BYD and DJI have turned electric cars into aircraft carriers.
From March 2025, their cars will have built-in drones for aerial reconnaissance. The first swallow was a luxury SUV Yangwang U8 for $150 thousand - its roof hides a drone DJI Mavic 3, capable of flying at 55 km/h.
Now the technology is being introduced into mass-market models. The drone automatically takes off from the roof, skimming the road or looking for detours in traffic jams. In emergency cases - for example, after natural disasters - drones will be able to scout the area for rescuers.

The coast of the Indian state of Odisha has become the epicenter of a natural phenomenon. From February 16 to 25, 2025, a record mass nesting (arribada) of olive ridley turtles was recorded here - 682,000 individuals. That's up from 637,000 in 2023 and 550,000 in 2022.
Event details:
- The main clutch sites are the mouth of the Rushikulia River, Gahirmatha and Devi beaches.
- Turtles lay 100-150 eggs each in deep holes dug by their hind fins.
- This year, nesting takes place during the daytime, a rare phenomenon that has attracted the attention of tourists and scientists.

On February 24, 2025, the Pancake Festival will start in the Nikola-Lenivets Art Park. The culmination of the festival will be the burning of the 26-meter high installation “Mill” consisting of 24 towers.
The art object, made of recycled wood and hay, was built for 3.5 months. The theme of the installation is “Once upon a time there lived a poor knight...”. Guests will be able to explore the interior of the towers before the burning ceremony.

Startup Clone Robotics has unveiled a prototype of the world's first humanoid robot with a musculoskeletal-based locomotor system. The robot, called Protoclone, is equipped with more than 1,000 synthetic muscles, 500 sensors and has 200 degrees of freedom, allowing it to move as naturally as possible.
The robot's muscles, called Myofibers, mimic the way human muscles work, contracting with up to 1 kg of force while weighing only 3 grams. A sweat-like system is used for cooling. For now, Protoclone needs support for stability, but the company plans to improve its balance and release a commercial version as early as 2025.

Microsoft has unveiled the revolutionary Majorana 1 quantum chip, which utilizes topological qubits based on Majorana zero modes. SpaceX successfully launched a Falcon 9 rocket with Intuitive Machines' Nova-C landing module.
The launch took place on February 26, 2025 from a spaceport in Florida. The vehicle is scheduled to land on March 6 near Mount Mouton, presumably the highest point on the Moon. The mission will last about 10 days and includes the installation of the first lunar station of 4G cellular communication format from Nokia.

Katy Perry is gearing up for a trip to stardom - and this time it's not on stage. The singer has joined the all-female crew of Blue Origin's New Shepard spacecraft. The launch is scheduled for spring 2025.
Joining Perry in space will be:
- Lauren Sanchez, journalist and fiancée of Jeff Bezos;
- Gayle King, CBS anchorwoman;
- Aisha Bowe, former NASA rocket scientist;
- Amanda Nguyen, bioastronautical scientist;
- Keriann Flynn, movie producer.
This is the first all-female spaceflight since Valentina Tereshkova in 1963. The flight will last about 10 minutes, during which the craft will reach an altitude of about 100 kilometers above Earth.

Scientists have discovered that mice know how to provide “first aid” to their relatives. In a series of experiments, the rodents pulled out the tongue of anesthetized brethren to widen their airways. In 80% of the cases, they even removed foreign objects from their mouths, ignoring those elsewhere.
The help activated brain areas associated with empathy. Oxytocin, the social attachment hormone, was dramatically elevated in the “rescuers.” Interestingly, the mice were more likely to help acquaintances rather than strangers. This excludes a simple reflex: the rodents were clearly assessing the situation.
This behavior resembles rescue in dolphins or elephants. But in mice it was observed for the first time. Scientists believe that the instinct to help in crisis situations is an ancient trait of mammals.

This is not the plot of a horror movie, but the reality of the Brazilian city of Buriticupu. Here, the earth is literally swallowing up houses: landslides have dragged entire neighborhoods underground, leaving behind cracks as deep as high-rise buildings.
The problem has been going on for decades, but is now at its peak. 1,200 residents are at risk. The culprits are not only heavy rains eroding the sandy soils, but also massive deforestation that has stripped the land of its natural “armor”. Add to this thoughtless construction and you have the perfect recipe for disaster.
Buriticupo is not the only “sinking” city in Brazil. In Maceio, 60,000 people have abandoned their homes because of salt mining that failed the ground.

This phenomenon is considered a grand or full parade of planets because it involves all planets visible to the naked eye, and even those that require a telescope to observe.

On February 9, 2025, a rare beltfish, or herring kingfish, was spotted off El Cemado Beach in Baja California. This deep-sea creature, which normally inhabits depths of 200 to 1,000 meters, suddenly approached the shore.
In Japanese folklore, the appearance of the strapfish is considered a harbinger of disasters. In 2011, 20 such fish were spotted in Japan before the devastating tsunami. And in November 2024, one was found on a beach in California, and a month later there was a magnitude 7.0 earthquake.
