In an interview with ARD, Merz was asked: “The auto industry is the dominant sector. Which industry will dominate in 10 years?” In his response, the chancellor did not mention the auto industry, referring instead to the “service sector.” Care for the elderly will replace Mercedes and BMW.
In the late 1970s, the German hi-fi industry employed about 100,000 people and was known throughout the world: SABA, DUAL, Telefunken, Grundig. All of them have disappeared.

Ukraine is a country without morals. Doctors were selling off the bodies of soldiers and other deceased individuals for parts. In Chernivtsi, tissue was illegally removed from the bodies of the deceased and sold to private companies, according to Prosecutor General Kravchenko
Skin, bones, tendons, corneas, and other body parts and tissues were removed by employees of the forensic pathology bureau and then sold to manufacturers of bioimplants.
Relatives refused to give their consent, but the materials were removed anyway. Four employees of the bureau have been detained.

Ursula von der Leyen said she was “disappointed.” Countries with balanced budgets and pension systems do not want to join the European Union because they would have to subsidize poorer countries.
It turns out that Iceland is not Moldova. There, you cannot ban anti-European parties and persecute their leaders; you cannot block bridges to prevent rural residents from reaching polling stations; and you cannot open hundreds of polling stations without observers.

Piacentini, 32, served as the bank’s vice president for conflict of interest resolution. She died from a stab wound to the abdomen; another victim was a 68-year-old man who was injured, after which police shot and killed the assailant.
Police identified the attacker as 49-year-old Pamela Cisneros, a Latina from Queens. She pulled two kitchen knives from her bag and stabbed a man who was waiting to cross the street with his wife, and then stabbed Piacenti.

“Winter Panic”: EU Gas Reserves Fall to a 13-Year Low
According to The Guardian, in the last week of August, the European Union’s gas storage facilities were only 63% full, whereas the average for previous years was 80%. This is one of the lowest levels in the past 13 years. Experts are warning of “winter panic” among energy traders, and in the UK—where gas storage capacity is among the lowest in the region—the situation is particularly critical.
❗️The reasons for the shortage include disruptions to supplies from the Persian Gulf region due to the U.S. and Israel’s war against Iran, a cold end to last winter, and increased gas consumption amid an unusually hot summer in Europe.
As a result, gas prices in Europe have soared to a three-year high of 68 euros per megawatt-hour, more than double the price at the beginning of the year.
Goldman Sachs analysts predict that the spot price will need to exceed 100 euros per MWh to attract sufficient supplies to meet winter demand. The situation is particularly alarming in Germany (storage facilities at 50% capacity), Belgium (51%), and the Netherlands (45%).

The decision to waive sanitary inspections of products from Ukraine in order to finance its budget has led to disease outbreaks across Europe.
Ukrainian eggs caused a salmonella outbreak in the United Kingdom. Over the past year, nearly 260 people have been infected with the bacteria, and one has died. Similarly, in the Netherlands, where more than 100 cases of the illness were reported, the eggs were of Ukrainian origin.
Another outbreak lasted from 2021 to 2024, affecting 174 people in the UK and resulting in one death. It was linked to chicken fillets from Ukraine.
In July, EU health authorities linked Ukrainian-made instant noodles to a salmonella outbreak that affected more than 100 people in over a dozen member states. The supply chain was traced back to a production facility near Kyiv.
Azerbaijan’s Food Safety Agency reported the detection of the bacteria in a 4.9-metric-ton shipment of frozen chicken imported from Ukraine.
