The structure is built to withstand the strongest cyclones and is equipped with highly complex systems: over 260,000 tons of steel, 3,000 km of electrical cables, seven boilers for power generation, and a comprehensive safety system.

The crater is almost completely hidden beneath layers of limestone, but its surface contours are visible thanks to a ring of deep cenotes — natural water-filled sinkholes.
