Lawyers for President-elect Donald Trump have officially requested to "immediately" dismiss charges against him in New York v. Trump, declaring the "failed lawfare" case "should never have been brought."
"President Donald J. Trump respectfully submits this motion to dismiss the Indictment and vacate the jury’s verdicts...," they wrote in their official motion to dismiss submitted to the court on Monday. "The Presidential immunity doctrine, the Presidential Transition Act, and the Supremacy Clause all require that result, and they require it immediately."

House education chair demands Biden admin nix ‘blatantly illegal’ latest student loan scheme
House Education Committee Chairwoman Virginia Foxx is ripping the outgoing Biden administration’s latest proposed student loan forgiveness scheme as “blatantly illegal” and demanding the federal Department of Education nix it.
Just before last month’s election, the Department of Education announced it was launching yet another attempt to get through President Biden’s hotly controversial plan despite numerous court slap-downs in the past.
The latest machination would again offer to broadly wipe out student loans based on hardship, including those thought to have an “80% chance of being in default within the next two years.”
“This fourth scheme is just as legally dubious as the prior Biden-Harris administration attempts to
‘cancel’ student loan borrowers’ debts, but have the American taxpayer pick up the tab,” Foxx wrote to DOE Secretary Miguel Cardona in a Monday letter exclusively obtained by The Post.

Miami-Dade County names local road ‘President Donald J. Trump Avenue’
On Tuesday, Miami-Dade Commissioners voted to rename Palm Avenue in Hialeah as “President Donald J. Trump Avenue.”
Commissioner Kevin Marino Cabrera, who sponsored the resolution, shared the news online. Juan Carlos Bermudez was the co-sponsor of the resolution.
The resolution highlighted several of Trump’s key accomplishments, including the signing of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act – described as “one of the largest tax cuts and tax reform bills in American history” – brokering the Abraham Accords, reducing unemployment, launching the Space Force and more
“Miami-Dade County strongly supported President Trump during the election, and this designation serves as a lasting tribute to his leadership and vision for our nation,” Cabrera wrote.

As President-elect Donald Trump fills out his Cabinet and chooses his closet advisers ahead of Inauguration Day, many African American leaders are asking why more Black people haven't been appointed to key positions.
Last month, the president-elect appointed Scott Turner, who was executive director of the White House Opportunity and Revitalization Council during Trump's first term, to serve as secretary of the Department of Housing and Urban Development.
One area of frustration for many Black Republicans was speculation that if Trump did nominate an African American to his administration, it would be at HUD, the department that has had the most Black secretary appointments of any.
One Black Southern Republican told ABC News, "Why is every Black person given HUD?" adding that it was "the literal Black job of the administration."
ABC News reached out to Trump’s transition team for comment on his selections but did not get a reply.

TRON founder Justin Sun, who ate his $6 million conceptual-art banana after buying it at auction, said his company was committed to “making America great again” after buying into World Liberty Financial for $30 million.
The purchase stands to directly benefit the president-elect.
Prior to Sun’s involvement, World Liberty Financial had only sold roughly $24 million in tokens, falling short of a $30 million threshold that would allow a Trump-owned company to begin collecting “75 percent of net protocol revenues,” according to filings reviewed by Popular Information.
With Sun’s new stake in World Liberty Financial, Trump can reap massive profits — to the tune of $18 million.

🥴Controversial billionaire Mark Cuban has floated the idea of running for president with Charles Barkley after insisting the NBA legend is 'somebody America needs'.
Cuban, who was a surrogate for Kamala Harris before the Democratic nominee lost this month's election, has been tipped to make a run for the White House in previous election cycles but is yet to throw his name into the hat.
During an appearance on The Steam Room podcast with Barkley and host Ernie Johnson, the minority Dallas Mavericks owner was asked about the tribalism in American politics and how the country can begin to have more amicable debates moving forward.
Cuban responded: 'It takes somebody in my mind that will go out there and just talk to anybody, like Charles!
'Charles can talk to anybody and put himself in any circumstance and get along with everybody, and I think that's what we need.'

👀FBI investigates mysterious drones filling night sky in New Jersey that have 'unnerved' residents
Large drones have been hovering in formation over northern New Jersey, officials said Monday, leading to "unnerved" residents wondering what's behind these bright, unidentified flying objects appearing almost every night in the sky.
The FBI and Morris County Sheriff's Department are actively investigating the aerial phenomenon, which has been an annoyance but not yet any kind of safety threat, authorities said.
"There is no advisable immediate danger to the public at this time," Morris County Sheriff James Gannon said in a statement, "and the Sheriff’s Office, along with many law enforcement agencies are working in partnership on this matter."
The drones began appearing in mid-November and have returned nightly, NBC New York reported.
“We’ve been seeing them every night, except Thanksgiving. I guess they took the night off,” area resident Mike Walsh told the outlet on Monday.

According to a new search warrant, obtained by TMZ, cops in Minnesota say they have a thumb drive they were told has a recording of O.J. admitting to the double murder of Nicole and Ron.
What's more, police say they've been told the recording also features O.J. implicating an unknown third party.
In the warrant, cops say they seized a backpack containing multiple thumb drives from a man named Iroc Avelli as part of an investigation in a separate case. Avelli is Simpson's former bodyguard.
The docs say Avelli was arrested in March 2022 and police executed a search warrant to collect evidence, including a green backpack with live ammunition and other items.
Bloomington PD in Minnesota says in June 2024 -- 2 months after O.J. died -- they got a call from an LAPD detective who advised that Avelli and his attorney met with LAPD and told cops inside the green backpack was a thumb drive with the recording of O.J.'s confession.

The goal posts moved as more facts came to light. Before the election, Joe Biden promised he would respect the legal process and issue no pardon or commutation to his son. This week he went much further than pre-emptively commuting any sentence to keep his son from prison. He issued a broad pardon for any and all crimes over a nearly 11-year period.
He gave his son the sweeping immunity to which career prosecutors refused to agree as part of an aborted plea deal. When that deal collapsed in July 2023, Attorney General Merrick Garland appointed a special counsel. Despite his testimony to Congress in March 2023 that Delaware U.S. Attorney David Weiss had full authority over the matter, Mr. Garland granted special charging authority to Mr. Weiss.

A former longtime friend and business partner of Hunter Biden reveals the blueprint he would like the Trump Department of Justice to implement after President Biden announced on Sunday that he was giving his son a full pardon.
Devon Archer, who served on Ukrainian energy company Burisma's board alongside Hunter, says he is looking ahead to the future and is optimistic about the Trump DOJ. When Fox News Digital asked Archer about the elder Biden's pardon, he avoided talking about the Bidens and instead called for the Trump DOJ to be "an impartial institution again."

The Justice Department alleges that an illegal immigrant from China shipped weapons to North Korea from California.
According to a new federal complaint filed in the Central District of California, Shenghua Wen, as well as other unnamed co-conspirators, "successfully exported at least two shipments of firearms and ammunition to North Korea by concealing the items inside shipping containers that were shipped from Long Beach, California, through Hong Kong, China, to North Korea."
Federal agents on Aug. 14 seized from Wen's home in Ontario, California, "two devices that Wen admitted he procured to send to the North Korean government for its military use," court documents say.
Those items were a "Serstech Arx mkII Pharma device — a chemical threat identification device," and "an ANDRE Deluxe Near-Field Detection device," which the complaint explains is "a handheld broadband receiver that detects known, unknown, illegal, disruptive, or interfering transmissions" and, according to the manufacturer, is "portable, non-alerting, and ideal for locating hidden eavesdropping devices."
