🇺🇸 The 30-year Treasury yield is testing the ceiling for bonds again:
The US 30-year Treasury yield is back up to 4.96%, knocking on the 5% threshold for the 3rd time since 2023.
Every previous test of this level has been followed by a sharp pullback in global equities, and a sustained break above 5% would push yields into a trading range not seen in nearly 2 decades.
At 5%, government bonds become attractive enough to pull capital away from stocks, while simultaneously raising borrowing costs for mortgages, credit cards, and corporate loans, squeezing consumers and businesses alike.
This comes as traders are now pricing in the possibility of a Fed rate hike in 2027, driven by fears that the Iran war oil shock could reignite inflation and force the Fed's hand.
A sustained break above 5% would be the worst possible outcome for global stocks.

🇺🇸⚔️🇮🇷 The U.S. has deployed the MV Ocean Spec Ops Command (SOC) mothership to Diego Garcia
Satellite image from Sentinel 2 on May 7th reveals a highly significant arrival at NSF Diego Garcia
🔸Likely spot of Spec Ops Command (SOC) mothership, MV Ocean Trader, safely anchored inside the atoll.
🔸USNS Pililaau & an Arleigh Burke also in the lagoon.
My last definitive spot was way back in Nov 2025 off the coast of Puerto Rico. I had a potential sighting on Apr 13 2026 in the Med approaching the Suez Canal. This spot in the Indian Ocean strongly validates that earlier track.
When the Ocean Trader slides into theatre—much like what we saw with previous posturing around Venezuela—more complex operations tend to follow.
Does her arrival indicate SOCOM elements are actively gearing up for the next phase?

🗳 🇺🇸 📈 Crystal Ball 2026 House Ratings After Virginia Redistricting got struck down

🗳 🇺🇸 ⚖️ As furious redistricting battles continue, Republicans plan to add 14 seats following last week's Supreme Court ruling
California, Missouri, North Carolina, Ohio and Texas have already passed new congressional maps and a lawsuits led by a voting rights groups in Utah also resulted in a new congressional map.
Redistricting usually takes place every ten years following the national census, in order to accommodate population changes. The only state which was originally due to redistrict in 2026 had been Ohio.
“We’ve gone from redistricting every ten years to what feels like every five minutes,” said David Wasserman, an elections analyst for the Cook Political Report, a nonpartisan newsletter. “We’re in an era of manic redistricting. And if one party doesn’t seize the opportunity, the other party will.”
The first move was made by Texas last year, after President Trump called on the state’s Republicans, to redraw their voting maps to gain a Republican edge in the 2026 midterms. The effort resulted in up to five additional US House seats for Republicans in Lone Star State.

🇺🇸❌🇮🇷- US CENTCOM has released a statement and footage of the disabling of 2 Iranian oil tankers, the M/T Sea Star III and M/T Sevda:
U.S. forces disabled M/T Sea Star III and M/T Sevda, May 8, prior to both vessels entering an Iranian port on the Gulf of Oman in violation of the ongoing U.S. blockade.Читать полностью…
U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) enforced blockade measures against two Iranian-flagged unladen oil tankers attempting to pull into an Iranian port on the Gulf of Oman. A U.S. Navy F/A-18 Super Hornet from USS George H.W. Bush (CVN 77) disabled both tankers after firing precision munitions into their smokestacks, preventing the non-compliant ships from entering Iran.
U.S. forces also disabled Iranian-flagged M/T Hasna, May 6, as it attempted to sail to an Iranian port in the Gulf of Oman. An F/A-18 Super Hornet from USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72) disabled the unladen oil tanker's rudder by firing several rounds from a 20mm cannon gun.
All three vessels are no longer transiting to Iran.
"U.S. forces in the Middle East remain committed to full enforcement of the blockade of vessels entering or leaving Iran," said Adm. Brad Cooper, CENTCOM commander. "Our highly trained men and women in uniform are doing incredible work."
Multiple commercial vessels have been disabled and more than 50 have been redirected by CENTCOM forces to ensure compliance.
🇮🇷🤝🇨🇳 How Iran is circumventing the U.S. blockade by train
Iran is ramping up trade with China via rail in a bid to blunt the impact of a US blockade of its ports and adapt to pressure designed to strangle its economy.
The number of cargo trains going from Xi’an in central China to the Iranian capital Tehran has risen from around one per week before the conflict to one every three or four days since the start of blockade on April 13, according to people with knowledge of the shipments.
Freight costs have surged, with quotes for shipping a standard 40-foot container along the route as high as $7,000 this week, roughly 40% more than typical levels, the people said, speaking on condition of anonymity as they aren’t authorized to speak with the media.
The route, which runs through Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan can only go a small way toward making up for the US blockade.
For now the trade is mostly one-way, with containers headed for Iran with industrial and consumer goods, including automotive parts, generators and electronics, the people said. Iranian officials have said they are considering using rail routes to export products like petrochemicals and fuel at some stage.
“Previously these trains never ran at all in some weeks; now they’re fully booked for May,” said Altan Dursun, managing director of Turkey-based Silkroad-Avrasya Multimodal Logistics, a rail-freight booking agency that specializes in trade with China.
Plans are underway to add further capacity in June, Dursun added. Each train from Xi’an carries around 50 standard 40-foot containers, he said, while a long-haul container ship can hold thousands.
The China route is one node in a broader years-long effort by Tehran to expand logistics corridors with allies and insulate itself from western pressure.
In October, Iran started exporting diesel by train, for the first time, to Afghanistan using the 225 kilometer (140 mile) Khaf-Herat rail line that connects Iran’s northeastern Khorasan-e Razavi province to Herat, state media reported.
In February last year, China inaugurated a direct freight train route to Hairatan in northern Afghanistan, Xinhua reported, and months later Uzbekistan and Afghanistan announced plans to extend the rail line to Herat, which is about 130 kilometers from the Iranian border.
Iran can transfer 40% of its usual maritime trade to land routes, the head of the national shipping association’s container committee, Kambiz Etemadi, said last week, according to the semi-official Fars news agency.

