Sometimes a person is not tired of life. They are tired of the role they have been playing.
Over the years, they become what others need them to be.
Reliable.
Reasonable.
Strong.
Helpful.
Calm.
With time, they play that role so well that everyone begins to believe that is who they truly are.
Including themselves.
And then something strange happens.
The more they are needed, the less they are seen.
People see their patience, but they do not see their exhaustion.
They see the smile, but they do not see the effort it takes to wear it.
They see someone they can always count on.
They do not see the person who sometimes wishes someone would simply ask if they are okay.
This is one of life's quietest tragedies.
We teach the world to expect our strength.
And then the world stops noticing that we have limits too.
Not because people are cruel.
But because they have grown accustomed to it.
Accustomed to the fact that you will always answer the phone.
That you will always help.
That you will always cope.
That you will always be there.
Until one day, you discover something painful.
That many people did not love you as much as they loved the comfort your presence gave them.
And suddenly, a question appears—one that frightens us more than loneliness itself:
If I stopped being needed, how many people would still stay?
It is a painful question.
Because it is not really about others.
It is about us.
About how many times we built our worth on being needed.
How many times we gave more than we had.
How many times we said "yes" while everything inside us was crying out "no."
Not because we wanted to be good.
But because we were afraid of being left behind.
Perhaps that is why so many people are exhausted today.
Not from work.
Not from responsibilities.
Not even from problems.
They are exhausted from constantly trying to earn their place in the lives of others.
Yet true love, true friendship, and true closeness begin only where a person no longer has to work for them.
Where they no longer have to prove anything.
Provide anything.
Earn anything.
Where they can sit beside another person with empty hands and still be welcomed.
I think this is what the world is missing most today.
Not more success.
Not more achievements.
Not more ways to become something greater.
But places where a person discovers that they never had to become more than they already are in order to deserve presence, respect, and love. ❤️
