የምርምር ስራ በዋናነት በአንድ ዘርፍ ላይ እውቀትን ለማዳበር እና ሁኔታወችን ከመሰረታቸው ለመረዳት ወይም ያጋጠሙ ችግሮችን ለመፍታት ሊሰራ ይችላል፡፡

በከፍተኛ ትምህርት ላይ ያሉ ተማሪዎች እንዲሁም በስራ ላይ ያሉ ባለሞያዎች በምርምር ስራ ላይ ሊሳተፉ ይችላሉ፡፡

በተለይ የከፍተኛ ትምህርት ተማሪዎች ላይ የምርምር ሀሳብ እንዴት እናግኝ ወይም እንወስን የሚለው ጥያቄ ብዙ ጊዜ ይነሳል፡፡ የምርምር ሀሳብ ለማግኘት ወይም ለመምረጥ የሚከተሉት ነጥቦች ሊያግዙ ይችላሉ፡፡

1. Observation (አካባቢን ማየት) :- በአካባቢያችን፣ በስራ ቦታ እንዲሁም በመኖሪያ አካባቢ፣ የምናያቸው ችግሮች ወይም ሂደቶችን ለምርምር ስራ ሀሳብ ልናገኝባቸው ይችላሉ፡፡
በቀላሉ ለምሳሌ አንድ መምህር የተማሪዎቹ ውጤት ቢቀንስበት ለምን ቀነሰ ብሎ ችግሩንና የችግሩን መንስኤ ሊያጠና ይችላል፡፡ በተመሳሳይ የተማሪዎቹን ውጤት እንዴት መጨመር ወይም ማስተካከል ይቻላል የሚለውንም ሊያጠና ይችላል፡፡

2. Literature review (ማንበብ):- አንድ ተመራማሪ ወይም ተማሪ ሁልጊዜም እንደልምድ መያዝ ያለበት ነገር ሳይንሳዊ እና ትምህርታዊ ጆርናሎችን መከታተልና ማንበብ ነው፡፡ በየአመቱ በየዘርፉ በሺ የሚቆጠሩ የምርምር ስራ ውጤቶች በጆርናሎች ይታተማሉ፡፡ የምርምር ስራዎችን ማየትና ማንበብ በቀጣይ ለሚሰራ ምርምር መነሻ ሀሳብ ይገኝበታል፡፡
ለምሳሌ የተማሪዎችን ውጤት እንዴት መጨመር እንደሚቻል የተሰራን ጥናት ፅሁፍ ያነበበ መምህር እሱ ከሚያስተምራቸው ተማሪዎች አንፃር ወይም በተለየ እይታ ሊሰራው ይችላል፡፡

3. የምርምር እና ትምህርታዊ ኮንፈረንሶችን፣
ሴሚናሮችን እና ፕረዘንቴሽኖችን መከታተል:- በተለይ በከፍተኛ ትምህርት ተቋማት የሚደረጉ የምርምር ስራ የሚቀርቡባቸው ፕሮግራሞች ለምርምር ስራ ሀሳብ ከማግኘት ባለፈ በአጠቃላይ ስለምርምር ስራ ሂደት መማር ይቻላል፡፡

What to avoid in your academic writing

🔰Run-on sentences - a type of sentence in which 2 or more independent ideas are not separated by comas or full stops. Such sentences are messy and are generally considered a mistake typical for a primitive writing style.

🔰Too short or too large paragraphs - each paragraph should not be less than 3 lines and should not exceed your other paragraphs. The amount of writing required to support your ideas should be more or less equal. The paragraphs should also not be too short since they all have to contain their own introductory sentence, body part and concluding sentence.

🔰Huge citations - cite original sources only when it is really needed. Avoid useless citations intended merely to pour the water in your writing. Also, be sure to correctly format your citations according to chosen citation style. Remember to use specific format requirements for large citations.

🔰Confused thoughts and ideas - it is important that your writing is easily understandable and ‘user-friendly‘. Whatever is the topic of your writing, it should be easy for reading. Avoid complicacy and rather simplify your thoughts.

Dummy regression model

🍎A dummy regression model is a type of regression analysis that includes one or more categorical predictor variables, also known as dummy variables.

🍎Dummy variables are binary variables that take on a value of 0 or 1 to represent the presence or absence of a particular category.

🍎In a dummy regression model, the categorical predictor variables are used to predict the value of a continuous outcome variable.

🍎The model estimates coefficients for each dummy variable, which indicate the change in the outcome associated with the presence of that category relative to a reference category (which is assigned a value of 0 for all dummy variables).

🍎The coefficients can be interpreted as the difference in the intercept or slope of the regression line between the reference category and the other categories.

