NEW: Authorities investigating Liam Payne's death have ruled out suicide in the late One Direction singer's fatal fall last month.
On Wednesday, Argentina's National Criminal and Correctional Prosecutor’s Office confirmed in a press release that "all the injuries that Payne had were compatible with those caused by a fall from a height and that self-harm of any kind and/or physical intervention by third parties were ruled out," the release states.
Additionally, according to the release, Payne "did not adopt a reflex posture to protect herself from the fall" and "may have fallen in a state of semi or total unconsciousness."

Israel Defense Forces troops have been conducting “limited, localized, targeted raids” in recent weeks in southern Lebanon designed to eliminate terrorists, locate weapons and dismantle Hezbollah’s infrastructure, IDF officials said on their Telegram messaging page.
The IDF troops located what appeared to be a Hezbollah terrorist training center 200 meters from a post occupied by soldiers from the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon.
“The compound was used by terrorists for training, studying and storing large quantities of weapons. The facility contained launchers prepared for firing at Israeli communities,” IDF officials said.
The Israeli soldiers also found Hezbollah documents and training manuals that detail the terror group’s operational methods. They also discovered maps of Israel, information about Israel’s military equipment and a tunnel system.

Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.) officially rolled out his bid to run the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) on Friday, a move that would put him at the helm of the party’s midterm efforts to maintain and possibly grow its majority next cycle.
Scott had been mulling a run for the post since mid-October. He is currently the only person in the race for the post.
“Let’s do this! I’m running for NRSC Chair because two years of a Republican agenda is good, but four years of success under Donald J. Trump is even better,” the former 2024 presidential hopeful said in a statement.

They found that among those regions, residents were more likely to unlawfully cross the border when their community was undergoing extreme drought and less likely to cross the border back to Mexico if their community was experiencing similarly extreme conditions.

AstraZeneca’s China President Leon Wang has been detained by Chinese authorities, according to several media reports.
It is unclear why Wang was arrested but the news comes just days after it was reported that the pharma’s country head was under investigation for alleged medical insurance fraud. In a previous statement to BioSpace, however, an AstraZeneca spokesperson insisted that “none of our current or former senior executives are being investigated for Medical Insurance Fraud.”
BioSpace has reached out to AstraZeneca for comment on Wang’s detainment and will update this article as more information is available.
“If requested, AstraZeneca will fully cooperate with the investigation,” the company said.

BREAKING🚨: Three people have been charged in an alleged Iran-linked plot to assassinate President-elect Donald Trump and several Iranian dissidents, law enforcement sources told ABC News.
Farhad Shakeri, Carlisle Rivera and Jonathan Loadholt are charged with murder-for-hire, the sources said. Rivera and Loadholt have been arrested, while Shakeri is still at large.

A pair of House Republicans asked special counsel Jack Smith on Friday for records related to his prosecutions of President-elect Donald Trump in a sign that they plan to investigate Smith if the GOP maintains its House majority.
Reps. Jim Jordan (R-OH) and Barry Loudermilk (R-GA) asked Smith in a letter to provide them with all communications between the Department of Justice and the White House regarding the Trump cases and information about the FBI’s involvement in them.
They also told Smith to make certain nothing they requested was deleted, saying they were “concerned” that Smith’s office “may attempt to purge relevant records, communications, and documents.”

The new details of the call underscore how influential Musk could be in the second Trump administration, and the uncertainty over how exactly Trump will approach Ukraine.
