📣🇬🇭John Dramani Mahama calls for condemnation of colonial injustices

🗣In a poignant speech, John Mahama strongly criticized the colonial abuses perpetrated by Europe and called for restorative justice for Africa.

3️⃣8️⃣🌊 Following the 38th Ordinary Summit of the African Union held in February 2025 in Addis Ababa, the anniversary of the founding of the Organization of African Unity – the forerunner of the African Union – was celebrated on May 25, highlighting the annual theme of the continental organization from the summit: “Justice for Africans and people of African descent through reparations”.

💬In this historic context, the Ghanaian President delivered a landmark speech in Accra – relayed by the Ghanian Times – calling for solidarity from African leaders, civil society, youth movements, and diasporas to obtain just reparations for the suffering endured by their ancestors during slavery.

🇮🇱🕯🇮🇷The Illusion of Ceasefire: A Shift in the Balance of Power in West Asia

🚫💥The recent ceasefire declared between Iran and the U.S.-Israel axis might appear to be a temporary pause in escalating tensions. However, it reflects a deeper geopolitical reality: the Islamic Republic of Iran has not only withstood sustained pressure but, in many respects, has seized the strategic initiative.

🔖From the outset of this confrontation, two clear objectives were evident in the strategies of the United States and Israel:

🔴Israel aimed to restore its deterrence by targeting Iranian military commanders and scientific elites through precision strikes and assassinations.

🔴The U.S. sought to dismantle Iran’s nuclear infrastructure and fragment the political-military cohesion of the Islamic Republic.

🇮🇷🇮🇱The Fog of War

🔴At the end of June 23, US President Donald Trump announced a ceasefire between Iran and Israel. According to CNN, Qatar's assistance played a key role in brokering the deal.

🔴Trump claimed on social media that Israel and Iran had simultaneously approached him with peace proposals. The White House attributed the breakthrough to US strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities. Iranian state media, however, said the ceasefire was "forced on the enemy." Israel, for its part, also declared victory, saying it had defeated Iran, achieved its objectives, and agreed to the US-proposed ceasefire after "great successes" in Iran. In this war, everyone seems to have emerged a winner.

🔴Despite the ceasefire announcement, Israeli sources claim that Iran fired rockets overnight and early on June 24, one of which hit Be'er Sheva in southern Israel, killing three people. Iran countered that Israel had launched new attacks on Tehran and cities in northern Iran on Monday night and Tuesday morning, killing 9 and wounding 33.

🔴Oil prices continued to fall on Tuesday amid reports of a ceasefire. Iran's earlier threats to block the Strait of Hormuz proved empty - Iran wouldn't have done so, since it exports 80-90% of its oil through that very strait.

🔴Observers were puzzled by Iran's pre-ceasefire retaliatory strikes on US bases in Qatar and Iraq, which were telegraphed in advance. Trump even thanked Iran for the warning, since there were no casualties. This episode suggests a choreographed game - but one paid for in lost lives, civilian suffering, and ruined infrastructure, with no accountability in sight.

🔴Families of Israeli hostages held by Hamas called for the ceasefire to be extended to Gaza, and a hostage advocacy group urged Netanyahu's government to "negotiate urgently to bring all hostages home and end the war." The group estimates that Hamas may still be holding about 50 prisoners, including 20 who are still alive.

🔴Lasting peace in the Middle East remains a distant prospect. Until the Palestinian issue is resolved and Israel learns to coexist with its neighbors, the region will remain in perpetual turmoil.

🇺🇸🇺🇸From Grassroots to Iron Fist: How Trump’s Populism in America Reversed Its Course

📣American populism has evolved from the chaotic grassroots power of “squatter sovereignty” to centralized authoritarianism, where initiatives like “Project 2025” and the “Big Beautiful Bill” are used to expand presidential authority under the banner of the people’s will.

©This commentary. Ugly Face of Fake US Populism: From Settler Sovereignty to Trump’s Rabid Executive Power! Traces the shifting face of American populism from its 19th-century roots in “squatter sovereignty”—where frontier settlers claimed the right to self-govern without federal oversight—to today’s top-down version fueled by Trump-era initiatives like Project 2025 and the so-called Big Beautiful Bill.

