❗️ The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has called on parliaments, international organisations and governments to support the Global Peace Summit, said Oleksandr Merezhko, the Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Policy and Interparliamentary Cooperation.
Ukraine called on other countries to resist russia's attempts to prevent the Summit.
The appeal of the Parliament is a signal that Ukraine is not alone in its quest for peace.

Today is a professional holiday for Ukrainian media professionals!
The Journalist's Day is celebrated in Ukraine on 6 June, as it was on this day in 1992 that the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine was admitted to the International Federation of Journalists.
The journalism profession is one of the most important in the world. It is media professionals — journalists, film and television cameramen, directors — who have written and are writing the history of our time for our descendants.
Thanks to truthful articles and TV reports from the front line, the international community has become aware that the entire democratic world must stand shoulder to shoulder with the people of Ukraine to protect democracy and the most important European values — peace and the right to life.
As of 30 May 2024, since the beginning of russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the occupiers have killed more than 90 Ukrainian journalists. We bow our heads to the memory of the Heroes.
The Youth and Sports Committee

Journalism is not just a profession, but a vocation that requires high responsibility, moral fortitude and a continuous pursuit of truth.
We express our special gratitude to those journalists who, despite all the difficulties, continue their work in the face of war.
Your efforts are invaluable, as you risk your lives every day to provide objective coverage of events, ensure truthful information and support the spirit of the nation.
Your reports, articles and investigations help to keep us in touch with reality and keep the public informed about the most important events.
We wish you good health, unwavering faith in yourself, new creative achievements and inspiration in your difficult but important work.

This agreement is extremely important for the restoration of Chornobyl. USD 12 million will help us implement priority projects and start the long-awaited restoration of the zone.
The money will be transferred to the state account and used for the immediate needs of the exclusion zone, in particular for:
- replenishment of equipment stocks;
- the agreement is aimed at restoring the operation of the Chornobyl NPP and other enterprises.

✍🏼 The Journalist's Day.
We sincerely congratulate wordsmiths on their professional holiday!
Your work is a powerful tool in the fight for truth, justice and freedom of speech.
Today, in the context of the brutal war waged by russia against Ukraine, your mission is of particular importance. You are the eyes and voices of the world, telling the truth about what is happening at the frontline, about the heroism of our defenders, about the suffering of civilians and the indomitable Ukrainian spirit.
Thanks to you, the world learns about the crimes of the aggressor — and this evidence is extremely important for documenting historical truth and bringing the perpetrators to justice.
We wish you inspiration, endurance and safety in your hard work.
May the truth always be on your side, and may your word be strong and influential.
🇺🇦🇹🇷 I met with the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Ukraine Mustafa Levent Bilgen.
We are grateful to Turkey for its principled support of Ukraine's territorial integrity, diplomatic and humanitarian assistance, and contribution to Ukraine's reconstruction.
We discussed preparations for the Berlin Conference on the Restoration of Ukraine and the Peace Summit in Switzerland. The Ambassador confirmed that Turkey supports the Ukrainian Peace Formula and will participate in both important events.
I told him that on behalf of the Parliament of Ukraine, I am working on the return of illegally deported Ukrainian children and parliamentary diplomacy. We hope that Turkey will also join the process of returning Ukrainian children.
I asked the Ambassador to assist in organising summer holidays and psychological rehabilitation in Turkey for Ukrainian children of war.

It is symbolic that today, on Europe Day, the President of the European Parliament, Metsola, is with us in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
For 13 packages of tough sanctions.
For the approval of the EUR 50 billion Ukrainian Fund.
For supporting the status of candidates for accession and the start of the negotiation process.
For her help and support in the financial, humanitarian, military and political spheres.
For the solidarity with the Ukrainian people.
I am pleased to hear the recognition of the record pace of European integration on our part and the position that nothing about Ukraine without Ukraine.
Ms. Roberta noted that a recent poll on Europe's reaction to the situation in our country shows strong support.
"The European Union is a political project that is being strengthened in crises. This is a project of hope, freedom, and democracy. These are the values that Ukraine defends on the battlefield."
The First Vice Speaker Oleksandr Korniyenko
❗️ The Parliament has taken an important step towards solving the urgent problems that have arisen as a result of the armed aggression against Ukraine, — the Chairman of the Human Rights Committee Andriy Zadorozhny commented on the adoption of draft laws No. 11017 and No. 9585.
The adopted Law of Ukraine on the Provision of Certain Administrative Services to Citizens of Ukraine, Including Abroad (No. 11017) establishes an indefinite period of validity of the passport of a citizen of Ukraine in the form of a card for persons over 65 years of age.
The Draft Law of Ukraine No. 9585), adopted in the first reading, provides for the regulation of the rights and obligations of foreigners, in particular those who are deprived of the opportunity to complete the procedure for acquiring Ukrainian citizenship due to the severance of diplomatic relations between Ukraine and their countries of origin.
🇺🇦🇪🇺 Over the past month, russia has significantly intensified its missile terror against Ukrainian cities and communities.
During my bilateral meeting with the President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola, which had to be held in a shelter due to an air raid alert, I first of all emphasized the importance of strengthening military support from the EU countries.
We also discussed Ukraine's path to full accession in the European Union and the importance of quickly adopting a negotiating framework.
I emphasized the need to maintain the dynamics of institutional cooperation between parliaments.
I am grateful to the European Parliament for its unwavering support of Ukraine, for all the political decisions taken, and for the creation of an international coalition in support of our country.

