The opening of the crossing is conditioned on the return of all living hostages and 100% effort by Hamas to locate and return all fallen hostages.

The IDF is currently conducting a focused operation to exhaust all intelligence information obtained in the effort to locate and return the final fallen hostage Ran Gvili. Upon completion of the operation and in accordance with the agreement with the US, Israel will open the Rafah crossing.
