👈یکی از کاربردهای کلمه " Ticket"
حتما می دانید یکی از معانی رایج کلمه ticket ‘بلیط’ است (بلیط سینما، تئاتر، مسابقات ورزشی...). یکی دیگر از معانی ticket که خیلی هم رایج است"برگه جریمه" است که اغلب در خصوص رانندگی استفاده می شود.

🧑‍🦰When I returned, there was a parking ticket under the windshield wiper.
🧑‍🦰وقتی که برگشتم یک برگه جریمه پارکینگ زیر برف پاکن بود.

‼️عبارت parking ticket به معنی برگه جریمه ای است که برای پارک کردن غیر قانونی صادر می شود. همچنین عبارت windshield wiper به معنی برف پاکن است.

👈خیلی اوقات از فعل get قبل از کلمه ticket استفاده می شود که به صورت get a ticket می شود؛ get a ticket به معنی ‘جریمه شدن’ است.

✴️ The snowman

👉It was nearly Christmas. Katie woke up and found that the world was white and magical.
“Snow!” she shouted, “Snow for Christmas!”
She ran outside and danced in the snow.
Her brother Eddie came out too. They made a big round snowball and a small one. They put them together and made a huge snowman.
“Hello.” he said. “It’s Christmas. Would you like a present?”
“Yes please!” they said.
The snowman waved his arms. Silver crystal snowflakes filled the sky. It was so beautiful.
“We must give you a present too,” said Katie.
They gave the snowman a carrot for a nose, a scarf for his neck, and a hat for his head.
“Happy Christmas!” they said.
The snow stopped and the sun came out. The snowman started to melt
“Goodbye” he said. “Build me again next year!”

👈تقریباً کریسمس شده بود. کتی از خواب بیدار شد و دید که همه‌جا سفید و جادویی شده.
او داد زد: برف اومده! برفِ کریسمس!
بیرون دوید و روی برف‌ها رقص و پای‌کوبی کرد.
برادرش اِدی هم بیرون آمد. آن‌ها یک گلوله برفی بزرگ و یک گلوله‌ی کوچک‌تر درست کردند. آن‌ها را روی هم گذاشتند و یک آدم‌برفی بزرگ درست کردند.
آدم‌برفی گفت: سلام. کریسمس شده. دوست دارید بهتون عیدی بدم؟
آن‌ها گفتند: بله، لطف می‌کنید.
آدم‌برفی بازوهایش را تکان داد. دانه‌های بلوری نقره‌ای‌رنگ برف آسمان را پر کرد. خیلی قشنگ بود.
کتی گفت: ما هم باید به تو عیدی بدهیم
آن‌ها هویجی برای بینی‌اش گذاشتند، شال‌گردنی به گردنش بستند و کلاهی بر سرش گذاشتند.
آن‌ها گفتند: کریسمس مبارک
برف بند آمد و آفتاب درآمد. آدم‌برفی شروع به آب شدن کرد.
او گفت "خدا نگهدار "، "سال دیگر دوباره من را درست کنید!

✴️Florence Nightingale

👉Florence Nightingale was a nurse who saved many lives in the 19th century. She was named after the city of Florence in Italy, where her parents went after they got married in 1818. Her family was rich and they had two homes in Britain as well as servants.
Florence was an unusual young woman for her time because she didn’t want to go to parties and get married. She wanted to be a nurse and help people. Her family didn’t want her to become a nurse because hospitals back then were dirty, horrible places. They were worried about her. In 1851, Florence went to Germany and learned all about nursing. It was hard work, but she loved it.
In 1854, lots of British soldiers went to fight in the Crimean War. Army hospitals were filled with injured men, but there were no nurses and many men died. Florence and a team of nurses went to help.
Florence worked 20 hours a day to make the army hospital a cleaner and safer place. She brought the men fresh food, she cleaned the hospital beds and she used clean bandages on the wounded soldiers. Soon, fewer men were dying.
At night, Florence walked around the hospital. She talked to the injured soldiers and helped the men to write letters to their families. She carried a lamp and the soldiers called her ‘The lady with the lamp’.
When Florence returned to England, people called her a heroine because of her amazing work in the Crimean War. Queen Victoria wrote her a letter to say thank you. She continued to work hard in Britain to improve hospitals and she was given a medal called the Order of Merit. She was the first woman to receive this honour.

در سال 1854 سربازان بریتانیایی بسیاری به جنگ کریمه رفتند. بیمارستان‌های ارتش مملو از مردان مجروح بود، اما هیچ پرستاری وجود نداشت و مردان بسیاری جانشان را از دست دادند. فلورانس و گروهی از پرستاران به کمک رفتند.
فلورانس 20 ساعت در روز کار کرد تا بیمارستان ارتش را به محلی پاکیزه‌تر و امن‌تری تبدیل کند. او برای مردان غذای تازه می‌آورد، تخت‌های بیمارستان را تمیز می‌کرد و از باند تمیز برای سربازان استفاده می‌کرد. خیلی زود تعداد مرگ و میر سربازان پائین آمد.
شبها، فلورانس در محوطه بیمارستان قدم می‌زد. او با سربازان زخمی گفتگو می‌کرد و به آنها کمک می کرد برای خانواده هایشان نامه بنویسند. او چراغی با خود می آورد و سربازان او را «بانوی چراغ به دست» نامیده بودند.
وقتی فلورانس به انگلستان بازگشت، مردم به دلیل کار شگفت‌انگیزش در جنگ کریمه، او را بانوی قهرمان نامیدند. ملکه ویکتوریا نامه‌ی تشکری برایش نوشت. او همچنان به کار سختِ بهبود بیمارستان‌ها در بریتانیا ادامه داد و مدالی با عنوان نشان شایستگی دریافت نمود. او اولین زنی بود که این افتخار نصیبش می شد.

‼️امریکایی ها در محاوره از When is" the last time" استفاده می‌کنن در حالی که بریتانیایی‌ها گفتن هرگز از عبارت "When is the last time" استفاده نمی‌کنن که نشون میده این جمله در انگلیسی محاوره‌ای امریکایی رایجه و نه بریتانیایی.
