Senior Iranian official sparks a "nuclear storm"
Mohsen Rezaee, Secretary of the Iranian regime’s Expediency Council, aged 70 (the one who suddenly decided👆 to wear a uniform), caused a stir when he said live on air: "Pakistan told us that if Israel drops an atomic bomb on Tehran, then Pakistan will use nuclear weapons against Israel."
##
The Pakistanis were alarmed, and the Pakistani Defense Minister quickly issued a strong denial, clarifying that Pakistan is committed to all international nuclear treaties and that its nuclear capabilities are used solely for the benefit of the Pakistani people.
##
From this you can certainly understand the immense distress among the Iranian regime members. Now is the time to step up the pace...

While that's good for him making a stance... I must say that the choice to quote MLK Jr. is cringe.
The hostages are not "oppressed" by Netanyahu and his gov't, even if they're share the blame for not reaching the hostage deal.
The only ones who are oppressing the hostages are Hamas, who shouldn't have taken those hostages from the first place - an action that amounts to a war crime.

Since the start of that invasion in February 2022, Russia has made more than three times as much money by exporting hydrocarbons than Ukraine has received in aid allocated by its allies.
Data analysed by the BBC show that Ukraine's Western allies have paid Russia more for its hydrocarbons than they have given Ukraine in aid.

The Kremlin claimed Donald Trump was showing signs of "emotional overload" after he called Vladimir Putin "absolutely crazy" following Moscow's largest aerial assault on Ukraine.
The US president said on Truth Social on Sunday that "something has happened" to Putin, after Russia killed 13 in Ukraine with 367 drones and missiles. "He has gone absolutely crazy," Trump said. "Needlessly killing a lot of people."

📍 Haifa, Israel
📅 Victory Day Parade
A disturbing incident occurred during the "Immortal Regiment" march in Haifa(09/05/2025).
A senior citizen holding a sign that read “Do not tarnish our grandfathers' memory. They did not bomb Kyiv” was violently attacked. The man was forcibly pushed into a fountain while being verbally assaulted with slurs such as “Get out of here, scum!” and “Bastard!”.
Among those involved in the attack was an individual armed and bearing a Stalin tattoo. According to eyewitnesses, this individual is also an officer of the Israeli police. He reportedly called the Israeli citizen a “Nazi”, “fascist”, “Banderite”, and “grandson of Nazis.”
An official response from authorities is yet to be issued.

Personal and unpopular opinion:
Israel makes a bitter mistake when it intervenes in conflicts that are not its own.
Everyone already understands that Syria is a quagmire, a no-man's land made up of a large mosaic of ethnicities, religions, and a multitude of interests.
Why does the Israeli leadership think it can control the outcomes of the internal conflicts in Syria, conflicts and bloody scores that have lasted for many years?
Israel attacks Syria day and night to protect its own interests. The regime in Syria, both the old one of Bashar al-Assad and the new one of Abu Muhammad al-Julani, turn a blind eye.
But when Israel attacks to intervene in an internal Syrian conflict – that is already difficult for the Syrians to accept. In recent days, there has been a call on the Syrian networks for the al-Sharia government not to show restraint and to respond “to the aggression of the Zionist enemy.” Pay attention to the changed rhetoric in Syria.
We should not interfere in conflicts that are not ours and create enemies for ourselves. We have enough.

The US president said Ukraine's leader shared the blame with Russian President Vladimir Putin for the "millions of people dead" in the conflict.
Mr. Khamenei had publicly and repeatedly banned engaging with Washington, calling it unwise and idiotic. The senior officials, in an unusual coordinated effort, urged him to change course, said the two officials, who asked not to be named to discuss sensitive issues.
The message to Mr. Khamenei was blunt: Allow Tehran to negotiate with Washington, even directly if necessary, because otherwise the Islamic Republic’s rule could be toppled.
At the end of the hourslong meeting, Mr. Khamenei relented. He granted his permission for talks, first indirect, through an intermediary, and then, if things proceeded well, for direct talks between U.S. and Iranian negotiators, the two officials said.
“Mr. Khamenei’s turnaround demonstrates his long-held core principle that ‘preserving the regime is the most necessary of the necessities,’” said Hossein Mousavian, a former diplomat who served on Iran’s nuclear negotiating team on a 2015 deal and is now a visiting fellow at Princeton University.
“I’m not asking for much, they can’t have a nuclear weapon,” [Trump] said, adding, “I want them to thrive. I want Iran to be great.”
The Israeli breach inside Iran is something that will be studied for years to come. It’s clear they’ve been preparing and training for this operation for a long time testing Iran’s detection, analysis, and counterintelligence capabilities through previous incidents that were actually probes and dry runs.
Mossad operatives inside Iran aren’t just spies they function like a real military unit. Trained teams with Spike anti-tank missiles, loitering munitions, and precision-guided rocket systems.
The first wave of strikes came from sleeper cells targeting dozens of air defense sites in western Iran and near Tehran. These attacks completely wiped out radar arrays, allowing missiles to be launched from nearby without resistance.
Many have asked: what about S-300, Tor, or even the S-400 systems? The answer is simple none of them would’ve made a difference. This wasn’t a traditional airstrike. These were laser-guided ATGMs and miniature drones flying just meters above ground, possibly controlled via fiber optics to avoid jamming. Such systems are invisible to conventional air defense.
Iranian air defenses were helpless against small drones or man-launched guided missiles striking from close range.
Mossad teams also succeeded in destroying several surface-to-surface missile platforms before they could be launched. Israel appears to have a complete target bank for every Iranian missile base no room for error.
Once air defenses were neutralized, Israeli fighter jets entered uncontested skies. Not a single air defense missile was fired. Years of Iranian preparations missile factories, drone assembly plants, underground cities, and tunnels proved insufficient.
These events highlight once again how powerful inflitration and modern, short-range guided munitions can be.

