To be honest, since there was exactly one implementation of the "protocol" for long time, it's easy to say that the protocol was vulnerable. From my point of view if a protocol "can be fixed" by extra checks, that's rather an implementation issue. However I was never good in these politics.

The title of the article is incorrect: It's not a protocol vulnerability, it was a bug in the clients implementing the protocol. This was fixed in Wasabi v2.3.0.0
