Everything that is bright red in food is probably a gift from the cochineal worm! This miniature beetle, which lives on cacti, is the main source of the natural food coloring E120, or carmine.
Carmine is obtained from dried cochineal females: they are harvested by hand, dried and the pigment extracted. Thousands of insects are needed for one kilogram of dye. That is why the E120 is more expensive than most synthetic analogues.
Carmine is used in sausages, yoghurts, ketchups, juices, sweets, ice cream and even alcoholic beverages. If the product is "deliciously red", there is a high probability that there is a bit of a bug in it.
Carmine is considered safe, but it can cause allergies in sensitive people. But for vegans and Muslims, this dye is prohibited.

The sushi scene in the animated film Isle of Dogs took a month of continuous frame-by-frame animation: animators Andy Biddle and Tony Farquhar-Smith spent 32 days manually filming every movement to achieve perfect fluidity and realism.
Before filming, the team spent weeks studying Japanese cuisine and the techniques of sushi chefs, and used silicone and miniature tools to simulate the cutting of fish.

Amazon has posted a rare video of the launch of Project Kuiper satellites: 27 satellites were launched into orbit at an altitude of about 450 kilometres using an Atlas V rocket.
The video shows the satellites being released three at a time from a special distribution system.
Project Kuiper is a global network for satellite internet, a competitor to Starlink. More than 3,200 satellites are planned in total, with the service launching at the end of 2025.

A Soviet satellite weighing half a ton could fall to Earth as early as this week!
The Cosmos-482 space station has been drifting in orbit for 53 years and is now rapidly descending. According to experts' calculations, the apparatus weighing about 500 kilograms will enter the atmosphere in the next few days - the exact date and place of the fall is impossible to predict.
The satellite capsule is designed for extreme conditions - part of the structure can survive the re-entry into the atmosphere and reach the surface almost intact. The potential fall zone is between 52° north and 52° south latitude.
Experts note: the risk to people is minimal, but it cannot be completely ruled out. If the fall happens in the daytime, it will look like a bright, slow meteor flying apart.

Seiko showed a prototype of Sundial - “Watch Exclusively for Sunny Men”, designed by Yu Ishihara for the Incredibly Specialized Watch Exhibition. It is not just an accessory, but a miniature equatorial solar observatory: the case opens, a gnomon (a pin for shade) is hidden inside, there is a bubble level and degree locks for different latitudes.
The watch shows the time only when the sun is shining, and the accuracy is up to -0.58 seconds per year. The model is a one-of-a-kind piece and is not for sale yet, but such unique watches usually cost around $27,000.