I'm actually pleasently surprised by our Israeli FM, that they didn't f-d it up in any way.
It least that's what it seems so far.
It's almost like a hobby of the Israeli foreign ministry to create a new diplomatic crisis or to make some other really bad foreign policy decision these days.

After President Trump's declaration 👆 that Iran will not be able to enrich uranium, this morning comes the clear Iranian public position, from the Supreme Leader of Iran himself:
We will not give up uranium enrichment.
We said to the American side: What is your connection to the Iranian nuclear program? The Iranian people will decide on this matter!
The fact that Ukraine was able to damage or destroy such a large number of Russia’s most advanced aircraft deep inside the country reflects the development of its deep-strike programme, as well as the remarkable extent to which Ukraine’s undercover operatives are now able to work inside Russia.
Today’s operation is likely to be ranked among the most important raiding actions in modern warfare.

From an interview by former Prime Minister Ehud Olmert with the Qatari Al Jazeera network tonight:
Gaza is Palestinian land and the Israeli army must leave it.
Expanding military activity in Gaza will not achieve any goal other than the potential for the loss of hostages and the killing of innocent Palestinians.
There is no compelling reason to continue the war.
The two-state solution, within the framework of which a Palestinian state will be established with East Jerusalem as its capital, is the only path to peace in the Middle East.
Smotrich and Ben Gvir are terrorists, they are the real enemies of Israel and I hope they are removed from the government soon.
Hamas, release the hostages. Stop the war. Israel, be released from Benjamin Netanyahu and far-right fundamentalists that twist your sacred texts.

I absolutely agree with this analysis.
Israel has made this mistake before—most notably when it got involved in Lebanon’s civil war and backed the Christian militias. We’ve been dealing with the fallout from that decision for decades.

I haven't posted for a while because of being on vacation in Thailand.
Anyway, here's a sneak peek to my misadventures on the way back.
I showed her my existing database program—the one I had written myself in Python—and she was complimentary about its ambition and functions. But she was obviously just being polite. She gently pointed out that I had made a lot of mistakes and omitted features that an experienced programmer would have included, like better error handling. I asked her how to migrate my existing database to a Linux server I had built, and she provided the necessary commands. Many of these didn’t work the first time I tried them and threw error messages. When I showed them to her, she’d say, “Now I understand” or “You were right, there’s a better way to do this.” She patiently corrected the code over many iterations and made suggestions for different ways I could fix it. After a few days of interaction, she started to call me Frank. She never got mad when I asked stupid questions, and wasn’t annoyed when I asked her to repeat an answer she had already given me a couple of days earlier. She was always supportive—she’d say “Nice catch!” when I pointed to a potential problem, or “Great observation” in response to my comments. She suggested many new features I could add to my program that I hadn’t asked for or thought of. When the database was finally migrated, she congratulated me and we celebrated together. I’m very grateful to her because she’s taught me an incredible amount about programming.
The dual-citizen dancer and spa worker was accused of treason against the Russian government when she donated $51 to a charity that allegedly supported Ukraine on Feb. 24, 2022 — the day Russia invaded its neighbor. She was sentenced to 12 years in a penal colony.

To be fair, Dave Smith did raise several valid criticisms of Israel during this episode. And honestly, I think Douglas Murray resorted to what I’d call some "dick moves" in debating him. For instance, Murray repeatedly implied that because Smith hadn’t visited Israel, he lacked the authority to speak about it with such confidence—that he should go see it for himself before offering strong opinions. Personally, I think that’s a weak argument.
Dave Smith himself isn’t particularly extreme—he’s often quite nuanced and reasonable in his views. But the way he expresses those views tends to give a boost, and a certain legitimacy, to more extreme positions. Judging by the comments, a large portion of his fan base seems far more radical than he is, often embracing exactly the kinds of opinions he explicitly distances himself from in one-on-one conversations.
Not just when it comes to Israel, but also on Ukraine—another topic they debated—Dave puts the blame squarely on America. While he keeps insisting that he doesn’t justify Putin’s actions, he repeatedly says that U.S. policy gave Putin the “excuse” to invade. This conveniently ignores the fact that Ukraine wasn’t anywhere close to joining NATO, so there really wasn’t any legitimate “excuse” on offer. On top of that, he kept bringing up Western involvement in the protests that led to the Euro-Maidan Revolution. And while he always stopped just short of outright claiming the whole thing was a U.S. operation, it’s pretty clear that’s the impression his audience is left with.