የፕረዘንቴሽን ፍርሀትን እንዴት ማስወገድ እንችላለን?
ፕረዘንቴሽን በትምህርት ሂወታችን ውስጥ ከሚያጋጥሙን ሂደቶችና የመፈተኛ መንገዶች ውስጥ አንዱ ነው፡፡
በተለይ በከፍተኛ ትምህርት ላይ መምህራን አሳሳይንመንቶችን ፣ ፕሮጀክቶችን ፣ የምርምር ስራዎችን እና የመሳሰሉትን ተማሪዎች በክላስ ውስጥ ፕረዘንት እንዲያደርጉ ይጠይቃሉ፡፡
ከትምህርት አለም ውጪም በተለያዮ የስራ ጉዳዮች ላይ ፕረዘንት እንድናደርግ ሊጠበቅብን ይችላል፡፡
ታዲያ በፕረዘንቴሽን ጊዜ የብዙዎች ችግር ፍርሀት ነው፡፡ ሰው ፊት ቆሞ የመናገር ፍርሀት፡፡
የፕረዘንቴሽን ፍርሀት የብዙ ሰዎች ችግር ነው፡፡ ጥናቶች እንደሚጠቁሙት እስከ 80 % የሚሆኑትን ሰዎች ጋር ያለ ችግር ነው፡፡ በእርግጥ ችግር ነው ተብሎም ሊነሳም አይችል ይሆናል፡፡ ምክንያቱም መምህራንን ጨምሮ የ public speaking ልምድ ያላቸው አርቲስቶች፣ ፓለቲከኞች፣ የሀይማኖት መሪዎች ሁሉ የሚጋሩት common ስሜት ስለሆነ ነው፡፡
ይህ የፕረዘንቴሽን (public speaking) ፍርሀት ጤናማ ስሜት ነው፡፡ የሁሉም ሰው የጋራ ሰሜትና እንዲያውም የራሱ ጥቅሞችም ያሉት ስሜት ነው፡፡ ችግር የሚሆነው ፍርሀቱ በጣም ከበዛና ቅጥ ካጣ ነው፡፡
የሚከተሉት መንገዶች የፕረዘንቴሽንን ፍርሀት ለመቀነስና ውጤታማ ፕረዘንቴሽን ለማድረግ ያግዛሉ፡፡
1. የፕረዘንቴሽን ፍርሀት ጤናማና common ስሜት እንደሆነ መረዳት፡፡
Literally ሁሉም ሰው ይፈራል፡፡ ልዮነቱ፡አንዳንዶች ማኔጅ ያደርጉታል አንዳንዶች አያደርጉትም፡፡
ይህ የፍርሀት ስሜት ሊያስደነግጠን ሳይሆን በደንብ እንድንዘጋጅ ሊያመላክተን ይገባል፡፡
ፍርሀት ጥቅም አለው፡፡ ይሄውም ባዮሎጂካሊ በሰውነታችን ውስጥ የሆርሞንን መጠን ከፍ በማድረግ የበለጠ ኢነርጂ እንዲኖረን ያደርጋል፡፡
2. ፕረዘንቴሽን ልምምድ (rehearsal )
ፕረዘንቴሽን ልምምድ ይፈልጋል፡፡ ፕረዘንት የምናደርገውን ነገር በደንብ ማወቃችንን፣ ቋንቋችንን፣ ድምፃችንን እንዲሁም ሰአት አጠቃቀማችንን የምናስተካክለው በልምምድ ኀው፡፡
ፕረዘንት የሚያደርግ ሰው ልክ እንደ መድረክ ተዋናይ ነው፡፡ ፕረዘንቴሽንም በራሱ በተወሰነ መንገድ ትወና ነው፡፡ በመሆኑም ማንም ተዋናይ በደንብ ሳይለማመድ መድረክ ላይ እንደማይወጣ ፕረዘንት የሚያደርግ ሰውም በበቂ ሁኔታ ልምምድ ማድረግ ይኖርበታል፡፡
በምንለማመድበት ጊዜ ጓደኞቻችን ፊት ሊሇን ይችላል ወይም ብቻችንን ቆመን ሰው ፊት እንዳለን በማሰብ መለማመድ ይቻላል፡፡
" Practice makes perfect"
3. መረጋጋት፣ እራስን ማረጋጋት
4. በቂ አየር መውሰድ ፣ መተንፈስ
5. ፕረዘንት የምናደርግበትን ቦታና መምህራኑን ቀድሞ ማወቅ፡፡ ይህም ሲባል ፕረዘንት የምናደርግበት ቦታ ቀደም ብለን በመሄድ ማየትና የምንቆምበትን ቦታ ስሜቱን መረዳት ነው፡፡
6. አለባበስን ማስተካከል፡፡ ጥሩ አለባበስ በራስ መተማመንን ይጨምራል፡፡
7. ፕረዘንት የማድረግ ፍላጎትን ማዳበር፣ ይህም ሲባል ፕረዘንቴሽንን እንደ ግዴታ ሳይሆን የሰራነውን ነገር ለሰዎች እንደምናሳይበት እንደ ጥሩ አጋጣሚ መውሰድ፡፡
8. በቂ አረፍት ወስዶ መገኘት
9. ቀደም ብሎ መገኘት (አለማርፈድ)
10. ከመጀመሪያው ውጤታማ ስራ መስራት፡፡ ምክንያቱም የአንዳንዶች የፍርሀት ምንጭ በቂ ስራ ካለመስራትና ካለመዘጋጀት ነው፡፡

Research Gaps

በምርምርዎ ውስጥ የምርምር ክፍተቶችን ለመፃፍ ደረጃዎች
ከዚህ በታች በጥናትዎ ላይ ያሉ የምርምር ክፍተቶችን እና የምርምር ክፍተቶችን በምርምር ፕሮፖዛልዎ፣በመመረቂያዎ ወይም በምሳሌዎች በመታገዝ የአጻጻፍ ዘዴን ለመለየት የሚረዱዎት ደረጃዎች ናቸው።

