The red bird of paradise Paradisaea rubra is endemic to the moist forests of Western New Guinea (Indonesia).

The length of its body is about 30 cm, and the tail is 12 cm - not counting the decorative corkscrew-like red tail feathers, with which the total length of the red bird of paradise reaches 72 cm. It takes at least six years for these feathers to fully develop.

It differs from other birds of paradise by a golden-green raised feathery crest on the back of its head. The back is dull gray-yellowish, and the throat is dark green. The chest and wings are red-brown, the legs are red. The male, as expected, is brighter than the female.

The diet of these birds consists mainly of fruits, berries and arthropods. The red Bird of Paradise is depicted on the obverse of the banknote of Indonesia 20,000 rupees issued in 1992

Eurasian flying squirrels are common in the temperate forests, to the east of the Urals they penetrate into the forest-steppe, on the islands of the Japanese archipelago and partly on the Korean Peninsula - in the subtropical zone.

The range of the Japanese flying squirrel is the evergreen mountain forests of the islands of Kyushu and Honshu. Body size 15-20 cm, tail 10-14 cm, weight about 200 g.

The flying squirrel is active all year round. The lifestyle is nocturnal and twilight, nursing females and young appear during the day. Most of the time the flying squirrel spends in search of food.
