An interesting moment from the same episode of Joe Rogan’s podcast comes in this clip, where Dave Smith(who's a big critic of Israel) says the Palestinian resistance made a mistake by basing their strategy on the one used in Algeria. In other words, their goal was to make the Jews leave—just like the Algerians managed to drive out the French. But the key difference, as Smith points out, is that unlike the French, who could just go back to their home country, the Jews didn’t have that option.

I have to say, I find it pretty amusing to see the contrast between Israeli and Iranian secret services.

While Israel manages to eliminate top Iranian officials, key Iranian nuclear scientists, and the chiefs of their proxy militant groups — even in the heart of Tehran — Iranian intelligence struggles to target minor Jewish rabbis and random community centers…

In the fall, an officer from Iran’s Quds Force met with Agil Aslanov, a drug trafficker from Georgia, according to Western and Middle Eastern security officials. The officer handed Aslanov a photo of a prominent Jewish figure in Azerbaijan and detailed instructions on how to kill him.

German prosecutors have accused Iran of using criminal proxies to attack synagogues and a school in 2023. In March 2024, police in Peru arrested an Iranian man alleged to be a Quds Force member and two local accomplices over a plot to attack an Israeli national living in the South American country.

One of the more absurd attempts by the IDF to cover up a war crime can be seen in the case of the killing of 15 people in Red Crescent vehicles on 23.03.2025.

And for anyone tempted to argue otherwise — yes, it is by definition a war crime:

Deliberate attacks against humanitarian and medical personnel that wear the emblems recognised under the Geneva convention – including that of the Red Crescent – constitutes a war crime, unless they commit "acts harmful to the enemy."

Originally, they claimed the emergency vehicles were behaving “suspiciously,” driving “without headlights or emergency signals.” Actual footage proved that false.

The IDF claimed that 9 — later revised to “at least 6” — of those killed were Hamas and PIJ militants. But even if that’s true, unless the IDF had highly specific intelligence about the presence of high-ranking or strategically important figures in those vehicles, the justification is flimsy at best.

And the sloppy cover-up attempt only reinforces that there likely weren’t any high-value targets — because if there were, the IDF would be broadcasting that fact everywhere.

To be fair, earlier claims that the IDF executed the paramedics while they were being handcuffed — a narrative mostly pushed by the Arab press — now seem likely to be false.

The IDF says it has video evidence contradicting that version of events, and even the BBC investigation indicates that the closest shots were fired from a distance of 12 meters. While that still qualifies as close range — close enough that IDF forces should have clearly seen these were Red Crescent vehicles — it’s not close enough to suggest they had time to handcuff the paramedics and then execute them.

He is clearly headed toward negotiations with Iran, whether Israel approves or not. At the joint press conference on Monday, Netanyahu stood beside Trump with the forced smile of a bride on "Married at First Sight," discovering for the first time that her groom is the Elephant Man.

Nearly three months into Trump's return to power, his worldview is coming into focus: economy, economy, economy. It's all about the money. Even if some Republicans remain hawkish on Iran, the administration knows a war in the Gulf could send oil prices soaring – a political disaster.

So I've watched the interview.
Tbf, the title and preview of the video were misleading. Peterson wasn't crying bc of the tariffs, though he did criticize Trump for it. He cried for the usual stuff that he cries about since his breakdown in 2020.

Try not to make Jordan Peterson cry about the isolation of young men in modern society.

I personally don’t see much logic in continuing the war at this point. Beyond the fact that it unnecessarily endangers Israeli hostages—prolonging and worsening their suffering in captivity—it also inflicts further harm on innocent civilians in Gaza. As with the period leading up to the previous ceasefire, the government doesn’t appear to have a clear endgame plan.

One could argue for continued military operations if they were demonstrably leading to the elimination of threats or accelerating the release of hostages, but that doesn’t seem to be happening. According to media reports, the IDF has struggled to eliminate high-ranking military Hamas figures as effectively as it did earlier in the conflict—mainly because those who remain are now deeply entrenched underground.