1- ከቀደምት ምርምር የተወሰኑትን ተወያዩ
በቀደሙት ጽሑፎች ውስጥ ያሉትን ክፍተቶች ከመመርመርዎ በፊት በመጀመሪያ የተወሰኑትን ቀደምት ጥናቶች በጽሑፎቹ ውስጥ መጥቀስ አለብዎት ፣ ይህም የጥናቱን ልዩ ርዕስ የማይመለከት ነው። መዋጮዎቹ አስቀድመው ከተለዩት ተቃርኖዎች፣ ክፍተቶች እና ጉዳዮች ጋር የተያያዙ መሆን አለባቸው።
ባለፈው ጊዜ የተጠኑ የ____ የተለያዩ ገጽታዎች ነበሩ፣ ከእነዚህም መካከል (1) (ከሁለት እስከ ሶስት መጣጥፎችን ጥቀስ)፣ (2) (ከሁለት እስከ ሶስት መጣጥፎችን ጥቀስ) እና (3) (ከሁለት እስከ ሶስት መጣጥፎችን ጥቀስ)።

2- አስፈላጊ ክፍተቶችን መለየት
ቀጣዩ ደረጃ ተመራማሪዎች በሥነ ጽሑፍ ውስጥ ያሉ ጉልህ ክፍተቶችን፣ ተቃርኖዎችን ወይም ውዝግቦችን ማመላከት ነው። ይህ በጉዳዩ ላይ ተጨማሪ ምርመራ እንደሚያስፈልግ ለማሳየት ይረዳል. ይህ ተግባር በጊዜው ሊጠናቀቅ ይችላል።
ነገር ግን፣ በተጨማሪም፣ ይህ ጥናት (የእርስዎን የጥናት ርዕስ ይጻፉ) በቅርቡ በሌሎች ዘርፎች ላይ የጥናት ፍላጎት ያሳደሩ በርካታ ያልተዳሰሱ ባህሪያትን ይሸፍናል (ከሁለት እስከ ሶስት ተዛማጅ ጽሑፎችን ጥቀስ)
በ _  አተያይ፣ ከእነዚህ ውስጥ ብዙዎቹ ያልተገለጹት ጉልህ እና ለምርመራ ብቁ ይመስላሉ። የእነዚህ ጉዳዮች ምርመራ አስፈላጊ ነው ምክንያቱም  በተጨማሪም፣ የቀደመው ተጨባጭ ጥናት ዋና ርዕሰ ጉዳይ _ ነው። በ  ላይ፣ በጣም ጥቂት ጥናቶች ተከናውነዋል።

3- የማጠቃለያ መግለጫ ይጻፉ
ተመራማሪው የሚጽፈውን የእጅ ጽሑፍ ዓላማ እና ለዕውቀት አካል የሚያበረክተውን አስተዋጽኦ በግልፅ መግለጽ አለበት። በሥነ ጽሑፍ ውስጥ ክፍተቶችን፣ ቅራኔዎችን እና/ወይም መከራከሪያዎችን የሚለይ መግለጫው ምክንያታዊ በሆነ መንገድ ወደዚህ መግለጫ መግባት አለበት።
በቀደመው ምርምር እና ስነ-ጽሁፍ ውስጥ ተመራማሪው አራት ጉልህ ክፍተቶችን አግኝተዋል. በመጀመሪያ፣ ተመራማሪው በ _ ላይ ቀደም ባሉት ጥናቶች ውስጥ የንድፈ ሃሳባዊ ቀዳዳ የሚመስል ነገር አግኝተዋል። ቀደም ባለው ጥናት ውስጥ በርካታ የ____ ገጽታዎች ተሸፍነዋል፣ (1) _ (ከሁለት እስከ ሶስት ተዛማጅ ወረቀቶችን ጥቀስ)፣ (2) _ (ከሁለት እስከ ሶስት ተዛማጅ ጽሑፎችን ጥቀስ) እና _ (3) ን ጨምሮ። (ከሁለት እስከ ሶስት ተዛማጅ ጽሑፎችን ጥቀስ)።
ሁለተኛ፣ ቀደም ሲል የተደረጉ ምርምሮችን ከገመገሙ በኋላ የሕዝብ ልዩነት ይታያል። ከ_ ጋር ክፍተት አለ። ቀደም ባሉት ጥናቶች ውስጥ, ይህ የህዝብ ቡድን በቂ ያልሆነ ትኩረት አግኝቷል. በተጨማሪም   በቅርብ ጊዜ ከተለያዩ መስኮች የምርምር ፍላጎት የሳቡ በርካታ ያልተዳሰሱ ልኬቶችን ያካትታል። (ከሁለት እስከ ሶስት ተዛማጅ ጽሑፎችን ጥቀስ)።
ሦስተኛ, ተመራማሪው ቀደም ሲል በተመረጠው ምርምር ውስጥ የእውቀት ክፍተት የሚመስለውን _. በተጨማሪም ከዚህ በፊት በተደረጉት የጥናት ውጤቶች ውስጥ ከርዕሰ ጉዳዩ ጋር የማይጣጣሙ አለመጣጣሞች እና ተቃርኖዎች አሉ። በ አመለካከት ከእነዚህ ያልተገኙ                       ቀደም ሲል        የተቃረበ መሆኑ በቀድሞዎቹ ጥናቶች ጠቃሚ እና ዋስትና ያለው ጥያቄ ይመስላሉ። የእነዚህ ችግሮች ምርመራ ወሳኝ ነው ምክንያቱም _።
በመጨረሻም ተመራማሪው ቀደም ባሉት ጥናቶች ውስጥ ተጨባጭ ክፍተት አግኝቷል. የቀደሙት ጽሑፎች ጥልቅ ምርምር የላቸውም። ቅድመ ጥናት በአብዛኛው ያተኮረው በ  ላይ ነው። ጉዳዩን በበቂ ሁኔታ ለመገምገም የተደረገው በጣም ትንሽ ጥናት ነው። በ _ ውስጥ ያሉትን ክፍተቶች በመፍታት፣ በዚህ ጥናት ውስጥ ከፌዴራል መንግስት ጋር በአስተዳደር አፈጻጸም ላይ አዲስ ምርመራ ለማቅረብ ዓላማ እናደርጋለን። ጥናቱ የአራት ነገሮች ተፅእኖዎችን ይመረምራል፡ (1)    (2)   (3) እና ____ (4)

