🇵🇸/🇮🇱The Israeli army recently completed the construction of a 1-kilometer-deep buffer zone along the Gaza Strip’s border with the occupied territories. The buffer zone covers an area of 58 km2, accounting for 16 percent of the total Gaza Strip area.
Additionally, in the Netzarim axis, Israeli army has occupied 49 km2 (13.5% of Gaza), destroying all residential buildings. In the Philadelphi axis, Israeli army has occupied 12 km2 (3% of Gaza), destroying at least 6,932 buildings to maintain a permanent presence.
Consequently, approximately 32.5 percent of the Gaza Strip is currently destroyed and occupied by the Israeli military. These areas are permanently occupied by Israeli forces, with troops stationed there constantly.

— 🇬🇧/🇮🇱/🇵🇸 NEW: A recently published study by prestigious British medical journal 'The Lancet' suggests vastly more civilian deaths from Israeli airstrikes in Gaza than initially estimated by Gaza's Health Ministry
The study, which was conducted by using a statistical analysis of hospital data, obituaries on social media, and an online enquiry, indicates that approximately 64,260 Palestinians were killed by Israel in Gaza during just the first nine months of the war (October 2023 – July 2024).
This is a staggering 41% more fatalities than the official number published for the same time period by Gaza's Health Ministry.
The study also indicates that at least 59% of the fatalities from Israeli airstrikes consist of women, children, and and people older than 65. The researchers only looked at deaths directly resulting from Israeli bombardments, not indirect casualties as a result of lack of food, medicine or clean drinking water.
Last October, a large group of American and other Western doctors that worked in Gaza's health sector already wrote an open letter to the international community, stating that they estimate the real death toll to be much higher than the official number, and that they estimate it to be well above 100,000 fatalities.

🇺🇸📱🇪🇺 After Elon Musk and X (Twitter), Meta (Facebook) CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, is lobbying American president, Donald Trump, to sanction the EU for forcing Facebook and Instagram to censor posts in the EU!
"I think it's a strategic advantage for the United States that we have a lot of the strongest companies in the world, and I think it should be part of the U.S. strategy going forward to defend that," Zuckerberg said during an appearance on the Joe Rogan Experience podcast.
"If some other country was screwing with another industry that we cared about, the U.S. government would probably find some way to put pressure on them, but I think what happened here is actually the complete opposite," he said. "The U.S. government led the kind of attack against the companies, which then just made it so the EU is basically in all these other places, just free to just go to town on all the American companies and do whatever you want."

🇱🇾🇳🇪 Libya expels 600 Nigeriens in ‘dangerous and traumatising’ desert journey
More than 600 people have been forcibly deported from Libya on a “dangerous and traumatising” journey across the Sahara, in what is thought to be one of the largest expulsions from the north African country to date.
The International Organisation for Migration (IOM) confirmed 613 people, all Nigerien nationals, arrived in the desert town of Dirkou in Niger last weekend in a convoy of trucks. They were among a large number of migrant workers rounded up by the authorities in Libya over the past month.
David Yambio, spokesperson for the nonprofit organisation Refugees in Libya, said: “This is Europe’s border policy laid bare, outsourcing mass expulsion and death to Libya, where the desert becomes a graveyard.

NEW BOOK — The Evening The Times Newspaper Turned Into Jane Eyre
For our first release under the Exeter House Publishing imprint, we present a volume of poetry by one of the biggest figures in our scene, writing under a nom de plume, Lucius Falkland.
https://www.imperiumpress.org/shop/the-evening-the-times-newspaper-turned-into-jane-eyre/
Lucius Falkland’s poems chart an affair between two traditionalists who deeply cherish their dying England. Adrift in a sea of conformity, each find their ontological double; their very selves embodied in another. Devoted and plagued with guilt, this volume of poetry follows their life-changing relationship, exploring adultery, heresy, depression, mid-life crisis and the power of shared delusion when the world tells two people that they are “different.”
Falkland’s poems reveal a couple torn between their sacred commitments and their overwhelming feelings for each other, caught between the banal, materialistic realities of life in modernity, and their fantasy of being eternally together in an unchanging, rural England.

🇺🇦🤕🇰🇵🔫 — 🇺🇦 President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky:
"Our soldiers captured troops from North Korea in Kurshchyna. These are two soldiers who, although wounded, survived, were taken to Kyiv, and are communicating with SBU investigators.
This task was not easy: usually the Russians and other military personnel from North Korea finish off their wounded and do everything to ensure that there is no evidence of the participation of another state — North Korea — in the war against Ukraine.
I am grateful to our soldiers of tactical group No. 84 of the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and our paratroopers who captured these two people.
As with all prisoners, these two soldiers from North Korea are being given the necessary medical care.
He instructed the Security Service of Ukraine to provide journalists with access to these prisoners. The world needs to know what's going on."

🛳 The newly sanctioned tanker fleet
📎 ed_fin
🛳 The US sanctioned 183 ships today, alongside oil traders/charterers and marine insurers. Here's some numbers that will help you make sense of it all:
The success of this sweeping action will in part be determined by China and India, and whether authorities continue to allow sanctioned tankers to enter their ports, amid rising pressure on the biggest buyers, refineries in China, India and Türkiye, and the banks that finance them.
After short periods of inactivity most of the Russia-trading tankers designated by EU and UK regulators over 2024 continued to trade uninterrupted.
But earlier this week, Shandong’s port authority said it was banning services for US-sanctioned vessels, viewed as a gamechanger for the province, where privately run refineries are main buyers of sanctioned oil.
* Of the 155 tankers blacklisted by the Office of Foreign Assets Control today, 68 are part of the so-called dark fleet of elderly, anonymously owned ships, and solely deployed in lifting sanctioned oil from Russia. (most of the others are with Russia government-controlled Sovcomflot)
* With today’s action, 35% of the 669 dark fleet tankers shipping Russian, Venezuelan and Iranian oil are now sanctioned by either the US, UK or EU, or in some cases multiple jurisdictions.
* About 40%-50% of tonnage used to ship Russian crude is now blacklisted.
* Sixty of the 155 tankers named today by Ofac were flagged with Panama and will likely leave that country’s registry within two weeks, under laws that changed in August to fast-track sanctioned tonnage removal.
* Thirty-two tankers were flagged with the UK-based Barbados registry. Barbados entered the Russian market in 2024 taking on ships kicked out by other registries after they were sanctioned, or those owned by Sovcomflot. (Barbados said back in November they'll de-flag UK-sanctioned tonnage but not yet said about US sanctions)
* Some 15% of the dark fleet are now flying false or unknown flags, the second-largest flag category after Panama, and that number is going to jump dramatically
* Following diplomatic pressure by Western countries on flags including Barbados, Gabon, Cook Islands and Cameroon to discontinue providing services to sanctioned ships, the number flying false flags by using fake registries or continuing to fraudulently broadcast under their prior registry jumped in the last half of 2024.
