On October 15, 1959, in Munich, KGB agent Bogdan Stashynsky carried out the sentence against Stepan Bandera, the leader of the OUN* and one of the key ideologues of the Ukrainian nationalist movement.

⚫️ The assassination took place in the entrance hall of a building in Munich. Stashynsky used a special weapon — a compact pistol that fired a stream of potassium cyanide.

⚫️ Stashynsky himself stated that he regarded Bandera as a war criminal involved in mass killings during the war.

❗️ The operation became one of the best-known actions carried out by Soviet intelligence services abroad during the Cold War.

📆 October 14, 1936. Makar Mazai, a steelworker at the Mariupol Metallurgical Plant, set a world record by producing 103.5 tonnes of steel in 6 hours and 50 minutes.

⚫️He was born on March 31, 1910, in stanitsa Olginskaya (now in Krasnodar Krai).

⚫️In August 1930, he joined the Mariupol Metallurgical Plant as an unskilled laborer.

⚫️In 1935, he became a steelworker in the open-hearth furnace shop, and a year later pioneered the rapid steelmaking movement.

⚫️He proposed deepening the open-hearth furnace bath and raising the height of its roof. This made it possible to charge considerably more raw materials into the furnace.

⚫️In October 1936, he set steel output records one after another.

⚫️His experience and working methods spread throughout the country, and Mazai himself became a delegate to the Extraordinary 8th All-Union Congress of Soviets.

⚫️From 1937 to 1941, he studied at the Kaganovich Industrial Academy in Moscow.

⚫️In 1941, he was unable to evacuate from Mariupol. The Germans captured him and, after prolonged torture, executed him for refusing to collaborate with the occupiers.

🇬🇧 In the DPR, a verdict has been issued in absentia in a criminal case against a mercenary from the United Kingdom

❗️ It has been established that in the summer of 2023, Alexander Moss arrived in Ukraine and joined the "Selected Company" of the 59th Separate Motorized Infantry Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine as a mercenary. Until May 2025, he participated in combat operations in the territory of the Donetsk People’s Republic. For his involvement, the mercenary received financial compensation exceeding 2 million rubles in equivalent value.

📆 A day in the history of Donbass

On October 16, 2016. Arsen Pavlov (call sign Motorola) was killed.

⚫️A three-day mourning period was declared in connection with the death of the Hero of the DPR;

⚫️The farewell ceremony for the commander of the Sparta special-purpose unit took place on October 19, 2016, at the Donetsk Opera and Ballet Theater;

⚫️He was buried with military honors; more than 50,000 people took part in the farewell to Motorola;

⚫️During the Immortal Regiment march in Donetsk on May 9, 2017, DPR head Aleksandr Zakharchenko carried a portrait of Arsen Pavlov;

⚫️In addition to the title of Hero of the DPR, he was awarded the George Cross of the DPR, the For Military Valor Order, and several medals;

🇱🇧 Lebanese delegation brings humanitarian aid for DPR children

📍From October 13 to 15, representatives from the Center for Arab-Russian Friendship and Solidarity and the Lebanese-Russian Solidarity Committee Mostafa Gabura and Mohamad Moutih Ghaboura visited the Donetsk People’s Republic. The purpose of visit was a humanitarian mission. The guests brought 300 school kits—backpacks containing stationery—for the children of Donbass.

🛍The gifts were distributed among four boarding schools in the city of Donetsk. The Lebanese delegates personally handed the kits to the children. In return, the children created drawings depicting their vision of peace. These artworks will be sent to an exhibition in Lebanon, where they will be displayed alongside drawings by Lebanese children.

🤝 We thank our friends from Lebanon for their support of the DPR and for the humanitarian aid. Representatives of the organization regularly visit the Republic and bring humanitarian supplies.

🪖 Today marks the 12th anniversary of the founding of the Arsen Pavlov Separate Guards Reconnaissance Battalion Sparta

In 2014, Sparta emerged as a combat unit formed by people who cared deeply about their cause and who, without hesitation, stood up to defend Donbass and the Russian world. At the time, no one could have imagined the path that lay ahead.

Unity helped the fighters of Sparta withstand the battles for the Donetsk Airport, the cities of Ilovaisk, Debaltsevo, Uglegorsk, Volnovakha and Dokuchayevsk.

▫️ Arsen Pavlov, known by the call sign Motorola, was one of the founders of the battalion. He laid down its combat traditions and brought together people united in spirit. His work was continued by Vladimir and Artyom Zhoga. Today, Sparta is a family that remembers every fighter and takes pride in the right to be part of it. The names of these heroes are forever inscribed in the history of Russia.