9 BASIC WAYS TO IMPROVE YOUR ACADEMIC WRITING STYLE

1️⃣   Use ACTIVE VOICE
Don't say: "The stepmother's house was cleaned by Cinderella." (Passive.)
Say instead: "Cinderella cleaned the stepmother's house." (Active voice.)
Passive voice construction ("was cleaned") is reserved for those occasions where the "do-er" of the action is unknown.
Example: "Prince Charming saw the glass slipper that was left behind."

2️⃣  Mix it up in terms of PUNCTUATION
Here are a few commonly misused punctuation marks that a lot of people aren't sure about:

✅ The semi-colon (;) separates two complete sentences that are complementary.

Example: "She was always covered in cinders from cleaning the fireplace; they called her Cinderella."

✅ The colon (:) is used...

   💎 preceding a list.
Example: "Before her stepmother awoke, Cinderella had three chores to complete: feeding the chickens, cooking breakfast, and doing the wash."

   💎 as a sort of "drum roll," preceding some big revelation.
Example: "One thing fueled the wicked stepmother's hatred for Cinderella: jealousy."

✅ The dash (--) is made by typing two hyphens (-). No spaces go in between the dash and the text. It is used...

   💎 bracket off some explanatory information.
Example: "Even Cinderella's stepsisters-who were not nearly as lovely or virtuous as Cinderella--were allowed to go to the ball."

 💎 in the "drum roll" sense of the colon.
Example: "Prince Charming would find this mystery lady--even if he had to put the slipper on every other girl in the kingdom."

3️⃣  Vary your SENTENCE STRUCTURE
Don't say: "Cinderella saw her fairy godmother appear. She was dressed in blue. She held a wand. The wand had a star on it. She was covered in sparkles. Cinderella was amazed. She asked who the woman was. The woman said, 'I am your fairy godmother.' She said she would get Cinderella a dress and a coach. She said she would help Cinderella go to the ball."

Instead say: (there are multiple correct ways to rewrite this, but here's one) "Amazed, Cinderella watched as her fairy godmother appeared. The woman dressed in blue was covered in sparkles and carried a star-shaped wand. Cinderella asked the woman who she was, to which the woman replied, 'I am your fairy godmother." The fairy godmother would get Cinderella a dress and a coach; she would help Cinderella get to the ball."

4️⃣   Closely related to this, avoid CHOPPINESS
Don't say: "She scrubbed the floors. They were dirty. She used a mop. She sighed sadly. It was as if she were a servant ."

Instead say : (again, there are multiple ways to do this) "She scrubbed the dirty floors using a mop, as if she were a servant. She sighed sadly."

6️⃣   Be CONCISE
Don't say: "The mystery lady was one who every eligible man at the ball admired."

Instead say : "Every eligible man at the ball admired the mystery lady."

7️⃣   Use the VOCABULARY that you know
Don't always feel you have to use big words. It is always better to be clear and use simple language rather than showing off flashy words you aren't sure about and potentially misusing them. This is not to say, however, that you should settle for very weak vocabulary choices (like "bad" or "big" or "mad").

8️⃣   But also work on expanding your VOCABULARY
When reading, look up words you don't know. See how they're used. Start a list. Incorporate them into your writing as you feel comfortable and as they are appropriate.

9️⃣   Keep language FORMAL and avoid language of everyday speech
Don't say: "Cinderella was mellow and good. She never let her stepmother get to her ."

Say instead: "Cinderella was mild-mannered and kind. She never let her stepmother affect her high spirits ."

6 Tips for Giving a Fabulous Academic Presentation

One of the easiest ways to stand out at an academic conference is to give a fantastic presentation.

In this post, I will discuss a few simple techniques that can make your presentation stand out. Although, it does take time to make a good presentation, it is well worth the investment.

Tip #1: Use PowerPoint Judiciously

Images are powerful. Research shows that images help with memory and learning. Use this to your advantage by finding and using images that help you make your point. One trick I have learned is that you can use images that have blank space in them and you can put words in those images.

PowerPoint is a great tool, so long as you use it effectively. Generally, this means using lots of visuals and relatively few words. Never use less than 24-point font. And, please, never put your presentation on the slides and read from the slides.

Tip #2: There is a formula to academic presentations. Use it.

Once you have become an expert at giving fabulous presentations, you can deviate from the formula. However, if you are new to presenting, you might want to follow it. This will vary slightly by field, however, I will give an example from my field – sociology – to give you an idea as to what the format should look like:

Introduction/Overview/Hook

Theoretical Framework/Research Question

Methodology/Case Selection

Background/Literature Review

Discussion of Data/Results

Analysis

Conclusion

Tip #3: The audience wants to hear about your research. Tell them.

