The Solar Orbiter spacecraft (a joint project of ESA and NASA) has taken a stunning image of the Sun from a distance of only 77 million kilometers! The photo shows fine particles in the magnetic field, dark “filaments” and bright areas of activity, ready to set off cosmic fireworks at any moment.
The most interesting thing is that this is not a simple photo, but a photomontage of 200 separate images!

Microsoft has unveiled DxGPT, a neural network that helps doctors diagnose and select treatment, especially for rare diseases. All you need to do is specify the patient's age, gender and describe symptoms (in English). The service analyses the data, compares it with medical records and clinical cases, and then suggests likely diagnoses and therapy options.
DxGPT is based on GPT-4o and o1 language models trained on real medical data. The service is free, does not store personal information and is already used by more than 500,000 people worldwide. However, doctors warn: neural network is an assistant, not a replacement for a specialist, and should not be engaged in self-treatment.

Scientists have announced the discovery of a new color - “olo”. It is something between blue and green, but with a saturation that is impossible to see in nature or on a screen - you need a special laser that stimulates only the M-cone of the retina. Olo has only been seen by five people, and all describe it as an “unrealistically bright blue-green,” but no palette conveys the effect. Experts argue: to some, it's just a very saturated green; to others, it's a real breakthrough in color science.

The solpuga, or “camel spider” (Latin Solifugae), is a large spider that lives in arid regions.
Despite its nickname, the solpuga is not a real spider and is not dangerous to humans: it has no venom, and its bite, although painful, is not fatal. The body is covered with long hairs, powerful chelicerae can bite the skin and even feathers of birds. Solpugs are nocturnal, run fast and feed on insects, small animals and even chicks.

DJI Mavic 3 made a flight that previously seemed impossible: the drone was launched from the very summit of Everest - 8848.86 metres above sea level. It travelled the entire climbing route, capturing 4K panoramas of the base camp, the Khumbu Icefall, all the intermediate camps and the summit itself.
For such a flight, the drone had to cope with extreme conditions: thin air, temperatures as low as -60°C and winds of up to 100 kilometres per hour.

Elephants at the San Diego Zoo rounded up cubs during the earthquake!
On 14 April 2025, during a magnitude 5.2 earthquake at the San Diego Zoo, a herd of African elephants displayed an amazing instinct: the adults - Ndlula, Umngani and Kosi - instantly converged and formed a protective circle around two seven-year-old elephant cubs, Zuli and Mkhaya. The adults stood outward, spreading their ears and carefully observing the situation, while the babies were in the centre of the circle.
This behaviour is called the ‘alarm circle’ - it is the elephants' natural response to a threat: cubs in the centre, adults outside, ready to protect the herd. Elephants are able to pick up vibrations through their feet, which helps them react quickly to danger. The video shows one of the elephants gently nudging a baby elephant with its trunk to keep it close to the adults.