russia continues to target Ukraine with missile and drone strikes, killing Ukrainians and destroying critical infrastructure.
The terrorist state deliberately and purposefully targets energy system facilities in an attempt to destroy them.
Today, I visited one of the energy facilities targeted by the enemy together with the President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola.
russian troops destroyed all generating equipment, and the power plant lost all generating capacity.
Therefore, it is extremely important to protect the facilities with air defense systems. This is the main thing I emphasized during the meeting.
We also discussed the importance of providing equipment packages for the restoration of energy infrastructure.

🇺🇦🇪🇺 Congratulations on the Day of Europe! On the Day of our irreversible civilizational European choice.
We, Ukrainians, are a peaceful European people. We have a European identity and consciousness. We share the same values — dignity, freedom, democracy, equality and human rights.
For its European choice, Ukraine pays the highest price — with the lives of the best people — the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred, our Defenders.
We are grateful to the EU for its assistance, for the creation of a 50 billion euro fund to support Ukraine. We will not forget the shelter of more than 4.5 million Ukrainians.
We, as a country and the Verkhovna Rada, are diligently doing our homework. More than 60 European integration laws have been adopted in the course of more than 2 years of full-scale war. The Parliament has done everything in its power to ensure that Ukraine receives candidate status and can start negotiations on joining the EU.

❗️ The Parliament's address to the world institutions to recognize the deportation of Crimean Tatars in 1944 as genocide is both humanitarian and political in nature, — the Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Policy and Interparliamentary Cooperation Oleksandr Merezhko.
The Parliament calls on its partners not only to recognize the deportation of Crimean Tatars from Crimea in 1944 as an act of genocide, but also to support the creation of a Special International Tribunal for the crime of russian aggression against Ukraine, to support President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's "Peace Formula", and to increase pressure on the aggressor state to stop its crimes, including the oppression of Crimean Tatars in the occupied territory.

🕯️ The Journalist's Day in Ukraine as a Day of Remembrance... According to the NUJU, 91 media professionals have been killed since the beginning of the full-scale russian invasion. Many of them paid the ultimate price for Ukraine's freedom and independence during their military service, fulfilling their civic duty with dignity. Another 30 media professionals were taken prisoner by the occupiers.
We are grateful to each and every one of you, to all journalists and media representatives who, in the most difficult conditions of war, do their job honestly, professionally, responsibly, with high standards. Sometimes without electricity, from underground studios during alarms and missile attacks, and directly in the field.
I thank everyone who makes their personal contribution to documenting the war crimes of the russian federation, to truthfully informing society and the international community about the consequences of the aggression, about the fates of the affected adults and children, about the daily heroism of the Armed Forces and the unwavering struggle of the Ukrainian people against the russian invasion.

‼️ Kakhovka HPP. A year after the tragedy.
On 6 June, we commemorate the tragic anniversary of the blowing up of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station by the russian occupiers in 2023.
It was not just a terrorist attack, but an act of ecocide against the Ukrainian people and the environment. It was a crime against humanity for which the occupiers must be held accountable.
Today we bow our heads to the memory of the victims and thank the rescuers who selflessly helped people.
We believe that Ukraine will win and Kakhovka HPP will be rebuilt.

The Journalist's Day.
Today is a professional holiday for media representatives who work every day to ensure that each of us receives important information in a timely manner. Those who are always analysing data and expert opinions, refuting fakes, and always on the ground and in the thick of things.
I am grateful to each and every one of you who honourably follow your profession and know the power of words. Thank you for your high-quality news, stories and reports, interesting interviews and apt shots.
I would like to pay special tribute to military journalists who work despite the risks and dangers to tell the world the truth about the enemy's heinous crimes and the heroism of Ukraine's defenders.