One of the most common mistakes I see in people giving presentations is that they present only information I already know. This usually happens when they spend nearly all of the presentation going over the existing literature and giving background information on their particular case. You need only to discuss the literature with which you are directly engaging and contributing. Your background information should only include what is absolutely necessary. If you are giving a 15-minute presentation, by the 6th minute, you need to be discussing your data or case study. At conferences, people are there to learn about your new and exciting research, not to hear a summary of old work.

Tip #4: Practice. Practice. Practice.

You should always practice your presentation in full before you deliver it. You might feel silly delivering your presentation to your cat or your toddler, but you need to do it and do it again. You need to practice to ensure that your presentation fits within the time parameters. Practicing also makes it flow better. You can’t practice too many times.

Tip #5: Keep To Your Time Limit

If you have ten minutes to present, prepare ten minutes of material. No more. Even if you only have seven minutes, you need to finish within the allotted time. If you write your presentation out, a general rule of thumb is two minutes per typed, double-spaced page. For a fifteen-minute talk, you should have no more than 7 double-spaced pages of material.

Tip #6: Don’t Read Your Presentation

Yes, I know that in some fields reading is the norm. But, can you honestly say that you find yourself engaged when listening to someone read their conference presentation? If you absolutely must read, I suggest you read in such a way that no one in the audience can tell you are reading. I have seen people do this successfully, and you can do it too if you write in a conversational tone, practice several times, and read your paper with emotion, conviction, and variation in tone.

Below are the steps which would help you to identify research gaps in your study and the method of writing research gaps in your research proposal, thesis or dissertation with the help of examples.

1 - Discuss some of the Previous Research

You must first mention some of the earlier research in the literature that does not address the specific topic of the research before you can examine the gaps in the preceding literature. The contributions should be related to the already identified contradictions, gaps, and issues.

There have been various aspects of ___ that have been studied in the past, including (1) (cite two to three articles), (2) (cite two to three articles), and (3) (cite two to three articles).

2 - Identify Important Gaps
The
next step is for researchers to pinpoint any significant gaps, contradictions, or controversies in the literature. This helps to demonstrate the need for more investigation into the subject matter. This task may be completed in a timely manner.
However, in addition, this research (write your research topic) covers a number of unexplored features that recently have drawn research interest in other disciplines  (cite two to three relevant articles)
In
the perspective of _ , several of these unexplored seem significant and worthy of investigation. An investigation of these issues is important because _ . Additionally, the main subject of earlier empirical research has been _. On _ , very little research has been conducted.

3 - Write Concluding Statement
The researcher must also clearly express the objectives of the manuscript that he is writing as well as the contributions it makes to the body of knowledge. The statement that identifies gaps, contradictions, and/or arguments in the literature should flow logically into this statement.
In the previous research and literature, the researcher found four significant gaps. First, the researcher found what appeared to be a theoretical hole in earlier studies on _. Several facets of __ have been covered in earlier study, including

CONTENTS OF VARIOUS PARTS OF THE THESIS

Note there are some sections i chose to leave out in the struture because they are mostly optional or not neccesary. I will mainly discuss the ones in the structure

✅TITLE PAGE
This section is the first page of the thesis. It contains:

💎Degree to be attained and
💎The School/ Universinty/ college

✅ABSTRACT
The abstract shall not be more than 200-300 words depending on the type of degree and shall contain the following:
💎A brief statement of the specific objectives and envisaged contributions of the research work.
💎 A brief statement of research methodology used (principles only) including methods of data analysis
💎A brief straight-to-the-point summary of specific findings
💎A statement of implications of the findings
NOTE: It may be placed at the top but it is written at the end of the work

💎ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
The author shall acknowledge in his/her own words the assistance given by others during the research work and the preparation of thesis.

💎TABLE OFCONTENTS
This shall contain a list of all the major component parts of the thesis and the respective pages on which they begin, starting with report.

🔰MAIN BODY🔰

✅CHAPTER 1️⃣ (Introduction)
This chapter shall be devoted primarily to justifying the research work. Accordingly, the chapter shall contain:

💎A general overview of the background, concept, general objectives and scope of theresearch. This may include statementof the problem, significance/purpose of study.

💎Specific objectives of the research work orworking hypothesis, as the case may be.

💎Specific proposals (statements only) on how toachieve the specific research objective test the working hypothesis above
Scope and limitation of the research

✅CHAPTER 2️⃣ (Literature Review)
This entails an exhaustive but incisive, coherent and up-to-date review of relevant literature in the research area. The candidate is expected to show a high proficiency in information retrieval and interpretation. The literature review shall be geared towards justifying the defined objectives of the research. Consequently, the style of presentation of retrieved information and their interpretation shall be purposeful, directed solely at establishing the premises for the research work

✅CHAPTER 3️⃣ (Methodology)

👉This chapter shall contain a list of rare/highly specialized materials and a detailed description of the methods employed in the research work. In the Materials section shall be listed chemicals, reagents, living organisms and other biological materials, apparatuses/gadgets, and equipment that are not used routinely in the laboratory. General or routine laboratory materials used in the work shall be given within the context of
description of the methods. Candidates shall comply with current international conventions on nomenclature and identification of scientific materials in their sub- disciplines.