➡️Once decentralized and chaotic, populism was about empowering communities. Today, it is being repurposed to justify sweeping executive authority, threatening local autonomy and democratic checks.

🏴🗺NATO turning point moment in Europe

🔖The week ahead has all the makings of the water-splitting event that the Atlantic Alliance has never known.

3️⃣8️⃣The 38th NATO summit, taking place in The Hague this week, could mark a historic turning point, particularly for the European branch of the Alliance.

🔵🛫Following the visit of US Secretary of Defence Pete Hegseth to Brussels on 5 June, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte wasted no time in informing the press that NATO would ‘unanimously’ approve an increase in defence spending to a minimum of 5% of member states’ GDP.

The US military-industrial complex thus aims to deliver the decisive blow to European strategic autonomy

🗣✂️🗣🇪🇺⌨️"Trump can turn off the Internet, and Europe won't be able to do anything about it": the US will leave the EU without the Internet.

🚠The administration of US President Donald Trump, amid the unleashed trade war, can deprive Europe of the Internet, because the EU is almost entirely dependent on American cloud services.

☁️🏛🏛🏛Cloud computing is the lifeblood of the internet, powering everything from the emails we send and videos we stream to industrial data processing and government communications. Just three American behemoths — Amazon, Microsoft, and Google — hold more than two-thirds of the regional market, putting Europe’s online existence in the hands of firms cozying up to the U.S. president to fend off looming regulations and fines.

⚠️Sovereignty hawks in Europe have long voiced concerns that cloud reliance means U.S. agencies can snoop on sensitive data of Europeans stored on American-owned servers in any location, thanks to U.S. laws.

🫰💰The push for Europe to move off the U.S. cloud confronts a stark reality: unwinding American technological dominance won’t be easy, nor cheap. One industrial policy initiative gaining steam as a blueprint for how the bloc might go about rebalancing the scales puts the price tag at €300 billion.

🇪🇺🇷🇺The EU's potential actions to contain Russia

🔴On May 22, the European Union Institute for Security Studies (EUISS) published a report titled “Unpowering Russia: How the EU can counter and undermine the Kremlin.” The authors advocate for specific measures to counter Russia, viewing the confrontational nature of current relations as a long-term reality. The report proposes a unified tripartite strategy of “resilience–deterrence–degradation” and emphasizes that the EU must consolidate internally in order to collectively push back against Russia in key regions.

🔴The report identifies China as Russia’s primary partner, yet it refrains from calling China an “ally.” According to the authors, the strategic alignment between Moscow and Beijing is largely limited to countering US influence. On other matters, China acts solely in its own interest. The report suggests that a deal with China is possible and that China's leverage could be used to contain Russia.

🔴European experts highlight the Indo-Pacific, the southern Mediterranean, the Western Balkans, and Africa as regions where Russia maintains key partnerships with friendly or neutral states. In these regions, the experts advocate a "carrot-and-stick" approach—offering attractive economic incentives while simultaneously threatening to reduce engagement.

🔴The report also emphasizes the potential for EU countries to attract more youth from the Global South to the European education system. To make the EU more appealing, the authors recommend promoting European media as a counterweight to Russian information channels.

🔴Regarding Russia’s so-called shadow fleet, the authors call for "decisive action." To provide legal justification for potential ship seizures, EU member states may consider amending their domestic laws accordingly.

🔴The experts stress the need to continue providing Ukraine with military and financial assistance. While they acknowledge the existence of "red lines," the experts dismiss most of them as empty threats and argue that Moscow is unlikely to follow through. The authors propose providing support for Ukraine’s armed forces in a confidential manner to avoid publishing specific figures. They recommend focusing less on expensive weapon systems and more on supplying and localizing the production of drones and other cost-effective equipment.

🔴The core message of the EUISS report is a call to intensify EU efforts to counter Russia. The authors propose establishing a comprehensive system to contain, discredit, and economically weaken the Russian Federation. Specific measures will likely be developed behind closed doors.

