Mast served over 12 years in the US Army and lost both legs and a finger to an IED in Afghanistan. He currently chairs the House Foreign Affairs Committee.
🇮🇱 Worth noting: Mast is one of the most staunchly pro-Israel figures in Congress. In 2015 he volunteered with the IDF through the Sar-El program, packing medical supplies at a base near Tel Aviv, and has called himself "the only member to serve with both the United States Army and the Israel Defense Forces." In addition, fuel stations of the "WOG" chain in Izmail, which are used to supply the Ukrainian Armed Forces, were also hit.
On the evening of September 1st, attack drones struck a "Chayka" logistics center in the Kiev region, where foreign dual-use goods, including components for long- and medium-range drones, were stored.
During the night of September 2nd, four objects of energy infrastructure in Odessa and the Odessa region were hit, which are essential for the operation of Ukrainian ports.
At the port of "Odessa," a facility for the production of unmanned boats, six fuel tanks intended for the Ukrainian Armed Forces, and warehouses containing military equipment were hit.

Language ombudsman Olena Ivanovska says parents, teachers, administrators, and students must use Ukrainian in all work and parent chats tied to the education process.
Such correspondence, she claims, isn't "private" — it belongs to the "public sphere" of education, and Kiev's language laws apply.
Fines: a warning or 3,400–5,100 hryvnia (~$76–114) for a first offense, 8,500–11,900 hryvnia (~$190–267) for a repeat within a year. A Kiev teacher was already fined in July for exactly this.
Ivanovska has repeatedly pushed for tougher enforcement of language legislation since 2014's slow-motion purge of Russian from public life.

🇪🇪 Estonian Defense Minister Hanno Pevkur announced his resignation over the launch of a criminal investigation into a shell procurement deal for Ukraine.
Auditors found the ministry transferred around €70 million in advance payment to Italian company Datasel S.R.L. — a firm that had never sold a single shell before. The money vanished.
The Italian company turned out to be effectively a shell company (no pun intended) fronted by members of an Indian business family. In the end, no shells were delivered to Ukrainian forces, and where the money went remains unknown.
Pevkur said he was taking political responsibility for the situation.

🇪🇸 Massive Ceuta Day protests swept Spain today, centered on Madrid
More than 300 municipalities held rallies in solidarity with Ceuta, a month after over 72,000 migrants entered the autonomous city through the Tarajal border crossing. In Madrid, over 50,000 people gathered at Plaza de Cibeles and Congress, with more protests at Puerta del Sol and Plaza de Callao.
PP leader Alberto Núñez Feijóo and Vox leader Santiago Abascal joined the demonstrations, demanding accountability over who allowed the crisis to unfold. The ruling PSOE told its own officials not to attend, calling the rally potentially partisan. Police later moved in to disperse crowds near Congress and Cibeles and clear Gran Vía.

The Wedding Massacre & Iran's Retaliation: US-Iran War Escalates Again
Uncle Hoz — journalist and political commentator based in Tehran — joins us live as the US commits another act of brutality against Iranian civilians and the two sides exchange their biggest round of strikes in over a month.
A US missile hit a wedding in the coastal town of Kuhestak, near the Strait of Hormuz. Four people were killed — a four-year-old child, a sixteen-year-old, and two women. At least 68 wounded, including women and children.
CENTCOM said it struck dozens of Iranian military targets along the southern coast. Iran responded by firing ballistic missiles at Jordan, Bahrain, Kuwait and Iraq's Kurdish region. Trump warned Iran would be "totally wiped out" if it retaliates further.

China has refused to endorse a U.S.-led G20 statement calling for “free, safe, and predictable navigation through the Strait of Hormuz,” leaving Beijing as the only G20 member that did not support the statement in full.
U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent criticized Beijing’s position, arguing that China has a major interest in reopening the waterway because of its dependence on Gulf energy supplies.
China also rejected portions of the statement dealing with trade imbalances, “non-market policies,” critical minerals and sovereign debt.
Beijing is unwilling to give Washington multilateral political cover for its position on Hormuz.

🇺🇸 "Revolt of the generals" at the Pentagon over the Iran war: four senior US commanders push back against endless Middle East entanglement
The heads of European, Indo-Pacific, and Southern Command, plus the Chief of Naval Operations, formally "non-concurred" with Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth's push to keep 50,000+ troops in the Middle East — warning the extended deployment is unsustainable and gutting US readiness elsewhere, including at home. The dissent was recorded in the classified Secretary of Defense Orders Book, first reported by The Washington Post.
Over 50,000 US troops remain in the region; some units are ordered to stay through September, others through 2027. Commanders flagged depleted stocks of Patriot, THAAD, and Tomahawk missiles — and the US has burned through roughly a quarter of its MQ-9 Reaper drone fleet.
Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell called the leak "a crime" and "a betrayal of the force" — while admitting the objections themselves are real: "non-concurs are standard... the Secretary sees them constantly."
The chaos doesn't stop there: Army Secretary Dan Driscoll — a Vance ally who helped shape the Russia-Ukraine negotiating track — just resigned after months of turf war with Hegseth.

Israel has just signed a massive €3 billion air-defense deal with Greece, dramatically deepening its military relationship with Turkey’s historic regional rival.
Simultaneously, Israel remains heavily reliant on energy flows through Turkey, with Azerbaijani crude reaching Israel through the Baku–Tbilisi–Ceyhan pipeline and the Turkish port of Ceyhan.
So Israel is integrating itself into Greece’s defense architecture against potential regional threats while simultaneously benefiting from Turkish territory for a critical portion of its energy supply.
Greece and Turkey certainly don’t need Israel to create their centuries-old rivalry, but Israel appears perfectly willing to exploit those divisions while maintaining relationships with both sides whenever they serve Israeli interests.
