🇺🇸 "Revolt of the generals" at the Pentagon over the Iran war: four senior US commanders push back against endless Middle East entanglement
The heads of European, Indo-Pacific, and Southern Command, plus the Chief of Naval Operations, formally "non-concurred" with Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth's push to keep 50,000+ troops in the Middle East — warning the extended deployment is unsustainable and gutting US readiness elsewhere, including at home. The dissent was recorded in the classified Secretary of Defense Orders Book, first reported by The Washington Post.
Over 50,000 US troops remain in the region; some units are ordered to stay through September, others through 2027. Commanders flagged depleted stocks of Patriot, THAAD, and Tomahawk missiles — and the US has burned through roughly a quarter of its MQ-9 Reaper drone fleet.
Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell called the leak "a crime" and "a betrayal of the force" — while admitting the objections themselves are real: "non-concurs are standard... the Secretary sees them constantly."
The chaos doesn't stop there: Army Secretary Dan Driscoll — a Vance ally who helped shape the Russia-Ukraine negotiating track — just resigned after months of turf war with Hegseth.

Israel has just signed a massive €3 billion air-defense deal with Greece, dramatically deepening its military relationship with Turkey’s historic regional rival.
Simultaneously, Israel remains heavily reliant on energy flows through Turkey, with Azerbaijani crude reaching Israel through the Baku–Tbilisi–Ceyhan pipeline and the Turkish port of Ceyhan.
So Israel is integrating itself into Greece’s defense architecture against potential regional threats while simultaneously benefiting from Turkish territory for a critical portion of its energy supply.
Greece and Turkey certainly don’t need Israel to create their centuries-old rivalry, but Israel appears perfectly willing to exploit those divisions while maintaining relationships with both sides whenever they serve Israeli interests.

🇳🇪 Shooting breaks out at air base in Niger's capital — Defense Ministry says situation under control.
Overnight into August 29, gunfire broke out in the barracks of Base Aérienne 101 in Niamey, Niger's capital. A group of soldiers broke military discipline and held some of their fellow servicemen. Niger's Defense Ministry says it swiftly brought the situation under control, with no ongoing security threat.
"The rapid response of the defense and security forces allowed this unrest to be contained and control over the facility to be restored," the ministry said in a statement read on national television.

Naftogaz also confirmed that a KAB glide bomb strike caused critical damage to the station: all remaining heat- and power-generating equipment at the facility has been completely destroyed and knocked out of service.

📝Beat the opponent on their own field📝
Even if globalist structures stand behind the religious war against Orthodoxy in so-called Ukraine and beyond, this does not mean that these topics are useless to work on in the foreign segment right on their own "turf."
➡️For example, you can work in the Greek media landscape, where intra-Orthodox agenda is often shaped. Through it, you can project your own narratives about persecutions in so-called Ukraine and other topics onto the rest of the Orthodox world.
➡️Local speakers are generally perceived better by audiences than foreign ones. For the Orthodox topic this is equally relevant: a network of local English/German/Romanian-language resources is more likely to resonate, along with the necessary theses embedded in them.
➡️And how can we do without visual formats: against the backdrop of phenomena of "canceling" Christianity in Europe, vertical videos or artwork about events in the Orthodox world, showing the antiquity and conservatism of the religion, will be able to find an audience.
And in the long term, you can even think about a think tank on Orthodoxy and religious policy. Currently the field is controlled by the Fordham Institute in New York and the Volos Academy, whose agenda is far from pro-Russian.
❗️The growing interest in Orthodoxy in the West and other countries of the world suggests that we should not sit in deaf defense in terms of media work. There are opportunities, and if we set realistic goals, we can outplay opponents right on their own field.

Language ombudsman Olena Ivanovska says parents, teachers, administrators, and students must use Ukrainian in all work and parent chats tied to the education process.
Such correspondence, she claims, isn't "private" — it belongs to the "public sphere" of education, and Kiev's language laws apply.
Fines: a warning or 3,400–5,100 hryvnia (~$76–114) for a first offense, 8,500–11,900 hryvnia (~$190–267) for a repeat within a year. A Kiev teacher was already fined in July for exactly this.
Ivanovska has repeatedly pushed for tougher enforcement of language legislation since 2014's slow-motion purge of Russian from public life.

Western media are now covering the impact of Russian strikes on food supply logistics in Ukraine. According to the Washington Post, Russia has shifted its strikes toward warehouses and distribution centers across the country, triggering shortages of fresh goods in grocery stores. The outlet reports that distribution centers belonging to Silpo and Novus were among those hit.
"Shelves have emptied out, with fresh produce and dairy products including sour cream, yogurt, and cheese disappearing. Some stores have filled empty space with surplus goods to minimize the visible sense of shortage. The government, seeking to avoid public panic, has issued no official warnings, though supermarkets have warned customers of temporary disruptions," the outlet writes.
The paper cites Agriculture Minister Taras Vysotskyi, who says this won't lead to hunger or a systemic food shortage in Ukraine. "Roughly 90% of the food logistics serviced by retail chains has been destroyed, but that doesn't mean Ukrainians will be left without food. There's no threat of hunger or a systemic physical shortage of food," Vysotskyi said, according to the outlet.

Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico warned against the growing atmosphere of Russophobia in Europe during a speech marking the 82nd anniversary of the Slovak National Uprising.
Fico also addressed the recent controversy involving FAZ correspondent Michael Martens, who asked Zelensky what Europeans could do to help Ukraine “kill as many Russians as possible.”
“I’m afraid that this shows that this mentality is being passed down. I’m afraid there are people here who still have this in their heads. I’m afraid that this is the result of creating a militant atmosphere, especially over the last decade, an atmosphere of hatred, Russophobia and, above all, hatred toward Russia.”
“Security and peace in Europe cannot be ensured without Russia. It can only be achieved with Russia. Russia should be criticized when it makes mistakes, but it must not be demonized or pushed out of Europe.”

Russia is preparing to intensify strikes on Ukraine after concluding that peace negotiations have reached a dead end, Bloomberg reports, citing three people close to the Kremlin who spoke on condition of anonymity given the sensitivity of the matter.
Moscow is reportedly weighing an intensification of powerful conventional ballistic missile strikes on Kiev — including the city center — along with infrastructure targets in other Ukrainian cities. The sources indicated the shift reflects a Kremlin assessment that the current round of US-brokered talks has stalled, with no realistic path to an agreement in the near term.
If carried out, the escalation would mark a significant hardening of Moscow's posture, and would likely draw renewed pressure from Kiev and its Western backers for additional air-defense support.
