FC Bayern München v Sport-Club Freiburg - Bundesliga Bayern Munich club legend Uli Hoeneß awards Harry Kane with the iconic torjägerkanone following an extremely successful first season at Die Rekordmeister. | Photo by Stefan Matzke - sampics/Getty Images The Harry Kane trophy curse is about to be lifted and Uli Hoeneß is here for it. Modern football has been peppered with many injustices. From a Bayern Munich perspective, Franck Ribéry losing out to Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi in the 2013 Ballon d’Or as well as the decision to deny Robert Lewandowski the same award in 2020, despite winning six trophies and breaking Gerd Müller’s record for most goals in a single Bundesliga season, come to mind. In addition to Ribéry and Lewandowski, Bayern have almost inherited another of football’s modern injustices with the signing of Harry Kane. Despite being among the greatest strikers in the last decade, at the age of 31-years-old the Englishman has still not won a major piece of silverware. However, with an eight point lead on Bayer Leverksuen with just three games left to play, it looks extremely likely that Harry Kane’s title curse is about to be broken, and no one is happier for the prolific striker than one of Bayern’s honorary presidents, Uli Hoeneß.“I don’t know if it’s already happening, but after last weekend, the likelihood of us doing it has obviously increased significantly. I wasn’t just happy about the win against Heidenheim, but of course—I’m now a friend of St. Pauli—I was also keeping my fingers crossed for St. Pauli to get something against Leverkusen. Hardly any of our players deserves to finally win a title more [than Harry Kane],” said the club legend (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). “He’s a player who came from abroad. And yet I still feel like he’s become a true FC Bayern player. He scores a lot of goals, but he also works hard for the team. If we win the title, which I very much hope, then he’ll have truly earned it.”One victory in the Bundesliga is all that stands in the way of Harry Kane and his elusive piece of silverware, and Bayern will have the chance to secure it as they take on RB Leipzig next weekend.

FC Bayern München v 1. FSV Mainz 05 - Bundesliga Photo by Alexander Hassenstein/Getty Images Bayern Munich is one step closer to the league title... Bayern Munich is this close to clinching another Bundesliga title and midfielder Aleksandar Pavlović is thrilled to see his squad perform like it during a 3-0 victory over Mainz 05. “We’re happy with the game; we dominated for 90 minutes, and we’re now one step closer to our goal. I’m doing very well, I feel good, and we had a lot of fun today. Now the focus is on the next game in Leipzig,” said Pavlović (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). For Pavlović, it must have also felt good to get back and rolling on the right track after dealing with injuries and illnesses for the better part of six months. The youngster still have an incredible amount of potential, but needs a little luck with his health. For the game. Pavlović completed 75 of his 79 passes (95%), including four of five longballs, while also winning four of six ground duels, and only losing possession four times. Clearly, this match was a step in the right direction for both Pavlović and Bayern Munich alike.

1. FC Heidenheim 1846 v FC Bayern München - Bundesliga Photo by M. Donato/FC Bayern via Getty Images jOnas Urbig has made quite an impression at Bayern Munich... Bayern Munich goalkeeper Jonas Urbig has been extremely impressive in filling in for injured starter Manuel Neuer. Obviously, people have noticed the youngster’s performances, including Bayern Munich board member for sport Max Eberl. “Jonas is a very talented goalkeeper and exactly what we had in mind with this decision. He has shown very good performances in recent weeks, has great potential, and has replaced Manu very well,” Urbig told kicker (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). Eberl was at the forefront of signing Urbig from FC Köln and the youngster has delivered on his vast promise. Whether he can ultimately succeed Manuel Neuer is still up for debate, but the 21-year-old did nothing to make anyone think that he could not at least contend for the position. Chelsea FC v Legia Warszawa - UEFA Conference League 2024/25 Quarter Final Second Leg Photo by Harry Murphy - Danehouse/Getty Images Looking to replace the Ramdeuter already? Harsh.. Bayern Munich is about to witness the end of an era with Thomas Müller set to leave the club, but it looks like they’re already gearing up to replace him. Bayern is identifying potential targets to play in the second striker position, or if needed an attacking midfielder behind Jamal Musiala on the depth chart, and per a report from @iMiaSanMia, Christopher Nkunku is one of them. Nkunku is on the verge of leaving Chelsea in the summer, and the report suggests that Bayern Munich could snap him up once he becomes available. However, the report also says that Arsenal FC could potentially be interested, and may be competition for Die Rekordmeister, although whether or not Nkunku would be willing to join a London rival is a different story. Fans are concerned that the Frenchman plays in the same position as Musiala and Florian Wirtz- two explosive youngsters that, if everything is true, could link up in the coming seasons for Bayern Munich. If Wirtz does end up joining Bayern, signing Nkunku may be redundant. What do you think? Would this be a good signing? Or as one fan commented, would it just be a French Gnabry situation? Let us know in the comments!