Under Method section shall be described all the experimental methods used in the work. Only new methods developed by the candidate shall be described in full. Where an established published method was used unmodified, candidate shall merely cite the relevant reference. However, where an established method has been modified or adapted by the candidate, candidate shall describe the extent to which the method was modified or adapted. In describing the methods, candidate shall state all the special precautions taken in the course of applying the methods as well as the statistical methods used in analyzing the data.

👉Irrespective of the disciplines where the method used was primarily library search or purely theoretical, there need not be a separate chapter on Method/Methodology. The description of the method can be incorporated into the introduction or literature review chapter as a section ​​

Mixed research ማለት በአንድ ጥናታዊ ጽሁፍ ውስጥ ሁለት መንገዶችን (Qualitative ና quantitative)በአንድ ላይ ስንጠቀምበት ነው።

♻️ይህም ሁለቱን እኩል(parallel)ወይም ተራ በተራ (sequential) በmixed research design መሰራት መጠቀም እንችላለን

❓ይህንን የreseach አይነት በብዛት በማስተርስ እና በፒ.ኤች.ዲ የትምህርት ደረጃ የሚጠቀሙበት ሲሆን በመጀመሪያ ዲግሪ ግን በብዛት አይመከርም።

❓ሁለት የተለያዩ የreseach መንገዶችን በአንድ ላይ ለመጠቀም ከሌሎቹ በተለየ መንገድ ጥንቃቄ እና እውቀት ሊጠይቅ ይችላል።

🥴በተለምዶ ሰዎች ሁለቱንም( qualitativeና quantitative መንገድ እጠቀማለሁ ስሉ እንሰማለን። ነገር ግን የmixed method ትክክለኛ መንገድ ሳይከተሉ መቅረት በመጨረሻ ላይ ለችግር ያጋልጣል ።

👇ትክክለኛ mixed method core characteristics የሚከተሉት ናቻው።

1⃣ ከmixed methods ውስጥ የትኛውን Design እንደምትጠቀሙ መግለጽ ይኖርባችኋል። (concurrent triangulation, Sequential or embaded)

ይህም ብቻ አይደለም ለእያንደንዱ የትኛውን Design እንደምትጠቀሙ መግላጽ ያስፈልጋል ።
💠Qualitative (phenomenology, ethnography,..etc)
💠Quantitative (Cross sectional, Experimental, cohort... Etc)
ተብሎ ሊገለጽ ይገባል ።

2⃣ ለሁሉቱም (qualitative & quantitative) ትክክለኛ methodology መከተል ያስፈልጋል ። Data collection method & materials, sample size, data analysis, ለሁለቱም በተገቢው መንገድ ሊብራራ ይገባል። ይህም ለሁለቱም ለየብቻ መብራራ/መተንተን ይኖርበታል።

3⃣በሁለቱን መንገድ የተሰበሰበው Data (መረጃ) Analize መድረግ ያስፈልጋል። ለሁለቱም ለየብቻ Analysis መስራት ያስፈልጋል።

4⃣ከሁለቱም የተገኛውን results ከግምት በማስገባት discussion ላይ መግለጽ ያስፈልጋል። ይህም የአንዱ result የሌለውን ይደግፈል ወይም አይደግፍም የሚለው ዋና የmixed method አላማ ነው። ከሁለቱም የተገኘውን ውጤት Triangulate ማድረግ ያስፈልጋል፣ ይህ የማይሆን ከሆነ mixed methods ፈይዳ የለውም።

⁉️ነገር ግን በጥናቱ የምትጠቀሙበት mixed study design የሚወሰን ይሆናል። ምክንያቱም ለ Sequential እና ለ convergent ወይም ለ embaded ተመሳሳይ አይነት መንገድ አትከተሉም፣ Methodology አጻጻፍም በተወሰነ መልኩ ይላያያል።

9 BASIC WAYS TO IMPROVE YOUR STYLE IN ACADEMIC WRITING

1️⃣ Use ACTIVE VOICE
Don't say: "The stepmother's house was cleaned by Cinderella." (Passive.)
Say instead: "Cinderella cleaned the stepmother's house." (Active voice.)
Passive voice construction ("was cleaned") is reserved for those occasions where the "do-er" of the action is unknown.
Example: "Prince Charming saw the glass slipper that was left behind."

2️⃣ Mix it up in terms of PUNCTUATION
Here are a few commonly misused punctuation marks that a lot of people aren't sure about:

🔰 The semi-colon (;) separates two complete sentences that are complementary.

Example: "She was always covered in cinders from cleaning the fireplace; they called her Cinderella."

🔰 The colon (:) is used...

▪️ preceding a list.
Example: "Before her stepmother awoke, Cinderella had three chores to complete: feeding the chickens, cooking breakfast, and doing the wash."

▪️ as a sort of "drum roll," preceding some big revelation.
Example: "One thing fueled the wicked stepmother's hatred for Cinderella: jealousy."

🔰 The dash (--) is made by typing two hyphens (-). No spaces go in between the dash and the text. It is used...

▪️ bracket off some explanatory information.
Example: "Even Cinderella's stepsisters-who were not nearly as lovely or virtuous as Cinderella--were allowed to go to the ball."

▪️ in the "drum roll" sense of the colon.
Example: "Prince Charming would find this mystery lady--even if he had to put the slipper on every other girl in the kingdom."

