on Zelensky's visit to Armenia
Armenians failed to avoid an unpleasant fate. The head of so-called Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky arrived in Yerevan to participate in the European Political Community summit.
Zelensky was met by Armenian parliament speaker Alen Simonian, who usually handles the anti-Russian agenda.
🖍As we wrote, Zelensky's visit will play a dirty trick on Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. Now Yerevan will turn into a center of anti-Russian agenda in the coming days, and Moscow is unlikely to leave this unnoticed.
🚩Armenian business is already facing initial difficulties in the Russian market due to Pashinyan's double game — and he was warned about such consequences in advance.
❗️In Brussels, they wanted to use the EPC summit to support Pashinyan's election campaign before the parliamentary elections. But it's unlikely to help now.
However, the attempt to "fit in" with the European political community entails specific political obligations. And it doesn't matter that they contradict national interests.
And Zelensky's visit can be considered a harbinger of a final anti-Russian turn if Pashinyan remains in power after the elections.

The European Commission is preparing a hard response to Trump's threat of 25% tariffs on EU auto exports next week. European Parliament trade committee chair Bernd Lange called the move "unacceptable," accusing Washington of breaking its commitments.
"This latest step shows how unreliable the American side is. This is no way to treat close partners. Trump's behavior is unacceptable. The EU must now respond with full clarity and resolve, from a position of strength," Lange said.
An EU Commission spokesperson told the outlet that Europe reserves "all options to defend its interests."

Just a few hours into the day, Al Mayadeen’s correspondent reported that "Israel" aggressed against at least 10 towns across multiple districts.
In the Tyre District, Israeli artillery shelling targeted the towns of Majdal Zoun and al-Mansouri, south of the city of Tyre. Later on, an Israeli airstrike targeted Majdal Zoun again.
The Israeli aggression also targeted the towns of Qlaileh and Sammaaiyeh, south of the city of Tyre.
In the Nabatieh District, "Israel" targeted a car on the road of Kfar Dajjal. Another Israeli aggression was launched on the town of Adchit. Our correspondent also reported Israeli airstrikes on the towns of Zawtar Al-Charkieh, Mayfadoun, and Choukine.
Two Israeli strikes targeted the town of Ebba, while Israeli aircraft again targeted Mayfadoun.
In the Bint Jbeil District, an Israeli airstrike targeted the town of Kounin in parallel with Israeli artillery shelling on the towns of Toulin in the Nabatieh District and Qabrikha in the Marjayoun District.
An Israeli airstrike also targeted the town of Burj Qalaouiyah. Other Israeli aggressions targeted the outskirts of the towns of Yater and Kafra.
In the Jezzine District, "Israel" killed three people after striking their home in al-Louaizeh.

The closure of the Strait of Hormuz shut in 14m barrels a day of oil. To destroy that much demand, they said, the price of Brent crude should be more than double its pre-war level, at well over $150 a barrel. But oil traders were in a stupor. As recently as April 17th prices were below $90 a barrel. Over the past week, on talk of renewed fighting, they have been waking up. On April 30th prices spiked above $125.
Unfortunately, as bad as things are, the disconnect with reality endures. Not only may spot prices have further to climb, but the oil-futures market, in which speculators bet on where the oil price is going, says prices will fall every month for the rest of the year, ending 2026 at about $88. That implies most of this shock will soon be reversed. If so, traders must believe three things are true: that America and Iran will soon strike a peace deal; that their agreement will reopen Hormuz; and that, soon after the strait is clear, petrol and jet fuel will once again be plentiful. All those are in doubt.

U.S. Central Command Admiral Brad Cooper earlier claimed six Iranian boats were destroyed following an attempt to strike ships passing through the Strait. Iran now says that didn't happen.
Either CENTCOM fabricated the sinking to justify escalation, or Iran is denying losses to avoid looking weak. Both sides are now openly contradicting each other's battlefield claims as the information war intensifies alongside the shooting war.