FC Bayern Muenchen Training Session And Press Conference - UEFA Champions League 2024/25 League Phase MD8 Photo by Alexander Hassenstein/Getty Images The reports of Sane’s extension have now turned sweeter if true. Bayern Munich have reportedly extended Leroy Sané for a bargain. The news does not stop there. The German winger has also gone on to reject a €25m salary package from Al-Ittihad, the table topper in the Saudi Pro League. Sané’s decision to not only take a pay cut but also reject a big money move to the Oil-Leagues shows a certain determination. To prove himself where he has fallen short of the high standards for a player of his quality.Leroy Sané has been one of the Bayern winger stock due for a transfer at the end of this season. Kingsley Coman, Sané and Serge Gnabry have done themselves no favours with their performances on the field. Comparing that to the humongous wages paid to the trio, it no longer makes footballing sense to continue in that direction.A sale was on the cards and to be honest, there hasn’t been much buzz in the market for them. Such scenarios usually lead to offers from the MLS or lately, from Saudi. The Saudi Pro League has poached up players at the end of their careers to add their spark to their league.Sané is reportedly also been the subject of interest from the middle east. A report by Bild (via @iMiaSanMia) has revealed that Al-Ittihad, the current table leader in the Saudi Pro League had offered a 25m wage package for the German’s services. However, Sane has rejected that offer. He has instead chosen to take a pay cut and stay at Bayern, knowing he may not be the first choice on the wings. That in itself shows a certain determination and drive to redeem himself. Let’s hope it goes well for all parties involved.

Bayern Munich - FSV Mainz 05 Photo by Peter Kneffel/picture alliance via Getty Images No title. Not yet. Bayern Munich stomped all over Mainz 05 in a breezy 3-0 win on Saturday as the German Rekordmeister edges ever closer to reclaiming the Bundesliga crown.Bayer Leverkusen’s 2-0 win over FC Augsburg ensures the title race is not quite over yet, but with three games to go, Bayern would need to lose all three, while Leverkusen would have to win out. There’s still a chance, though it would require an epic collapse.Let’s talk about the game and the Bayern performance. There were half-shaky moments to be sure, including in the second half when Mainz had their chance to turn a 2-0 deficit into a contest. But they never took them, thanks in part to confident saves from Jonas Urbig. And Bayern, while it could have scored more, did everything it needed to.Fairly routine for Bayern but no title clinch. Chance to do it next week in Leipzig but will have to do it minus suspended Kane. Thanks as ever if you watched on the world feed.— Derek Rae (@raecomm.bsky.social) 2025-04-26T15:44:22.320ZEven the big blooper of the day — Harry Kane taking himself out of the Leipzig contest needlessly by contesting a free kick with seconds to go in first half stoppage time — has only individual consequence.I’ve got the Bavarians at a 9.0/10 in this one. FC Bayern München v 1. FSV Mainz 05 - Bundesliga Photo by Sebastian Widmann/Bundesliga/Bundesliga Collection via Getty Images Getting closer. Bayern Munich’s 3-0 win over Mainz 05 was as routine as it gets. After a surprising 2-1 road loss in December in the reverse fixture the Bavarians sorted themselves out and dominated — with ease — a good if out-of-form Mainz side. The Rekordmeister was led from the front to the back by strong individual performances, although some — like Leroy Sané, who managed to hit the post twice from superb scoring positions — were unlucky. It was also a 500th Bundesliga appearance for Thomas Müller and a debut for Jonah Kusi-Asare. Neither player had a chance to do much in the game’s closing minutes, though. In the end it was a 3-0 win and one step closer to the title. FC Bayern München v 1. FSV Mainz 05 - Bundesliga Photo by Christina Pahnke - sampics/Getty Images Things are not done...yet. Just a few short days ago, a report from Bild stated that Bayern Munich had reached an agreement with Leroy Aziz Sané on a new contract. The 29-year-old’s contract is running out in 2025, but the new terms were apparently going to keep the Germany international at the club until 2028. But, lo and behold, not every rumors is true. Speaking after Bayern Munich’s 30 