It seems likely that, under American pressure, the Israeli government will once again agree to a ceasefire with terms virtually identical to those proposed earlier—only after more lives are lost and more suffering is inflicted on both the hostages and civilians in Gaza.

Here's a clear example of a misleading, clickbait headline designed to attract clicks and shares by provoking outrage, particularly from pro-Palestinian readers.

At first glance, reading only the headline and initial paragraphs could leave readers with the false impression that the hospital specifically banned Palestinian flags. However, upon reading further, it becomes evident that the ban applies universally to all national flags and political symbols, not singling out any particular group.

A spokesman for Barts Health NHS Trust said: “We are reissuing our uniform policy to make clear that staff are not expected to wear or display political symbols, including badges and slogans or flags on clothing. Our dress code upholds our political neutrality in order to contribute to an inclusive culture at work.”

Interestingly, this headline comes not from a left-leaning outlet but from The Telegraph, a UK-based newspaper generally perceived as conservative and pro-Israeli.

When you come to the United States as a visitor, which is what a visa is – which is how this individual entered this country, on a visitor’s visa – as a visitor, we can deny you that visa.

When you tell us when you apply, ‘Hi, I’m trying to get into the United States on a student visa. I am a big supporter of Hamas, a murderous, barbaric group that kidnaps children, that rapes teenage girls, that takes hostages, that allows them to die in captivity, that returns more bodies than live hostages,’ if you tell us that you are in favor of a group like this and if you tell us when you apply for your visa, ‘and by the way, I intend to come to your country as a student and rile up all kinds of anti-Jewish student, antisemitic activities, I intend to shut down your universities,’ if you told us all these things when you applied for your visa, we would deny your visa. I’d hope we would.

By the way, the woman in the preview picture is Masih Alinejad, not the rabbi. 😂

Here's the context, from the same article:

Last month, a federal jury in New York convicted Rafat Amirov and Polad Omarov of plotting to kill Iranian American journalist and activist Masih Alinejad. The two men, linked to a Russian organized crime group, were found guilty of murder-for-hire and related charges. Prosecutors said Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) had offered them $500,000 to kill Alinejad at her Brooklyn residence.

Alinejad is known for her outspoken criticism of Iran’s mandatory hijab laws and human rights abuses. She founded the My Stealthy Freedom campaign, encouraging Iranian women to share photos of themselves without hijabs, or head coverings.

They even allegedly tried to assassinate an Azerbaijani lawmaker:

Officials said it may not be the first time Iran has attempted to kill someone in Azerbaijan. In 2023, Azerbaijani lawmaker Fazil Mustafa survived an assassination attempt in which he was shot with a Kalashnikov rifle. The State Security Service later declared the incident a terrorist attack, while investigators pointed fingers at Iran, citing Mustafa’s criticism of Tehran for allegedly fomenting religious division in Azerbaijan.

Mustafa said in an interview with a local outlet, Gununsesi.info, that the suspects “carried out their orders and received money for it” and that “their masters are high-ranking clerics in the Iranian state.”

And beyond all that, on a human level, the story is just awful — truly horrible and heartbreaking:

When paramedic Hassan Hosni Al-Hila felt too sick to continue his late-night assignment with the Palestine Red Crescent Society on March 23, his son gladly agreed to cover his shift.

That shift would prove to be 21-year-old Mohammad’s last.

Within a few hours, while the young paramedic was dispatched with a convoy of emergency vehicles to find a missing ambulance crew in Rafah, southern Gaza, Mohammad called his father pleading for help amidst intense Israeli military gunfire.

“Come to me, Dad, help me… we were targeted by the Israelis, and they are now shooting at us directly,” Al-Hila recalled his son telling him over the phone. “The call ended after that.”

His fate would remain unknown for over a week, until rescue teams granted permission by the Israeli military to access the area uncovered a horrific scene: a mass grave containing the bodies of 15 first responders buried along with their crushed emergency vehicles.