🥩 Beef and veal prices climbed 12.1% from March 2025 to March 2026, ranking as the fifth-largest contributor to US food inflation behind only instant coffee, tomatoes, roasted coffee, and lettuce.
And the 12.1% retail jump actually understates the pressure.
Wholesale beef prices ran 19.7% higher year-over-year in March 2026, while farm-level cattle prices were up 16.2%, meaning more inflation is still working its way down the supply chain to grocery shelves.
The root cause is a supply backdrop that's the tightest in three generations:
U.S. cattle inventory stood at 86.2 million head as of January 2026, its smallest size in 75 years.
The beef cow breeding herd is down to 27.6 million heads, the smallest since the early 1960s.
The average retail price of a pound of ground beef is near $6.70, a record high in BLS data going back to 1984.

🇬🇧⚡️- Council seats called at 1:35am local time.
Reform UK: 37 (+37)
Labour: 6 (-34)
Libdems: 5 (-2)
Greens: 4 (+3)
Conservatives: 2 (-3)
Independent: 2 (=)
Still extremely early in the counting process as only 5/136 councils have been declared alongside only 56/4992 local seats.
However media figures, party activists in Labour, Reform, and the Tories, agree that tonight is going to be the largest defeat for a ruling party since the 90s in local elections.
🏴The Restore Britain team have consulted with hundreds of members all over the country about how we should approach the May elections, considering we have only been officially registered as a political party for twelve days. The elections take place in 36 days
I am going to be entirely honest with you all, unusual for a politician I understand - none of the usual spin or twisting
We are simply not ready to field thousands of qualified candidates - all over England, with Wales and Scotland included
We could. We have had the offers and we certainly have the ability to campaign
But that would be wrong
I am not going to present to the British people thousands of candidates who have not been properly vetted, interviewed or considered. That would be irresponsible and rash. We’ve seen what happens when new parties do that, and the voters get let down
Our priority has been on establishing local branches, we have spoken to hundreds and hundreds of amazing volunteers. Local infrastructure is forming all over Britain. Restore Britain’s small team have done in weeks what it has taken other parties years to achieve. It has been remarkable, and I want to personally thank them
Dozens of local branch meetings have taken place already, with more happening every day. If you haven’t already heard about a local event, you will soon. Please be patient and understand the scale of the logistical task our team are dealing with - almost 20,000 people have volunteered to actively help in every corner of Britain. A national billboard campaign has been running, with hundreds of thousands of leaflets already delivered. 124,000 members. More than the Tories and double the Lib Dems, polling at 8% nationally
It is all history in the making
But to properly process thousands of candidates on top of that is not logistically possible in such a short period of time, and I do not want to be in a position where we have individuals elected who do not understand the important responsibilities of local government
Paper candidates. Those with questionable histories. Opportunist careerists. Individuals who have no interest in working hard. Some even simply after the money. I do not want to present them to the British people. Look at Reform’s track record following its desperation to stand candidates - promising tax cuts, then hiking people’s council tax bills. A staggering 9% in one Reform council. 9%. Families cannot afford it. It is morally wrong, and I want no repeat of it
Let’s learn from their mistakes, not our own
We are going to do this right. Where we stand, we will aim to win. Where we win, we will properly represent those residents. We will put forward the right people, with the right ideas, and the right principles
In Great Yarmouth, my constituency, we have the infrastructure to do that. We have been working on it for many months. We are prepared
There are ten elections in Great Yarmouth - nine county council seats, and one borough council by-election. Those are the only elections we will be contesting in May
The plan is straightforward
Our aim is to sweep away the rotten political establishment
Decimate the Tories, Reform and Labour in Great Yarmouth
Show the rest of the country that it can be done. Set an example. Send a message
Then take that into the rest of 2026, and the elections in 2027 where we will aim to stand qualified candidates in every seat across Britain
Work has already started on this - potential candidates are already being contacted
To those asking how to vote in their own local election - my advice is this
Examine the options. Look at who has taken the care to explore real local issues that impact your community. Support who you think is best to deliver for your family, your road, your village, your town
Next year, that option will be Restore Britain. But in this one set of elections, we are taking a targeted and concentrated approach
Because restoring Britain starts in Great Yarmouth, then we take it national
That’s the plan
I hope you will help us deliver that
The British government pays in excess of £4 billion annually to house migrants in 36,000 beds (generally hotels).
If the British state can pay for 40,000 beds for migrant arrivals, it can afford to pay for 40,000 beds for deportees. Currently, 83% of immigrants deported (or released, rather unfortunately), within 2 months, the UK could facilitate rapid deportations.
Assuming for the sake of debate, they could take longer, say 3 months on average, the UK could use enforced deportation to remove 160,000 illegal migrants per year. With an increase back to norms of voluntary returns, we could see up to 200,000 migrants departing annually.
Under this policy environment, the illegal migrant population would be reduced to near-zero within 7 years.