victory against FSV Mainz in the Bundesliga, Max Eberl, Bayern’s board member for sport, refuted the report and claims that an agreement had been struck with Sané:“What you read is not true,” Eberl said, as captured by @iMiaSanMia. “We haven’t reached an agreement and haven’t signed a contract yet. But it’s no secret that we’re in talks. We’ll see what happens.”If something happens, it will have to be soon. The former Schalke 04 player only has around two months left on his contract, at the time of writing. Looking for more thoughts and analysis of Bayern Munich’s Bundesliga triumph over Mainz 05 ? FC Bayern München v 1. FSV Mainz 05 - Bundesliga Photo by Harry Langer/DeFodi Images/DeFodi via Getty Images Reading between the lines here, there’s a good reason why Sané is about to sign a new, three-year deal... Bayern Munich will have to wait at least another week to officially be crowned Bundesliga Champions due to Bayer Leverkusen’s 2-0 win over Augsburg, but the German Rekordmeister took care of business at the Allianz Arena, beating Mainz 3-0. Goals from Leroy Sané, Michael Olise and Eric Dier put the ribbon on what was a dominant performance from Vincent Kompany’s side, worthy of being able to lift the Meisterschale in front of the home support, but they will have to wait until next weekend to get their hands on the silverware assuming they don’t lose to RB Leipzig. On the overall balance, Bayern out shot Mainz 14-8 and there were arguably more gaps in the second half when Kompany had to take off Kim min-Jae at halftime for Sacha Boey and slightly reconfigure the back line. Even with that said, Bayern was always the more dangerous side throughout proceedings and Sané’s 27th minute opener after a lovely bit of dribbling was the byproduct of pressure that had already been mounting on Mainz’s goal.Speaking after the match, Kompany was asked about Sané’s contract situation, as the most recent rumor rumblings have suggested the club is ready to give the winger a new, three-year contract extension on reduced wages. “We had a lot of discussions over contracts this season and I’ve always been respectful for all parties. Leroy and his people have to sit with the club and make a decision together. For me what matters is what the guys show on the pitch. That’s how I assess them. If they play that means they did something right, if they don’t play that means others were better,” the Belgian manager explained, insinuating that recent spike in minutes is a result of his positive performances (via @iMiaSanMia). Borussia Mönchengladbach v FC Bayern München - Bundesliga Photo by Oliver Kaelke/DeFodi Images via Getty Images It has long been understood that Sané’s desire is to stay at Bayern and that he knows he would have to take a wage cut to be able to stay. The latest signals have suggested a three-year offer has already been written up for the winger, and Kompany diplomatically explained that it is essentially just a formality at this point. It is clear that the manager appreciates the run of positive performances the winger has put together. So far this season, Sané has tallied 12 goals and five assists from 42 appearances across all competitions, and he has really only worked his way more regularly into the starting lineup in the second half of the season. During most of the first half of the season, his appearances came off of the bench. Looking for more thoughts and analysis of Bayern Munich’s Bundesliga triumph over Mainz 05 ? FC Bayern München v 1. FSV Mainz 05 - Bundesliga Photo by Christian Kaspar-Bartke/Getty Images The team is clearly reacting well to the shock exit. Bayern Munich quite recently found themselves knocked out the Champions League, handed a loss by Inter Milan, but have not let that get to them yet. After a strong 3-0 win over FSV Mainz 05 in the Bundesliga, the team is looking forward to yet another domestic title in their cabinet. “We expected that. We played two good games and showed that we can rely on everyone. I wasn’t surprised,” said Thomas Müller when he was asked about how strongly Bayern Munich reacted to their exit from the UCL (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). “I wasn’t surprised either. We can be happy today, we controlled most of the game - except some moments where we lost the ball a bit too easily. We could’ve scored more goals,” was Serge Gnabry’s reaction to the same question, both showing the