I feel bad for that father, who now has to live the rest of his life knowing that his decision not to go to work that day led to his son's death — and on top of that, he spent a week not knowing what had happened to him.

And then there’s the treatment of the bodies — buried for so long in mass graves. It doesn’t matter if the IDF claims it followed international protocol in such cases; it’s still absolutely horrific.

The fact that many Israelis have gone through that same nightmare — not knowing for days or weeks or months what happened to their loved ones — doesn’t make it any more acceptable to do it to others.

Chaim Levinson of Haaretz captures a classic Bibi maneuver:

When Netanyahu needs something, there are few tools he wields more effectively than a dramatic security disclosure.

In this case, he discreetly informed his interlocutor that Israel was about to launch a strike on Iran – a secret shared in the strictest confidence. I wouldn't have published this were it not for Netanyahu's confidant, Jacob Bardugo, who told the story himself.

Coincidentally – or perhaps not – the attack was set to happen just after Israel's state budget was due to be approved. The coalition partner, unaware that he was being played, left the meeting visibly shaken, declared the moment one of historic gravity, and threw his full weight behind passing the budget. As expected, it passed.

Later, Netanyahu said the strike had been delayed. Then Donald Trump entered the picture. Another supposed Israeli strike, again "planned," was – regrettably – postponed, this time live on television.

Speaking of the Bibas family, one of the most deranged woke takes I’ve seen on 📱 is this one.

Apparently, according to these geniuses, posting expressions of grief for the Bibas children is now considered “white nationalism” and “racial supremacist propaganda”.

One of the people pushing this absurd narrative, by the way, is Emma Vigeland — a co-host of The Majority Report and easily one of the most unhinged and tactless ultra-progressive leftists I’ve ever come across.

Bear in mind that these mindbogglingly woke takes were being posted right as the bodies of Shiri and her children were being brought to burial.

An interesting report from the Israeli media:
In a video that recently emerged from the Gaza Strip—a group of demonstrators is seen voicing strong criticism of Hamas. Among those captured in the footage is Hisham Birawi, a familiar face to residents of Kibbutz Nirim.

He had worked for many years in Nirim’s avocado orchards. Even after leaving the kibbutz, he maintained regular phone contact with several of its members over an extended period.

Hisham Birawi’s participation in recent anti-Hamas protests is not only political—it is deeply personal. On October 7, his brother was murdered by Hamas militants.

Hisham’s brother was one of several Gazan laborers working at Kibbutz Nir Am, near the Gaza border, when Hamas terrorists infiltrated Israeli territory. The militants reportedly recognized one of the workers and allowed him to leave. The others, including Hisham’s brother, were executed at point-blank range. The attackers made sure none survived.

That same day, Hisham tried to contact the labor coordinator at Kibbutz Nir Yitzhak, seeking information. Only later did he learn the devastating truth: his brother had been killed.

Hisham now appears openly—his face uncovered—among those protesting against Hamas in Gaza.

One can only hope he remains safe.

During his detention, he was starved and tortured with electric shocks, his family said on Tuesday.

[...]

He was released from custody only when he was on the verge of physical collapse. At the request of the family, the man’s identity was not revealed. According to his family, he was arrested by Belarusian authorities in early February for allegedly “subscribing to extremist content.”

[...]

The man was a member of a Facebook group where Israelis and locals engaged in discussions. The family claims that the real reason for his arrest was his son’s participation in a protest against the Belarus regime, which was held in Israel. Following the protest, the son received personal threats to his life and the lives of his family members, including being told “you will be sent to Auschwitz.”

All of those eliminated were tied to Hamas’s internal governance in Gaza. Their deaths could weaken Hamas’s hold on the population, but in the absence of an alternative governing authority, would be most unlikely to cause the collapse of Hamas’s rule. The more likely result would be heightened chaos among civilians.

Notably, before the now-lapsed ceasefire took effect on January 19, the IDF had briefed Israeli media that “the war in Gaza is stagnating” and that there were few significant targets left to strike.
