Hamas released a video on Saturday with proof of life from U.S. citizen Idan Alexander, who is being held hostage in Gaza — and in the footage, he calls on President-elect Trump to negotiate for his release.
This is the first time a video of Alexander has emerged since he was taken hostage on October 7.
Alexander says in the video he has been held captive for more than 420 days, which raises the possibility the video was taken in the last 24 hours.
Alexander calls on Trump in the video to use his influence and the "full power of the U.S."
Alexander also says he doesn't want to end up like the American hostage Hersh Goldberg-Polin who was murdered by his Hamas captives.

U.S. Reps. James McGovern, D-Mass., and Thomas Massie, R-Ky., wrote a letter to President Biden calling on him to pardon WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange to "send a clear message" that his administration will not target journalistic activity.
"We write, first, to express our appreciation for your administration's decision last spring to facilitate a resolution of the criminal case against publisher Julian Assange and to withdraw the related extradition request that had been pending in the United Kingdom," the lawmakers wrote to Biden. "This brought an end to Mr. Assange's protracted detention and allowed him to reunite with his family and return to his home country of Australia."
The lawmakers told Biden, who is set to leave office in January, that they are "deeply concerned that the agreement that ended the case required Mr. Assange to plead guilty to felony charges under section 793 of the Espionage Act," highlighting that the decision to prosecute Assange under the Espionage Act "set off alarms" among members of Congress, as well as advocates for freedom of expression and freedom of the press.

Prosecutors had accused Combs of trying to influence witnesses and intimidate victims from behind bars and said he would pose a flight risk if released. They also told the court that his reliance on his vast wealth in his bail application could amount to a "two-tiered" justice system if his proposal were allowed. It involved the mogul paying for a private security firm to monitor him and control some of his communications while on house arrest.

A federal judge on Wednesday threw out a defamation lawsuit against Fox News by a former Donald Trump supporter who said he received death threats when the network aired false conspiracy theories about his involvement in the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol insurrection.
Raymond Epps, a former Marine, was falsely accused by Fox of being a government agent causing trouble near the Capitol that day so that it would be blamed on Trump fans.
U.S. District Judge Jennifer L. Hall in Delaware granted, without comment, Fox's motion to dismiss the case.
Epps was the subject of a “60 Minutes” interview in 2023, shortly before filing his lawsuit. He claimed that he and his wife sold an Arizona ranch where they lived and moved because of the harassment they faced because of the reports.
Epps had named Tucker Carlson, who was fired from Fox in April 2023 for reasons never fully explained, as being the most active promoter of the conspiracy theory. At the time, Carlson hosted Fox's most popular show.

Former Sen. Bob Menendez (D-N.J.) has asked a federal judge to throw out his corruption conviction and grant a new trial after it was revealed that jurors were accidentally shown improper evidence while deliberating.
Menendez’s attorney Adam Fee wrote in court filings that the “serious breach” makes a new trial “unavoidable.”

Russia is continuing work to put its 'unstoppable' Satan II intercontinental ballistic missile - part of its terrifying strategic nuclear arsenal - on combat duty, Moscow's state media has revealed.
The Satan II missile, also referred to as the RS-28 Sarmat, is designed to deliver nuclear warheads to strike targets thousands of miles away in the United States or Europe, but its development has been dogged by delays and testing setbacks.
In September, Putin faced humiliation after his Satan II missile exploded, obliterating Russia's only test site for hypersonic weapons.
As a result, experts said that the test programme for the rocket could be delayed for years, or could even be aborted after a series of failed launches.
