President-elect Donald Trump threatened on Saturday that the U.S. would reassume control of the Panama Canal if it felt that Panama wasn’t honoring the terms of a 1977 treaty regarding the waterway’s legal status.

In two lengthy Truth Social posts Saturday evening, Trump accused Panama of charging U.S. vessels exorbitant rates to pass through the critical waterway. He also claimed that the treaties enabling Panama to take control of the canal in the first place also allow for the U.S. to take it back.

“If the principles, both moral and legal, of this magnanimous gesture of giving are not followed, then we will demand that the Panama Canal be returned to us, in full, and without question,” Trump wrote.

🇷🇴 A whistleblower in the Romanian government revealed that the TikTok ads cited by the Romanian president as “proof” of Russian meddling were actually paid for by National Liberal Party (PNL) of whom the Romanian president is a member of!

The whistleblower revealed that PNL, through a marketing firm, paid 130 influencers to promote certain hashtags on TikTok and use a number of catchphrases in the clips. They promoted a number of qualities which the “perfect” president should have without naming the candidate directly but did answer “Călin Georgescu” to other users in the comments section of the clips.

The investigators who compiled this story verified the whistleblower’s testimony with the marketing firm’s own statements which acknowledged that PNL paid them for the campaign but said the influencers breached their contracts and didn’t follow the guidelines they were given and promoted Călin Georgescu by their own volition.

This turned out to not be true as the contracts were leaked and investigators found out that the marketing firm instructed the TikTok influencers to deliberately avoid the app’s safeguards against misleading political advertising which was later used as a justification by Romanian authorities to cancel the presidential elections blaming Russia and TikTok.

📝Romanian Anon: PNL was afraid of a scenario in which they had to pick between a nationalist and a socialist.

Last October, the Constitutional Court, who was stacked with politically named judges by the social-democrats (PSD) kicked out of the election a nationalist candidate for being anti-NATO.

This reduced the number of nationalist candidates on the ballot box from 3 to 2 with only George Simion, the biggest one and Călin Georgescu remaining on the ballot. Georgescu was unknown at the time, so George Simion was viewed as the only nationalist option by many and rallied additional votes. Polls showed he would face off with the PSD’s Marcel Ciolacu in the 2nd round.

To take revenge on the social democrats, PNL inflated Călin Georgescu to take away votes from George Simion. The plan worked, too well in fact, and backfired as both PNL and PSD missed the 2nd round. Without their candidates in the 2nd round, they had nothing left to lose and cancelled the elections blaming Russia and TikTok, something which the EU, the US and mainstream medias were more than happy to accept as an explanation.

Trump says any shutdown ‘is a Biden problem to solve’

President-elect Donald Trump worked Friday morning to foist the blame for any potential government shutdown onto the current White House, insisting that the funding fight on Capitol Hill “is a Biden problem to solve.”

Lawmakers had seemed on track earlier this week to fund the government with time to spare, settling on a bipartisan stopgap spending bill, known as a continuing resolution or CR, that would extend government spending into March and included a lot of add-ons to appease Democrats and others. But that plan quickly drew the ire of Trump ally Elon Musk, followed by the president-elect and Vice President-elect JD Vance, tanking that bill. Still, with government funding set to run out at midnight on Friday, Trump insisted that it is President Joe Biden who should be held responsible for any shutdown. “If there is going to be a shutdown of government, let it begin now, under the Biden Administration, not after January 20th, under ‘TRUMP,’” the president-elect wrote on Truth Social. “This is a Biden problem to solve, but if Republicans can help solve it, they will!”

Of particular interest to Trump amid the ongoing spending negotiations is an increase, or outright removal, of the government’s debt limit. The president-elect has insisted that any funding package include such a provision, an especially tough pill to swallow for conservatives who have for years forced painful debt limit fights on Capitol Hill.
