🇺🇸Spencer Hakimian: Have a very good friend in supply chain logistics in mainland China that just told me they already started getting around these tariffs by shipping into Vietnam first and then into the U.S.

The only thing that tariffs do is make middle guy countries like Vietnam and Mexico get a free 10% profit in the middle (that comes out of American consumers pockets).

🇺🇸The Commander of U.S. Indo-Pacific Command (INDOPACOM), Admiral Samuel J. Paparo revealed today in front of the Senate Armed Services Committee that an entire U.S. Army “Patriot” Missile Battalion, consisting of 4-6 MIM-104 “Patriot” Surface-to-Air Missile Batteries, was recently transferred from his area-of-responsibility to U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM).

Admiral Paparo further revealed that the transfer, which appears to be wrapping up according to flight trackers, required approximately 73 C-17 Globemaster III flights from Asia to the Middle East.

🇺🇸 Trump acknowledged he could cause a recession, but just didn’t want a depression, according to WSJ

President Donald Trump wanted to avoid sending the economy into a depression through his contentious plan for tariffs, according to The Wall Street Journal.

Trump privately said he was aware that his broad and steep plan for levies unveiled last week could tip the economy into a recession, but he didn’t want a depression, according to a Wednesday night report from the paper, citing people familiar with the conversations.

Trump also told advisors that he was willing to accept “pain” over the policy, a person who spoke with him on Monday told the Journal.

A depression is considered by economists to take place when a recession becomes more severe and entails higher unemployment and a more prolonged downturn.

US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth on Wednesday floated the idea of US troops returning to Panama to “secure” its strategically vital canal, a suggestion that would face fierce local opposition.

During a visit to Panama, Hegseth suggested that “by invitation” the United States could “revive” military bases or naval air stations and rotate deployments of US troops to an isthmus the United States invaded 35 years ago.

Migrations from other parties – esp. CDU/CSU – to AfD are sticky. For a time last year, the novel Bündnis Sahra Wagenknecht (BSW) pulled some AfD voters away, but many of those have returned, and others have come too. This is not a temporary blip.

German politics are different now, and they will stay different whatever happens – whether the AfD are banned or not, however long the firewall persists. (IMHO ban proceedings become more likely but their success less likely, the stronger AfD get).