3️⃣ Vary your SENTENCE STRUCTURE
Don't say: "Cinderella saw her fairy godmother appear. She was dressed in blue. She held a wand. The wand had a star on it. She was covered in sparkles. Cinderella was amazed. She asked who the woman was. The woman said, 'I am your fairy godmother.' She said she would get Cinderella a dress and a coach. She said she would help Cinderella go to the ball."

Instead say: (there are multiple correct ways to rewrite this, but here's one) "Amazed, Cinderella watched as her fairy godmother appeared. The woman dressed in blue was covered in sparkles and carried a star-shaped wand. Cinderella asked the woman who she was, to which the woman replied, 'I am your fairy godmother." The fairy godmother would get Cinderella a dress and a coach; she would help Cinderella get to the ball."

4️⃣ Closely related to this, avoid CHOPPINESS
🔴Don't say: "She scrubbed the floors. They were dirty. She used a mop. She sighed sadly. It was as if she were a servant ."

✅Instead say : (again, there are multiple ways to do this) "She scrubbed the dirty floors using a mop, as if she were a servant. She sighed sadly."

Its main goal is to situate the current study within the body of literature and to provide context for the particular reader.

What to avoind in your research

❌    Don’t include your own examples or interpretations in your paper. You literally need to repeat the information given in the original text, but in a shorter frame and in your own words.

❌   Don’t insert any of your evaluations or judgments about the text. Your task is to summarize, not give a personal opinion.

❌   Don’t try to grasp all of the ideas contained in the original text in your essay. Focus only on the most important points.

❌    Don’t report on unnecessary details.

❌    Don’t forget to include transitions to signal when you move to a new idea within the same paragraph.

Steps to Write Research Gaps in your Research

Below are the steps which would help you to identify research gaps in your study and the method of writing research gaps in your research proposal, thesis or dissertation with the help of examples.

1 - Discuss some of the Previous Researches

You must first mention some of the earlier research in the literature that does not address the specific topic of the research before you can examine the gaps in the preceding literature. The contributions should be related to the already identified contradictions, gaps, and issues.

There have been various aspects of ___ that have been studied in the past, including (1) (cite two to three articles), (2) (cite two to three articles), and (3) (cite two to three articles).

2 - Identify Important Gaps

The
next step is for researchers to pinpoint any significant gaps, contradictions, or controversies in the literature. This helps to demonstrate the need for more investigation into the subject matter. This task may be completed in a timely manner.
However, in addition, this research (write your research topic) covers a number of unexplored features that recently have drawn research interest in other disciplines  (cite two to three relevant articles)
In
the perspective of _ , several of these unexplored seem significant and worthy of investigation. An investigation of these issues is important because _ . Additionally, the main subject of earlier empirical research has been _. On _ , very little research has been conducted.

3 - Write Concluding Statement

The researcher must also clearly express the objectives of the manuscript that he is writing as well as the contributions it makes to the body of knowledge. The statement that identifies gaps, contradictions, and/or arguments in the literature should flow logically into this statement.
In the previous research and literature, the researcher found four significant gaps.

First, the researcher found what appeared to be a theoretical hole in earlier studies on _.

ስለዚህ በአጠቃላይ ሲታይ በትምህርት ቤቶች አካባቢ በመምህራን አማካኝነት ተግባራዊ ጥናትና ምርምር ( Action Researc) በቀላሉ ማካሄድ ይችላል፡፡ ጠቀሜታውም እጅግ ከፍተኛ ነው፡፡ የዚህ ዓይነቱ ምርምር የተግባር ተኮር ጥናትና ምርምር /Applied  Research/ አንዱ አካል ሲሆን መሠረታዊ ዓላማውም መምህሩ የራሱን ሥራና ክንውን መመርመርና ጥንካሬዎችንና ደካማ ጐኖችን ለይቶ ማውጣትና የመማር ማስተሩን ሂደት ጤናማ ማድረግ ነው፡፡ ተግባራዊ ጥናትና ምርምር በተለይም በትምህርት ዘርፍ ልዩ ጠቀሜታ አለው፡፡ አንድ መምህር የራሱን ሥራ ለመገምገምና ለማሻሻል በማያቋርጥ የድርጊት ምርምር ውስጥ መሳተፍ ይኖርበታል፡፡ መሠረታዊ ትኩረቱም ችግሮችን በመፍታትና አሠራርን በማሻሻል ላይ ይሆናል፡፡

በተለይ በከፍተኛ ትምህርት ላይ መምህራን አሳሳይንመንቶችን ፣ ፕሮጀክቶችን ፣ የምርምር ስራዎችን እና የመሳሰሉትን ተማሪዎች በክላስ ውስጥ ፕረዘንት እንዲያደርጉ ይጠይቃሉ፡፡

ከትምህርት አለም ውጪም በተለያዮ የስራ ጉዳዮች ላይ ፕረዘንት እንድናደርግ ሊጠበቅብን ይችላል፡፡
ታዲያ በፕረዘንቴሽን ጊዜ የብዙዎች ችግር ፍርሀት ነው፡፡ ሰው ፊት ቆሞ የመናገር ፍርሀት፡፡
የፕረዘንቴሽን ፍርሀት የብዙ ሰዎች ችግር ነው፡፡ ጥናቶች እንደሚጠቁሙት እስከ 80 % የሚሆኑትን ሰዎች ጋር ያለ ችግር ነው፡፡ በእርግጥ ችግር ነው ተብሎም ሊነሳም አይችል ይሆናል፡፡ ምክንያቱም መምህራንን ጨምሮ የ public speaking ልምድ ያላቸው አርቲስቶች፣ ፓለቲከኞች፣ የሀይማኖት መሪዎች ሁሉ የሚጋሩት common ስሜት ስለሆነ ነው፡፡

