Chinese scientists from the National University of Defense Technology have unveiled a miniature mosquito-sized drone designed for covert reconnaissance missions. The drone, demonstrated on CCTV 7, features a bionic design: a thin body, two wings that mimic insect wings, and three ultra-thin supports.

A 35-40 million-year-old piece of amber with an ancient cockroach inside has been found in Kaliningrad. Such an exhibit is a real success for paleontologists: usually tiny flies or bugs come across in amber, but a cockroach is almost an "ancient dinosaur" among insects.

Norwegian Aqua
This cruise monster is a real floating entertainment city! The main feature is the world's first Aqua Slidecoaster, which manages to be both a roller coaster and a waterslide. Sounds crazy, but it works.
It will fit almost 3,600 passengers on board and can hang out at 20+ restaurants and bars. The three-story go-kart track and 1,400-seat theater are especially cool.
The liner started itineraries in 2024, mostly sailing the Caribbean in winter and the Mediterranean in summer. A stateroom costs from $100-200 per night per person, but with all the entertainment, it's quite a bargain.

Midjourney has released its first video model, V1. Users can now animate images created in the service, or even just text prompts.
The model generates videos up to 20 seconds long, in 480p resolution and at 24 frames per second. This is Midjourney's first step into the world of generative video - previously the service only worked with static images 🎬

Solar Orbiter was the first spacecraft to photograph the south pole of the Sun - before that, all images of the star were taken only from the equatorial plane, where the Earth and all other planets are located.
This unique data will help us understand how the Sun's magnetic field works, its 11-year activity cycle and the nature of the solar wind.
The star has poles, and they are much more interesting than they seemed. ☀️

The NBA Finals for the first time showed a gambling ad created entirely by the Veo 3 neural network. The author of the video is PJ Ace, known for his AI movies.
All graphics, script and editing are the work of artificial intelligence. This is the first time an AI ad at this level has aired during a major sporting event.
Now even NBA commercials are now the work of neural networks, not humans. 🏀

The Vera C. The Vera C. Rubin Observatory in Chile has unveiled the first images from its new telescope - and it's a real breakthrough! In one photo of the Virgo cluster, 10 million galaxies were captured at once. Many of them astronomers saw for the first time: previously such objects were simply inaccessible for observations.
The telescope is equipped with the largest digital camera in the world (3.2 gigapixels), which allows you to capture the smallest details in huge areas of the sky. The first photo has already become a sensation in the scientific community - it will help to study the structure of the Universe, look for new supernovae, dark matter and even distant exoplanets.
One image - and 10 million galaxies! The cosmos is closer than ever. 🌌🔭

The Sun fired the most powerful flare - and again “missed” the Earth
The Sun reminded of its power: at night recorded a flare level X1.9 - the third most powerful in 2025. The energy of such an explosion is comparable to billions of hydrogen bombs. Usually such events cause magnetic storms, communication failures and auroras.
But this time, as before, the plasma ejection went upward, toward the north pole of the solar system, not toward Earth. Scientists are baffled: it's as if there's an invisible barrier deflecting the streams. The reason is the mysterious magnetic configuration of the active region.
For Earth, this is good news - no storms or blackouts. But for science, a new puzzle.

Honda has entered the space race: the company has successfully launched and landed its reusable launch vehicle for the first time.
On 17 June 2025, the 6.3-metre-high prototype lifted off 271 metres from the Taiki Proving Ground in Hokkaido, stayed in the air for 56 seconds and landed just 37 cm from the target. The landing used supports similar to those of the Falcon 9.

Deodorant has been retired: the PlaDeo gadget kills the bacteria that cause sweat odour.
The odour comes not from the sweat itself - it is almost odourless - but from bacteria that feed on the proteins and fats in sweat secretions and release pungent substances. PlaDeo shoots cold plasma at these bacteria in the armpits, killing up to 90 per cent of them in 1.5 minutes.
Clinical trials have shown: after treatment, odour disappears all day long, without chemicals or irritation.
Freshness is not a fight against sweat, but a war against bacteria. 🦾

Boundary of the oceans: the mystery of Drake Passage
In the Drake Passage, where the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans meet, you can see a rare phenomenon - the waters of the two oceans do not seem to mix, forming a clear boundary. This is due to the difference in salinity, temperature and density of the water masses.
On the surface there is a visible line, like an invisible wall separating the elements. Scientists explain that mixing still occurs, but much slower than it seems to the eye.
This place is one of the most severe and mysterious on the planet.
