Indian Pharmaceutical Industry
✅ Indian pharmaceutical industry is the 3rd largest pharmaceutical industry in the world by volume with current market size of around USD 50 Billions.

Milk Production in India
– India is the largest producer of milk in the world, contributing 24% of global milk production in 2021-22.
– The top 5 milk-producing states are: Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Andhra Pradesh together contribute 53% of total milk production in the country
Organic Farming in India
✅India occupies fifth place globally with a total area of 2.66 million hectares in organic farming.
✅Madhya Pradesh has the largest area under organic certification followed by Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Gujarat and Karnataka.
✅Sikkim is India’s first fully organic state, with implementing organic practices on around 75,000 hectares of agricultural land.
✅In 2022-23, India produced around 2.9 million metric tonnes of certified organic products like oil seeds, cereals and millets, cotton, pulses among others.
✅The exports of India’s organic products stood at $708 million in 2022-23 and considering the global market size of around $138 billion, there is a tremendous scope to increase the organic exports in the near future.

Sports Sector in India

The National Statistical Office (NSO) has released its first advance estimates of national income for 2023-24. CRIME AGAINST WOMEN
✅Crimes against women have increased year on year. As per the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) report 2015, every day 21 women die because of dowry in India.
✅ According to the NCRB report 2019, 4 lakh cases were registered under Section 498A of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
✅ As per the National Family Health Survey 5 (2019- 20), 30 percent of women between the ages of 18 and 49 experienced physical violence from the age of 15 ( that's over 20 crore women), while six per cent experienced sexual violence in their lifetime.
✅ In 2021, 136,000 complaints were registered under Indian Penal Code Section 498A (cruelty by husband or his relatives).
✅According to NFHS data, 87 per cent of married women who are victims of marital violence do not seek help.

✅As per United Nations Conventions on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities PWDs include those who have long-term physical, mental, intellectual or sensory impairments which in interaction with various barriers may hinder their full and effective participation in society on an equal basis with others.
✅As per National Family Health Survey, India’s population of people with a disability has reduced to 1% between 2019 and 2021, from the 2.2% (26.8 million) estimated by the Indian census in 2011.
✅As per 2011 population census, 20% of persons with disabilities in India have a disability in movement, 19% have a disability in seeing, 19% have a disability in hearing and 8% have multiple disabilities.

Findings of HCES 2022-23
The urban-rural consumption divide has narrowed to 71% in 2022-23 from a peak of 91% in 2004-05, so inequality is declining.
Rural households spending on food has dropped below 50% of their total expenditure for the first time ever.
There is a sharp rise in urban and rural consumption by over 2.5 times from 2011-12 levels in current prices, hence India’s growth is not restricted to a few, but is very broad-based.
As per the Niti Aayog’s multi-dimensional poverty index 2023, 11% of the population was below the poverty line, based on which it has argued that 25 crore people have escaped poverty

Current Status of Coal Reserve
India has rich deposits of coal in the world. Total estimated reserves of coal as on 01-04-2022 were 361.41 billion tonnes.
The top three states with highest coal reserves in India are Odisha, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, which accounts for approximately 69% of the total coal reserves in the country.
India is the second largest producer and consumer of coal globally after China, surpassing the USA in 2022.