ይህ የፕረዘንቴሽን (public speaking) ፍርሀት ጤናማ ስሜት ነው፡፡ የሁሉም ሰው የጋራ ሰሜትና እንዲያውም የራሱ ጥቅሞችም ያሉት ስሜት ነው፡፡ ችግር የሚሆነው ፍርሀቱ በጣም ከበዛና ቅጥ ካጣ ነው፡፡
የሚከተሉት መንገዶች የፕረዘንቴሽንን ፍርሀት ለመቀነስና ውጤታማ ፕረዘንቴሽን ለማድረግ ያግዛሉ፡፡

#1 . የፕረዘንቴሽን ፍርሀት ጤናማና common ስሜት እንደሆነ መረዳት፡፡
Literally ሁሉም ሰው ይፈራል፡፡ ልዮነቱ፡አንዳንዶች ማኔጅ ያደርጉታል አንዳንዶች አያደርጉትም፡፡
ይህ የፍርሀት ስሜት ሊያስደነግጠን ሳይሆን በደንብ እንድንዘጋጅ ሊያመላክተን ይገባል፡፡
ፍርሀት ጥቅም አለው፡፡ ይሄውም ባዮሎጂካሊ በሰውነታችን ውስጥ የሆርሞንን መጠን ከፍ በማድረግ የበለጠ ኢነርጂ እንዲኖረን ያደርጋል፡፡
#2 . ፕረዘንቴሽን ልምምድ (rehearsal )
ፕረዘንቴሽን ልምምድ ይፈልጋል፡፡ ፕረዘንት የምናደርገውን ነገር በደንብ ማወቃችንን፣ ቋንቋችንን፣ ድምፃችንን እንዲሁም ሰአት አጠቃቀማችንን የምናስተካክለው በልምምድ ኀው፡፡
ፕረዘንት የሚያደርግ ሰው ልክ እንደ መድረክ ተዋናይ ነው፡፡ ፕረዘንቴሽንም በራሱ በተወሰነ መንገድ ትወና ነው፡፡ በመሆኑም ማንም ተዋናይ በደንብ ሳይለማመድ መድረክ ላይ እንደማይወጣ ፕረዘንት የሚያደርግ ሰውም በበቂ ሁኔታ ልምምድ ማድረግ ይኖርበታል፡፡
በምንለማመድበት ጊዜ ጓደኞቻችን ፊት ሊሇን ይችላል ወይም ብቻችንን ቆመን ሰው ፊት እንዳለን በማሰብ መለማመድ ይቻላል፡፡

#3 . መረጋጋት፣ እራስን ማረጋጋት
#4 . በቂ አየር መውሰድ ፣ መተንፈስ
#5 ፕረዘንት የምናደርግበትን ቦታና መምህራኑን ቀድሞ ማወቅ፡፡ ይህም ሲባል ፕረዘንት የምናደርግበት ቦታ ቀደም ብለን በመሄድ ማየትና የምንቆምበትን ቦታ ስሜቱን መረዳት ነው፡፡
#6 . አለባበስን ማስተካከል፡፡ ጥሩ አለባበስ በራስ መተማመንን ይጨምራል፡፡
#7 . ፕረዘንት የማድረግ ፍላጎትን ማዳበር፣ ይህም ሲባል ፕረዘንቴሽንን እንደ ግዴታ ሳይሆን የሰራነውን ነገር ለሰዎች እንደምናሳይበት እንደ ጥሩ አጋጣሚ መውሰድ፡፡
#8 . በቂ አረፍት ወስዶ መገኘት
#9 . ቀደም ብሎ መገኘት (አለማርፈድ)
#10 . ከመጀመሪያው ውጤታማ ስራ መስራት፡፡ ምክንያቱም የአንዳንዶች የፍርሀት ምንጭ በቂ ስራ ካለመስራትና ካለመዘጋጀት ነው፡፡

Kendall's tau-b (τb) correlation coefficient (Kendall's tau-b, for short) is a nonparametric measure of the strength and direction of association that exists between two variables measured on at least an ordinal scale. It is considered a nonparametric alternative to the Pearson’s product-moment correlation when your data has failed one or more of the assumptions of this test. It is also considered an alternative to the nonparametric spearman correlation  (especially when you have a small sample size with many tied ranks).

Example: A researcher conducted a simple study where they presented participants with the statement: "Tax is too high in this country", and asked them how much they agreed with this statement. They had four options how to respond: "Strongly Disagree", "Disagree", "Agree" or "Strongly Agree". These ordered responses were the categories of the dependent variable, tax_too_high. The researcher also asked participants to state whether they had a "low", "middle" or "high" income, where each of these categories had specified income ranges (e.g., a low income was any income under £18,000 per annum). The income level of participants was recorded in the variable, income. Follow the procedure below to run the test on SPSS.

Interpreting Output:

Correlation Table: The Correlations table presents Kendall's tau-b correlation, its significance value and the sample size that the calculation was based on. In this example, we can see that Kendall's tau-b correlation coefficient, τb, is 0.535, and that this is statistically significant (p = 0.003).