classic Bayern Munich classic winning mentality. It looks like the club has already moved on from their miserable loss in Milan, and is now entirely focused on securing that Bundesliga trophy.Looking for more thoughts and analysis of Bayern Munich’s Bundesliga triumph over Mainz 05 ? FC Bayern München v 1. FSV Mainz 05 - Bundesliga Photo by Alexander Hassenstein/Getty Images Quality of performance is relative to the quality of your opposition. Following its 3-0 victory over Mainz 05, Bayern Munich edges ever closer to lifting the Bundesliga title, with the visitors doing little to stop Bayern’s march to glory. Despite the defeat, Mainz coach Bo Henriksen remains positive about aspects of Mainz’s performance against the league leaders. After the match, Henrikson spoke about his side’s performance (captured via FCBayern.com), saying, “Of course we’re disappointed [with the result], but we turned in a good display. We didn’t have to lose 3-0 even though Bayern were better. Bayern were very efficient today. If so, any team will lose here. I’m very proud of the performance, it isn’t easy to play here. Bayern were very strong, but we tried everything.”Mainz attacker Paul Nebel expressed a similar sentiment but noted that his team has areas to improve, explaining that, “Sometimes you’re in [a difficult] period in football, then it’s about working your way out of it together. We did a lot of things well, but there’s also a lot we must improve.”Mainz has managed a truly impressive campaign thus far, sitting seventh in the table and only one point off European places. FC Bayern München v 1. FSV Mainz 05 - Bundesliga Photo by Christian Kaspar-Bartke/Getty Images Kane could miss out on the Bundesliga celebrations...but he is still one of many that got the Bavarians here. Bayern Munich head coach Vincent Kompany is not too worried about Harry Kane. The Bayern striker managed to earn a yellow card in the first half of Bayern’s 3-0 win over Mainz on Saturday, which leaves him suspended on yellow card accumulation for next week’s match at RB Leipzig — which is when Bayern may confirm their status as this year’s Bundesliga champions.“It’s not ideal, but we play 34 games in the season,” Kompany declared after the match in comments captured via @iMiaSanMia. “Guys like [Jamal] Musiala, [Alphonso] Davies, [Dayot] Upamecano, [Hiroki] Itō who are not there, also have to celebrate the title when it’s won. It doesn’t make a big difference for Harry and doesn’t change anything on what he did this season.”Kane has 24 goals and eight assists in 28 Bundesliga matches this season (26 starts), figures that are slightly down from last year. But it is the team result that will matter more — both for Kane and for Bayern. His absence could be an opportunity, too. FC Bayern campus striker Jonah Kusi-Asare subbed on for Kane for his senior team debut in the closing minutes against Mainz — and the 17-year-old could be poised for some more minutes soon.Looking for more thoughts and analysis of Bayern Munich’s Bundesliga triumph over Mainz 05 ? Turbine Potsdam v FC Bayern Munich - Google Pixel Frauen-Bundesliga Photo by Boris Streubel/Getty Images Mia San Meisterinnen! The Bayern Munich Frauen are the winners of Frauen-Bundesliga for the sixth time in club history! With a 3-1 win over Freiburg, they clinch the title — and a three-peat — with two matchdays to spare. The players celebrated on the pitch with the traditional giant glasses of Weissbier — both drinking and throwing it on each other. As for the match itself, Bayern broke the deadlock with a goal in the 21st minute. Pernille Harder blasted a ball into the box and Lea Schüller was able to redirect it past the keeper for a goal. The celebrations did not last long. Just eight minutes later, Freiburg leveled the match with a great goal from Fölmili. The title celebrations really got going in the 67th minute when Harder scored the second Bayern goal. Klara Bühl sent a nice ball from a corner to the back post that found Harder unmarked to easily tap it in. In the 79th minute, Bayern’s captain Glodis Viggosdottir — who just subbed on minutes before — scored after another corner after the ball pinged around in the box a couple times. The chant of “Deutcher Fussballmeister FCB” rang out proudly through the Bayern campus.Bayern will look to complete the double on Thursday when they face Werder Bremen in the DFB-Pokal der Frauen in Cologne.