🌱 The World Environment Day was established by the UN General Assembly at its 27th session in 1972 — the Committee on Environmental Policy.
This day has become a global event designed to draw attention to environmental issues and inspire people to take action to save our planet.
This year's date is particularly relevant for Ukraine, which continues to repair the damage caused by full-scale russian aggression since the beginning of 2022.
The military actions have caused and continue to cause significant devastating damage to the Ukrainian nature of exceptional beauty: forests, landscape areas of forested plains with unique black soil of the steppe zone, polluted rivers and rare wetlands, damaged ecosystems of nature reserve sites — all that needs our care, close attention and comprehensive restoration.
We urge everyone to join forces to preserve and restore the environment of our country!

The Second International Summit of Cities and Regions, which took place today with the participation of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal, and the President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola.
I am grateful to the international partners who have helped and are helping Ukrainian cities and regions.
I am also grateful to the local governments who, despite russia's constant attacks on the civilian infrastructure of communities.
The tremendous support that our country is experiencing is the result not only of the interaction between heads of state, government officials and parliamentarians, but also of numerous twinning partnerships between specific communities, cities, regions of Ukraine and countries around the civilized world.
The Ukrainian Parliament is aware of the importance of advancing the decentralization reform, despite the russian aggression.

"The European Union is a political project that is being strengthened in crises, a project of hope, freedom, and democracy. It is these values that Ukraine is defending on the battlefield."

"We have adopted thirteen packages of tough sanctions against putin and his allies, and we are working on a fourteenth package, which means that hundreds of billions of euros of russian assets are now frozen in the European Union."
"We said we would help you rebuild your cities, towns, and villages. The adoption of the €50 billion Ukraine Fund is our latest tangible manifestation of this support."
"During this critical phase of the war, international support for Ukraine must continue and must increase."

Europe Day. About unity and common values 🇪🇺
Ukraine is on its way to European integration. Recently, we have achieved really important results and are ready to do even more and accelerate the pace of accession.
In particular, our brave soldiers are fighting for freedom, independence, and European values on the battlefield.
Ukraine is Europe! Not just a slogan, but a fact that has been proven over the years.
We are grateful to our partners for their support and assistance. Stronger together 🇺🇦🇪🇺
The First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleksandr Korniyenko
Today Ukraine celebrates Europe Day.
Every day our country demonstrates its commitment to the ideals and values of democracy.
To the ideals and values for which the courageous, brave and unbreakable Ukrainian people are fighting!
To the right to be free!
For its independence and sovereignty.
And on this important day, I am pleased to welcome the President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola to Kyiv.
The European Parliament is undoubtedly at the forefront of supporting Ukraine. The European Parliament was the first institution in the EU to advocate for Ukraine's candidacy for EU accession.
The European Parliament has always had a strong voice when it comes to building an international coalition to support our fight for freedom and European values, when it comes to supplying weapons to Ukraine and strengthening sanctions pressure against russia.
And Ukraine will always appreciate it.

❗️ Renewal of journalists' access to the Parliament will simplify access to information, — the Deputy Head of the Committee on Humanitarian Policy Yevheniia Kravchuk.
The Verkhovna Rada has renewed the access of journalists to the Parliament under martial law. Such an approach will make access to information more efficient, but it is necessary to take into account security rules.
I am grateful to all those who made it possible to restore journalists' access to the sidelines and the Press center of the Parliament. I have already talked to them and urge my colleagues to tell us about the decisions of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, about the draft laws, about what is being registered. This is the main task of MPs when communicating with parliamentary journalists,
This access will be more prompt, but at the same time, we must take into account the security rules,
🇪🇺 Europe Day.
Today, we once again emphasize Ukraine's aspiration for a European future — a course for full accession in the European Union, enshrined in the Constitution.
This is a day that symbolizes our readiness to implement changes and necessary reforms and take an honorable place in the European community.
Ukraine's European integration is a goal that unites us all and allows us to move forward towards European standards, values, and opportunities. We know that this is not an easy path, but it is worth every effort.
The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, for its part, will continue to do everything in its power to achieve the European goal of our country.
Ukraine has a strong potential for development and improvement, and we are proud to walk this path together.
Our country, united in determination and purpose, is ready to be in the European Union.
