The IDF has stated that the building was used to carry out "ambushes" on the IDF and "served as an escape route". Tunnels were also allegedly established beneath the building.

📝 Note: The building is approximately 2km away from the closest IDF advancement in the area, and cannot possibly have been used for ambushes anytime since the last Gaza city offensive last year.
