🇺🇦💬 The Speaker for the Ukrainian MFA Tikhiy made a long and pretty cope-y post about the talks with the US yesterday

The Jeddah negotiations were among the most fascinating I have ever attended. They were a masterclass in the art of diplomacy, strategic thinking, the search for tailored solutions, the delicate balance of flexibility and firmness, and the ability to make tactical moves toward a long-term goal. All of this was demonstrated yesterday by the Ukrainian delegation, led primarily by the President of Ukraine, who remotely guided their actions.

Of course, many details will only be revealed years from now. But I can share a few nuances that won’t hurt to discuss.

First, the duration. The negotiations lasted over eight hours in total—almost uninterrupted, except for lunch, during which work continued informally. I can only say this about the impression such length leaves: historians often underestimate the role of human exhaustion in shaping historical decisions. It’s in those final hours, when fatigue sets in, that breakthroughs from deadlocks and difficult compromises suddenly become possible. In short, the mountain is conquered by those who can push through the last mile and a half on sheer willpower and character—while keeping emotions in check. In the days leading up to the meetings, this was a key task, and I believe we managed it well overall.

Second, the emotional and informational backdrop of the meeting was crucial. It defined the boundaries of compromise and influenced negotiating positions. The event was targeted by hundreds of TV cameras from around the world, surrounded by a thick cloud of "reliable sources." The night before, the information space was flooded with articles from unnamed insiders—a form of anonymous communication among key players. These ranged from setting expectations and attempting to influence the process to random remarks and interpretations.

This is why the presence of media on-site and professional engagement with them were so important. I am grateful to the Ukrainian journalists who made it to Jeddah—Olena Cherniyakova and Maksym Hlopotov from We Are Ukraine, and Valeriy Pashko from Social. Thanks to them, you received timely updates on the progress of the negotiations, and we were able to communicate directly with the Ukrainian audience, bypassing international filters. Despite a few minor hiccups (those who know, know), I think we succeeded.

I would also like to personally thank my colleague, U.S. State Department Spokesperson Tammy Bruce, and her wonderful team. We worked side by side in a professional and friendly atmosphere throughout the day.

Third, the personal role of the negotiators was immensely important. The Ukrainian delegation included both diplomatic and military representatives, all of whom performed with the utmost professionalism, principle, and wisdom. I recall one of the most challenging moments when Minister Andriy Sybiha glanced at me with a look that said, "Well, well," but also conveyed calm assurance that "everything will be fine." In the final stages of drafting the joint statement, which took several hours, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy played a pivotal role. He guided the delegation with unwavering resolve on key principles and wise flexibility on other points, which ultimately led to a positive outcome.

I won’t delve into the specifics of the joint statement or the decisions reached—you’ll see and read about those in official statements and comments. I will only say that there’s no greater reward after such an intense day than sitting on a plane and receiving a brief, dry confirmation from our diplomats in Poland that all processes in Zeshuv have just resumed. And, of course, watching the Russian information space erupt in chaos as they realized Ukraine had decisively seized the strategic diplomatic initiative and shifted the course of the game.

🇷🇺⚔️🇺🇦 Russia Skeptical of Ceasefire Proposal Without Guarantees – Reuters

The Kremlin may set conditions for accepting a 30-day ceasefire agreement, Russian government sources told Reuters.

Senior Russian officials emphasized that “any agreement must reflect Russia’s battlefield successes and Moscow’s concerns.”

“Russia would need to negotiate the terms of any ceasefire and receive certain guarantees. It’s difficult for Putin to agree to this in its current form. He holds a strong position because Russia is advancing,” one source stated.

As a result, Russia remains "skeptical" about the ceasefire proposal, according to Reuters.

Moscow has repeatedly stated that it seeks long-term peace solutions rather than a temporary pause in hostilities.

🇷🇺💬🇺🇸🇺🇦 First statements from the Kremlin on the US ceasefire proposals from Dmitry Peskov:

➡️Russia is closely studying the statements following the negotiations between the United States and Ukraine.

➡️Moscow assumes that Secretary of State Rubio and Trump's national security adviser Waltz will brief on the details of the negotiations in Saudi Arabia.

➡️Contacts are planned in the coming days, about which the Kremlin will inform.

➡️Russia does not want to get ahead of itself on the issue of the proposed ceasefire; it first needs to receive information from the United States.

➡️The Kremlin does not rule out that during contacts between Russia and the United States, the topic of a telephone conversation at the highest level may arise.

➡️A telephone conversation between Putin and Trump, if necessary, can be organized very quickly, while there are no agreements on it yet.

🐻 In other words - we will not be commenting on what others say about our business, if they have things to say - they can come and talk to us like adults

🇨🇳🇺🇦🇺🇸 China Accuses the U.S. of Exploiting the Ukraine Conflict for Its Own Interests – Media

According to reports, Beijing claims that Washington’s push for peace is merely a tool to advance U.S. interests rather than a genuine effort by the Trump administration. Media sources also note that the U.S. uses this rhetoric to pressure those who question its actions.

"The pursuit of peace is nothing more than a means for the U.S. president and his allies to mask their attempts to maximize American interests—and, when necessary, to weaponize it against any party that challenges their agenda," the report states.

🇺🇦 Ukrainian General in Charge of “North” Group Resigns Amid Russian Breakthrough

Lieutenant General Dmytro Krasilnikov, commander of Ukraine’s “North” operational group, has announced his resignation.

Krasilnikov told the media that he was dismissed by Syrsky on March 7—just before Russian forces broke through Ukrainian defenses in the Kursk region via a gas pipeline route, leading to the collapse of the frontline in that sector.

However, he stated that he was not given a specific reason for his dismissal.

📝On the Demonstrative Arrest of Perpetrators of Genocide in Syria📝

Against the backdrop of public outcry over the mass killings of Christians and Alawites, the 'authorities' of the country reacted as we expected - they arrested several militants whose faces appeared in the videos.

There is no reason to expect adequate punishment - in the "new Syria", the murder of Alawites is not considered a major crime, as the previous days have shown. And they were arrested by the same people who most likely participated in the purges themselves.

The demonstrative action was credited by the international community. Additionally, the self-appointed president Abu Muhammad al-Julani got a reason to rein in potentially dissenting militants, using the incident as a pretext.

❗️And then the members of HTS and other groups will continue to do the same thing, just more orderly and less publicly. And among them, most likely, will be those who are now being so demonstratively arrested.
