Tehran possesses weapons that are “superior” to nuclear bombs, Iranian Brigadier General Ebrahim Rostami has claimed. His statement came in response to calls from Iranian lawmakers to review the country’s non-nuclear military doctrine amid threats by Israel to strike the country.
In an interview with Iranian media on Tuesday, Rostami, who previously served as the secretary of the Development and Equipment Commission of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), supported calls to change the doctrine but said parliamentarians were unaware of “some aspects” because they involve “highly classified and top-secret information.”
The general claimed that Iran has “weapons that are far superior to nuclear weapons,” hinting that this military equipment had already been deployed in the past, recalling an attack on oil tankers in the United Arab Emirates in 2019.

Former White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer’s lawyer is calling on Mediaite to retract a story and issue an apology regarding a piece about Puck News Senior Political Correspondent Tara Palmeri. Spicer’s lawyer is calling it “highly defamatory,” the Daily Caller has first learned.
The Caller obtained a copy of the letter Spicer’s lawyer sent Tuesday to Aidan McLaughlin, the Editor in Chief of Mediaite. In the letter, he mentions the piece, titled “Scoop Machine Tara Palmeri on How She Gets The Story (And Stays Sane),” which states that Spicer refused to give her a press badge when he served in the White House. Palmeri previously worked at Politico during Spicer’s time as White House Press Secretary.
“Mediaite certainly knew that had Mr. Spicer or anyone in the Trump administration denied press credentials to a Politico reporter covering the White House like Ms. Palmeri it would have been a major, widely reported story with public comments and reporting from Politico, the White House Correspondents Association, and other major news organizations; this would not be a secret disclosed for the first time years later by Ms. Palmeri in a promotional interview. Thus, under the circumstances, the claim was [factually] implausible. In addition, it is a matter of public record that Ms. Palmeri had press credentials during her time covering the White House,” Spicer’s lawyer wrote in the letter.

Nebraska’s Supreme Court on Wednesday struck down an order by the state’s top election official that barred convicted felons from voting, a ruling that could add thousands of eligible voters statewide as both parties vie for its split electoral votes.

Special counsel Jack Smith on Wednesday contested an effort by former President Trump to toss his Jan. 6 prosecution citing the Supreme Court’s ruling in favor of a Jan. 6 rioter facing one of the same charges.
Smith’s team argues that the charges for obstructing an official proceedings should stand, arguing that the statute includes his bid to include false slates of electors to Congress.
“The Fischer decision clarified the scope of an obstruction offense under Section 1512(c)(2), but it did not strike down the statute or rewrite it,” prosecutors write, adding that it should be up to a jury to determine if the charges are appropriate.
“Any further assessment of the Government’s proof and whether it satisfies Fischer’s strictures should be reserved for trial under appropriate jury instructions.”
The justices’ 6-3 ruling, not along ideological lines, determined that the Justice Department overreached when it charged scores of Jan. 6 rioters with obstruction of an official proceeding.

One of the nation's best-known nonprofit medical centers appears to have misled the public on the risk of long-term heart damage from COVID infection through selective presentation of data from its recent review of early-pandemic records from the half-million-patient UK Biobank.
The Cleveland Clinic used the fear-inducing headline "History of COVID-19 Doubles Long-term Risk of Heart Attack, Stroke and Death" to tout its researchers' peer-reviewed study in the American Heart Association journal Arteriosclerosis, Thrombosis, and Vascular Biology.
So did the National Institutes of Health, which funded the research. It repeatedly emphasized the study population was "unvaccinated people" because the researchers limited them to patients who tested positive for COVID or were otherwise coded as infected from February through December 2020 – implying that jabs might have reduced their heart risk.
The University of Southern California's medical school, whose researchers also participated, gave a less alarmist take that emphasized the heart problems from "severe" infections and hospitalizations while still claiming "[a]ll patients" had a higher risk of "major adverse cardiac events" throughout the three-year review period.
What everyone left out: The Major Adverse Cardiac Events, or MACE, risk among those who weren't hospitalized did not differ meaningfully from non-infected controls, calling into question the phrasing "all levels of severity" and especially Cleveland Clinic Center for Cardiovascular Diagnostics and Prevention Director Stanley Hazen's representations.

There were some tense moments on Saturday when volunteers witnessed an armed group of people confronting and threatening FEMA workers in the Elk Mills community of Carter County in Tennessee.
Tracy Elder is president and founder of the International Alliance of Community Chaplains. Her group has been working in disaster relief for more than 20 years.
“They were armed — they were all open-carry — they had surrounded [the FEMA workers] and there was a lady that was yelling at them and threatening them,” Elder said.

BUSTED: A group of 'fake' Donald Trump supporters with neo-Nazis insignia were clobbered by a brutal wave from angry Republicans during a MAGA boat parade.
The Trump event kicked off in Jupiter, Florida, on Sunday where Republicans have shown their support for the presidential nominee at the same harbor since 2020.
Videos quickly circulated online of a boat filled with men dressed in Swastika t-shirts, but Trump supporters were quick to distance themselves from the group, claiming they were 'infiltrators' and 'dirty dems doing their usual plants'.

Busby traveled to Beijing, Shanghai, and Xi'an for a 10-day trip as part of a delegation of New York government officials and business leaders, including then-Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s chief diversity officer Rose Rodriguez, who were dubbed the "New Majority Alliance."
The delegation's trip in September 2017 was supported by the Consulate General of the People's Republic of China in New York, a Chinese government entity in New York that serves as a mouthpiece for the CCP and was recently implicated in an unsealed indictment against a top former aide to New York's Democratic Gov. Kathy Hochul. The New York in China Center, which has offices in New York and Shanghai, was the official sponsor of the trip.