St. Pauli vs Bayer 04 Leverkusen - 1.Bundesliga Photo by Ulrik Pedersen/NurPhoto via Getty Images The Bayer Leverkusen man is leaving on a free transfer. Where next? Bayern Munich could have a chance again with Jonathan Tah after all.The German men’s national team defender is leaving Bayer Leverkusen on a free transfer at the end of the year, which naturally has FC Barcelona interested...but the Catalans have not been able to get the deal over the line, because — and please take a big swig of your nearest beverage before reading this — of the club’s ongoing financial issues. Here is the situation as reported by Sky Sport DE journalist Florian Plettenberg: Jonathan #Tah has had a verbal agreement with FC Barcelona for several weeks. However, nothing has been signed yet, as the transfer cannot be completed at this stage. If the move to Barca falls through, major opportunities could arise. Real Madrid (in the event Xabi Alonso arrives this summer) and FC Bayern are keeping a close eye on him. Bayern have internally revisited the situation in recent days and Real like him a lot. Also worth noting: Alonso and Tah share a strong relationship.@SkySportDE Barça has Hansi Flick while Real Madrid could land Xabi Alonso. And Bayern remain the German record champions. It looks like the 29-year-old will have his pick of next destinations.Maybe Lothar Matthäus gets his wish.

Crystal Palace FC v AFC Bournemouth - Premier League Photo by Shaun Brooks - CameraSport via Getty Images Departures in Bavaria are needed first, which could give Premier League clubs the upper hand. Bayern Munich’s search for a new center-back with left-footed ball-playing ability could be landing on the ambipedal Bournemouth star, Dean Huijsen. But the 20-year-old is a hot commodity on the transfer market, and Bayern cannot yet commit to a play for him — without shifting one of its own current center-backs. That’s according to a report from Sky Sport DE journalist Florian Plettenberg: FC Bayern have held partly concrete talks with Dean #Huijsen’s management in recent weeks. Max Eberl is fully informed about all the details. As previously reported, Bayern are exploring the market for a new top centre-back. Jonathan #Tah has also been discussed again.Huijsen is currently one of FC Bayern‘s top candidates – but only in the event of departures (e.g. Kim). That’s why Bayern cannot push ahead in negotiations at this stage. Other clubs are further along, with Liverpool and Chelsea, for example, showing more concrete interest. #LFC However, Huijsen can well imagine a move to Bayern. The race remains open. €58m release clause.@SkySportDE At €58M, Huijsen’s release clause should not be an obstacle for any of the deep-pocketed clubs interested. But Bayern’s inability to move just yet could be a problem, as Huijsen ultimately needs to be convinced by his next club first.Looking for more thoughts and analysis of Bayern Munich’s Bundesliga triumph over Mainz 05 ? FC Bayern München v 1. FSV Mainz 05 - Bundesliga Photo by Alexander Hassenstein/Getty Images Bayern Munich took down Mainz 05 with ease... Die Folgen: Bayern’s 3-0 win over Mainz (Bavarian Football Works)Bayern Munich looked like it was going to have a tough match against Mainz 05, but the Bavarians were just too much for the visitors. At a time where Bayern Munich just simply needs to take care of business, the Bavarians are rolling through teams. Let’s dive into it. Here are some quick hitters on the match: As always, let’s begin with a look at the starting XI: Here it is...

