This is a restriction set by the coordinator, so it won't make a difference which implementation you are using to send the payment in the coinjoin.

I was able to downgrade the package to previous version on ubuntu by just following the normal install command: sudo apt install ./Wasabi...

Please check permissions and/or search online with your Operating System details how to fix.

Also, please make sure you have a copy of your datadir/wallet files. Just in case...

I just tested downgrading to 2.1.0.0 and that works, I mean backwards compatibility wise.
So yes probably best to use 2.1.0.0...
