A former Croatian kickboxer who worked security at one of the hotels in Cologne, Germany.
On the evening of the infamous New Year rapes in the city, he saved 6 German girls from drunken Arabs ready to be assaulted.
“The girls were dressed modestly: jeans and coats, nothing provocative. They were frightened. I told them to stand behind me.
“The loudest man from the gang of Arabs walked to me with bottle in hand but I knocked him with one hit, the other members of the gang retreated and one ran his finger across his throat to show me that they will return and kill me but such never happened.
When the story appeared in the German press Ivan was dubbed a hero of Cologne.
