“I’ve always liked the visas, I have always been in favor of the visas. That’s why we have them,” Trump said by phone, referring to the H-1b program which permits companies to hire foreign workers in specialty occupations.

"The irony of Vivek's post is that his wrong analysis of how American culture is broken illustrates in itself how American culture is broken.

I mean, how out-of-touch must one be to think people will embrace a vision where childhood must be optimized for corporate success, with less sleepovers, hanging out and fun (what he calls "mediocrity") in favor of shareholder-value-maximizing "excellence"?

Especially when addressing Americans who have seen their lives destroyed en-masse by the same corporate priorities that produced this vision of "excellence". The average American family isn't choosing between math tutoring and sleepovers - they're choosing between paying for basic necessities while both parents work multiple jobs.

His examples unwittingly prove the opposite of his point: shows that he describes as corrupting American culture (Friends, Boy Meets World, Family Matters, etc.) celebrate friendship, family, and community values - exactly what the US has lost in their rush to optimize everything for economic output and create an hyperindividualistic and consumerist society. That's probably why they're popular: they reflect a lost world that people aspire to go back to.

He mentions China as the motivating factor here, because apparently the solution to avoid having their "asses handed to us by China" is more capitalism, treating people even more like cogs who must compete in "the global market for technical talent."

That doesn't only betray a misunderstanding of what Americans want but also of China. China themselves largely hate the extreme competitiveness of their system: the people hate it and the government hates it, they all want to move away from it (hence the government banning the tutoring industry). And in any case this isn't what made China rise - China rose with a largely uneducated population, as mass university-level education is a very recent phenomenon there.

No, I'm convinced that China, at a very fundamental level, rose so unprecedentedly fast for the very reason that it is one of the very few countries in the world which culture wasn't completely denaturalized by the sort of neoliberal dystopia that Vivek seems to idealize. In China's socialist system the market doesn't trump all, individualism doesn't reign supreme and, at a broader level, they still stay faithful to many of the ancestral values that have sustained their civilization for thousands of years. That's the culture that underpins it all and makes it work, not the fact that Chinese kids do too much homework.

All in all, this is what makes this debate so revealing: Vivek, in trying to diagnose America's problems, has instead unwittingly illustrated them. The belief that every human activity must be justified by its contribution to GDP, that collective bonds are mere distractions from the pursuit of "excellence," and that the solution to the problems created by predatory capitalism is, somehow, more predatory capitalism."

The Turkish-backed SNA was expected to launch an offensive on Ain-al-Arab (Kobani) and expel Kurdish forces from the areas bordering Turkey in between SNA’s recent conquests in northern Syria and the buffer zone took by Turkey in 2019 during operation Peace Spring which resulted in the fall of Tell Abyad, Ras al-Ayn and a number of other smaller towns and villages.

It is too early to say if the SDF will try to hold on to these areas or if they were meant to disrupt offensive preparations by the SNA.

The people who claimed this election was some sort of beginning of The Reform Revolution or whatever just had their entire timeline of revolution twisted.

Trump isn't capable of reform; he's the guy who FINALLY shows people that America cannot be reformed without blood.

No bro, DOGE isn't about to save America from bankruptcy. Matt Gaetz isn't going to purge the DoJ. Trump won't win against the entrenched political class in the senate.

Trump is the guy who will *deliver* unto you bankruptcy and hyperinflation. That's his historical mission.

It's going to be Trump that teaches you to stop worrying and embrace the collapse of the Empire. It'll be Trump that shows you that actually, economic depression and hyperinflation is just another Tuesday, once you get used to it. He's the most qualified guy alive for that role.

Is this a blackpill? I mean, maybe. If you hoped that you wouldn't have to go through with your societal root canal, it is the blackest of all blackpills that Trump is the dentist who will drill that rotten tooth, and without anaesthesia.

📱 📝: Elon Musk is afraid.

Tesla’s profitability is questionable due to the amount of subsidies it receives as part of the US’ green agenda. Add to it that a significant portion of Tesla’s industrial output is in China, meaning under constant threat of suddenly finding itself seized by Beijing, is a bad situation for Musk.

Add to it competition from China’s own EV makers, who can build more cars, faster and cheaper, with Chinese labourers and resources, Musk’s situation becomes even bleaker as Tesla is Musk’s main cashcow.

Reshoring factories from China to the US or other, friendlier countries like Germany, would add a layer of security for Musk’s wealth. But this process is long and very costly.

So Musk is trying manipulate the Trump administration into giving him the millions of Indians he wants to staff his future American factories with in an attempt to safeguard his wealth and potentially increase it.

It was never about top-talent and skills. It always was about money and profit.

A brief summary of the MAGA Civil War:

On December 22, Trump appointed Sriram Krishnan as a senior adviser on artificial intelligence. Sriram Krishnan is a naturalized citizen who initially came to the United States from India on a work visa that he obtained through Microsoft.

Previously, Krishnan worked as a general partner at the venture capital firm Andreessen-Horowitz and served as its ambassador to Twitter after Musk's acquisition, which was partially financed by Marc Andreessen.

Krishnan is the latest Trump appointee drawn from a group of Silicon Valley venture capitalists who call themselves "Little Tech," mostly in the orbit of Elon Musk and Peter Thiel.

This appointment drew widespread criticism from pro-Trump influencers over previous statements by Krishnan in support of increasing the cap on greencards.

The "Little Tech" or "Tech Bro" faction, including Elon Musk, Vivek Ramaswamy, David Sacks, and Sean Maguire, rallied to Krishnan's defense on X, voicing support for high-skilled legal immigration and accusing his detractors of being motivated by racism.

Yesterday and today, the brand accounts "@ConservativeOGs" and "@ProjectGroyp" were stripped of their verification and features, subsequently their affiliate accounts lost their verification and features like increased character limit.

Earlier today, many of the affiliate accounts under the brand "@ProjectGroyp," including Dalton Clodfelter, Tyler Russell, Ray, ClassicsGroyp, KaizerRev, Pinesap, and Bookcat, were permanently suspended.

At the same time that the suspensions occurred, Elon posted that "reply spammers" were being nuked as he composed the post. @ProjectGroyp received an email from X saying that the account was unverified for engaging in platform manipulation.

Earlier tonight, Elon posted that, being an H-1B immigrant himself, he would "go to war" against anyone who opposes the H-1B program.

This is an extremely disturbing and unfortunate development.
