π₯The House Judiciary Committee on Tuesday launched an investigation into Spotify over concerns the music and streaming platform could be censoring free speech, The Post has learned.
Censorship has been a point of tension for Spotify, which has faced heated backlash for flagging COVID-19 information from podcaster Joe Rogan and banning Steve Bannon from the platform.
In a letter sent to Spotify CEO Daniel Ek, US Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) slammed recent laws from the EU and UK that require social media platforms β even those based in the US β to censor βdisinformationβ and βharmful contentβ or face massive fines.
The committee ordered Spotify to preserve documents and all contact with foreign governments, as well as individuals linked to the White House, and provide this information to the House by Aug. 12, according to a letter obtained by The Post.

The inscription, etched into a rock face near the so-called Sinai 357 in Mine L, is part of a collection of over two dozen Proto-Sinaitic texts first discovered in the early 1900s.Β
These writings, among the earliest known alphabetic scripts, were likely created by Semitic-speaking workers in the late 12th Dynasty, around 1800BC.Β
Bar-Ron, who spent eight years analyzing high-resolution images and 3D scans, suggested the phrase could indicate authorship or dedication linked to a figure named Moses.
According to the Bible, Moses led the Israelites out of slavery in Egypt, and is famously known for receiving the Ten Commandments from God on Mount Sinai. But no evidence of his existence has ever been found.

Ghislaine Maxwell seeks to postpone Epstein testimony before Oversight committee
Ghislaine Maxwell, a convicted co-conspirator of the deceased sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, is asking to postpone her scheduled congressional deposition β and making a series of other demands as conditions of her cooperation with Hill investigators.

The proposed Environmental Protection Agency rule rescinds a 2009 declaration that determined that carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases endanger public health and welfare.
The βendangerment findingβ is the legal underpinning of a host of climate regulations under the Clean Air Act for motor vehicles, power plants and other pollution sources that are heating the planet.
EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin announced the proposed rule change on a podcast ahead of an official announcement set for Tuesday in Indiana.
Repealing the endangerment finding βwill be the largest deregulatory action in the history of America,β Zeldin said on the Ruthless podcast.
Zeldin called for a rewrite of the endangerment finding in March as part of a series of environmental rollbacks announced at the same time in what Zeldin said was βthe greatest day of deregulation in American history.β' A total of 31 key environmental rules on topics from clean air to clean water and climate change would be rolled back or repealed under Zeldinβs plan.
He singled out the endangerment finding as βthe Holy Grail of the climate change religionβ and said he was thrilled to end it βas the EPA does its part to usher in the Golden Age of American success.β'

NEW: The Manhattan shooting gunman had a suicide note in his back pocket alleging that he suffered from CTE, a brain disease linked to head trauma, and expressed grievances with the National Football League, according to a source with knowledge of the investigation.
In the note, he also asked for his brain to be studied.
The gunman has been identified by police as 27-year-old Shane Devon Tamura from Las Vegas. Police said Tamuraβs motives are still under investigation, and that he had βa documented mental health history.β
Tamura was a competitive football player in his youth, multiple sources told CNN.
The short note was scribbled over three pages and found by investigators after the shooting, the source said.
βTerry Long football gave me CTE and it caused me to drink a gallon of antifreeze,β the shooter wrote, according to the source. βYou canβt go against the NFL, theyβll squash you.β
Terry Long, a former football player for the Pittsburgh Steelers, was diagnosed with CTE. He died by suicide after drinking antifreeze in 2005.
