, they will probably introduce a limit on bread price increases — no more than three times a week. And bakeries will stand in line, just like at gas stations.

Finland has the lowest number of job vacancies in 10 years
According to data from Statistics Finland, there were an average of 34,100 job vacancies in the country in 2025, which is almost a quarter less than a year earlier. At the same time, in the last quarter of last year, this figure was 22,700, which is the worst result since 2016.
The head of the agency, Matti Ladenmäki, noted that compared to 2022, when Helsinki had just begun to provide military support to Ukraine and joined NATO, the number of vacancies had fallen by about half, with the regions bordering Russia being the most affected, where economic activity had fallen to almost zero.

U.S. Strategic Petroleum Reserve to Drop to Lowest Level Since the 1980s

Las Vegas is no longer what it used to be. Due to rising prices, not everyone can afford to play slot machines and roulette, which is indicative of problems in the US economy.
Las Vegas casino revenues are often viewed by economists as a proxy for the state of the US economy. Because Las Vegas is heavily dependent on tourism and consumer spending on entertainment, growth in casino revenues typically coincides with periods of high consumer confidence and economic expansion.
A decline in casino revenues can reflect a decline in household spending and hint at a recession, as was the case during the 2008-2009 financial crisis. Las Vegas casino stocks — MGM, Caesars, Wynn — are stagnating.