Your #FCBM05 starting line-up! ⚪️ pic.twitter.com/i67t3zQskq— FC Bayern (@FCBayernEN) April 26, 2025The injury to Raphaël Guerreiro necessitated a few moves. First, Josip Stanišić needed to play left-back, which opened up room for banged up center-back Kim Min-jae to return to the starting XI. Otherwise, Aleksandar Pavlović got the nod in the central midfield, which was an astute move by Vincent Kompany. The youngster needs playing time and took advantage of the opportunity. Kompany also leaned on the trio of Michael Olise, Leroy Sane, and Serge Gnabry to run the attack with Harry Kane. Needless to say, Kompany’s selections worked out against a Mainz 05 side that has lot its midseason mojo. Bayern Munich was dominant from the outset. Mainz 05 still had its fighting spirit and worked like hell, but could not keep up with the Bayern Munich midfield and attack. In the 14th minute, Stanišić took a nice run at half volley, but sent it wide. Moreso than many matches of late, Bayern Munich really did seem to be playing with a purpose, and even though the Bavarians did not clinch the Meisterschale on Saturday, it is very clear that the championship mentality is there with this group. The 27th minute goal from Sané was the product of some great work by Gnabry, Laimer, and Sané himself. It was a perfectly placed shot for the winger, who reportedly agreed to a new three-year-contract. In the 40th minute, Olise continued his standout season as he ripped a low, bouncing shot that fooled Robin Zentner and gave Bayern Munich a 2-0 lead. Olise has established himself a “must start” player for Bayern Munich. Kane’s yellow card in added time of the first half was a gut punch. The Englishman could now miss being in the field for the clinching of his first trophy. Jonas Urbig was really solid again. It does look like Bayern Munich got its man (even if he physically profiles closer to Marc-André ter Stegen in height than Manuel Neuer). Sané’s chip in the 62nd banged off the post. That really would have been the icing on the cake for the winger. Leon Goretzka might have asked Péter Gulácsi who his doctor was (deep cut). Eric Dier’s 84th minute header from Michael Olise corner was authoritative and had to feel great for the center-back. Overall, Bayern Munich was dominant and did a terrific job of limiting Mainz 05’s chances. In a weird way, the Bavarians look more dangerous and lethal these days than they have in quite a long time. It is good to see now, but also for the future. Hopefully, the squad can continue this run of play, clinch the title, and end the season with everyone feeling positive. A release clause in the 20-year-old’s contract allows him to be signed for £50m in the summer, and it is believed that as well as interest from rival Premier League clubs, Real Madrid are considering a move for him — though the LaLiga side’s decision hinges on whether they decide to sign a centre-back in the next transfer window or wait until next January. FC Bayern München Training Session Photo by T. Kilian/FC Bayern via Getty Images The overpriced signings never clicked at Bayern. Thomas Tuchel’s reign at Bayern Munich was short-lived, fractured, and arguably doomed from the start. After an ugly midseason exit from Chelsea, Tuchel was only unemployed for six months. Despite a reasonable amount of success, Julian Nagelsmann was dismissed by Bayern in March 2023 and immediately replaced by Tuchel.Tuchel’s sole summer transfer window at Bayern consisted of him complaining about Bayern’s depth and getting zero assistance from the board. The club generated over €100M from player sales which was primarily used on acquiring Harry Kane and Kim Min-jae.Between injuries and a lack of rotation, Bayern’s cupboards were scarce by the January transfer window. According to a Sport Bild report (via @iMiaSanMia), two of those transfers will be reversed in the summer of 2025.Sacha Boey and Bryan Zaragoza, both signed before Max Eberl joined the club, are now both considered failed transfers. Bayern are determined to offload them this summer.Zaragoza only made seven total appearances for Bayern before being loaned out to Osasuna. It is likely that a decent chunk of his €15M transfer fee can be reimbursed through a sale.Boey is a different story. His €30M acquisition price will be incredibly difficult to recover, considering he has only made 13 appearances for Bayern over 18 months and has been a major liability on the pitch the entire time.

FC Bayern München v 1. FSV Mainz 05 - Bundesliga Photo by Christina Pahnke - sampics/Getty Images A 3-0 win and a clean sheet ain’t nothing to sneeze at. Harry Kane may be missing out on next week’s potential Bundesliga clincher at RB Leipzig, but the Bayern Munich striker still played a big role in his team’s strong 3-0 win over Mainz 05 on Saturday.“It was an important victory today, that’s the main thing. On Saturday we’ll have the big chance to win the title,” Kane said in post-match comments captured by FCBayern.com. “It was a big step today. I’m happy with the result and the match. “We were under pressure today, people talked as if we had already won the title, but you must go out there and deliver against opponents against whom we lost earlier this season. I think it was a top performance, we allowed them very few chances. To score three goals and keep a clean sheet is a good performance.”Indeed, the last time Bayern faced Mainz in December, it resulted in head coach Vincent Kompany’s first Bundesliga defeat. The 7th-placed side in the league after this result, Mainz is a team that has been in the hunt for European places this year, although the recent downturn leaves Die Nullfünfer in a precarious position.Bayern, meanwhile, looks like a team rounding into form and finishing strong after its recent Champions League setbacks.Looking for more thoughts and analysis of Bayern Munich’s Bundesliga triumph over Mainz 05 ?