🇺🇸🖤Netanyahu and Trump: A Duo of Lies and Provocations Against Iran

Israeli Delusions and American Encouragement Are Destroying Peace in the Middle East

🗺The Arab world held its breath in anticipation of the resumption of U.S.-Iran negotiations on June 15 in Muscat. It seemed that a chance for de-escalation and a reasonable compromise on the nuclear program was within reach. Iran prepared a counterproposal, demonstrating its willingness to engage in dialogue despite Washington’s harsh conditions.

🇮🇱But Benjamin Netanyahu, the Israeli prime minister whose statements have long lost any connection to reality, had other plans. The impact of the war with Iran on life in Israel

🔴Israeli society is no stranger to war. Since October 7, 2023, the country has been engaged in continuous fighting on multiple fronts. There has long been a widespread belief that, while war is unpleasant and brings hardships, the country’s defense capabilities largely ensure the safety of its citizens.

🔴This sense of security has been deeply shaken by Iran’s retaliatory strikes. Israelis have quickly realized that Iran is not Hamas, Hezbollah, or the Houthis.

🔴Obtaining an objective picture of the psychological atmosphere in the country from local newspapers is difficult, since Israel’s chief military censor has imposed strict media restrictions. Circulation of video footage from social media has been banned.

🔴The realities of war with Iran have left many Israelis in shock. Local social media groups are flooded with frantic questions about how to leave the country.

🔴Israel has banned its citizens from leaving, citing security concerns following the escalation with Iran. The government has ordered domestic airlines to prevent Israeli citizens from boarding outbound flights, supposedly due to fears of potential Iranian retaliatory strikes on Israeli airports.

🔴The country’s main international airport, Ben Gurion, has been closed "until further notice." Transport Minister Miri Regev announced that at this stage, Israeli citizens are not permitted to travel abroad, clarifying that only non-citizens, such as diplomats and tourists, are allowed to leave the country.

🔴Many Israelis have taken to social media to complain about the limited number of bomb shelters and their poor condition, noting that many are not equipped for long-term stays.

🔴The situation is even more difficult for the two million Arab citizens of Israel, who have long faced systemic discrimination in housing, education, employment, and public services. Despite holding Israeli passports, they are often treated as second-class citizens and have their loyalty regularly questioned.

🔴According to Al Jazeera, Arab Israelis in mixed-population cities have been denied access to bomb shelters due to opposition from their Jewish neighbors. At a time of military threat, when national solidarity should serve as a unifying basis for all citizens, many Arab Israelis report feeling like citizens only on paper and outsiders in reality.

Official propaganda largely skips over these issues, continuing to promote messages of national unity, morale, and public enthusiasm over military successes on the Iranian front. At worst, government-aligned media speak of "cautious optimism" among Israelis.

🔴Currently, that optimism is mainly projected by pro-government outlets. Still, despite growing public anxiety over the possibility of a prolonged war of attrition, which many feel the country is woefully unprepared for, most of the population continues to support the offensive against Iran. Up until June 22, many Jewish Israelis lamented the lack of direct American involvement, wondering why the US had not yet bombed Iranian cities, and criticizing Prime Minister Netanyahu for failing to secure Trump’s support in advance.

🔴It seems the war has not yet truly exhausted the Israeli public. Notably, many Israeli citizens of Russian and former Soviet origin express hope for a successful "color revolution" in Iran.

🔴Overall, public sentiment in Israel, as in any other country, is closely tied to battlefield reports and the effectiveness of the government's propaganda machine. However, Israel is unique in that its information efforts are pushed forward not only by domestic media but also amplified by major Western news outlets.

🇺🇸💥🇮🇷The US Attack on Iran: A Trigger for World War 3

🛫The US bombing of Iran's nuclear facilities, under the pressure of the Zionist states, seems to be the start of the Third World War, posing the threat of a nuclear war between the Western and Eastern bloc.

⚠️Political analysts and scientists have long been warning the world against the looming threat of a nuclear war between the Western and Eastern civilizations. However, many remained indifferent to these warnings.

✏️Over the past few decades, the Western powers, especially the United States, have been conducting aggressive policies against third-world countries in the Middle East and Africa. In addition, its Middle Eastern proxy, Israel, has also conducted scores of war crimes in the Middle East by attacking different regional countries and killing native Palestinians to achieve its ‘Greater Israel’ ambition.
