The head of the US Military Archdiocese, the bishop with direct authority over every Catholic chaplain in the armed forces, has declared the Iran war unjust ahead of an interview set to air on CBS this Easter Sunday.
Archbishop Broglio, one of the most conservative Catholic prelates in America, said the war "anticipates a nuclear threat rather than responding to realized danger" failing the Church's just war criteria. He told Catholic troops to "do as little harm as you can."
He also rebuked Pete Hegseth's invocations of Jesus to justify the war as "problematic," saying it's "hard to cast this war as something that would be sponsored by the Lord."
