A decades-old court order that blocked the federal government from using tests to measure job applicantsβ skills was terminated by a D.C. judge on Friday, setting the stage for an overhaul of the federal workforce that could be one of President Donald Trumpβs most lasting achievements.
In 1981, Angel Luevano sued the federal government over the Professional and Administrative Career Examination, a test that helped identify the best and brightest out of the tens of thousands who apply for government jobs each year. Luevano argued that the test kept too many blacks and Hispanics out of government, and, in the waning days of President Jimmy Carterβs administration, OPM agreed to pause the test for five years.
Forty-four years later, the βLuevano Consent Decreeβ was somehow still intact. In January, the Trump administration filed a brief challenging the agreement β a feat which required reopening a decades-closed court case in which the original judge had died. The administration argued that it was doubtful the decree was ever appropriate, and that, with Supreme Court case law outlawing affirmative action, it was certainly not now.
Angel Luevano is still alive, and agreed to terminate the consent decree, court papers show. Luevano was represented by lawyers from Hispanic and black civil rights groups, two of whom did not return a request for comment.

You have no idea just how much the Democratic Party has to rely on non-citizens and illegal aliens to inflate their legislative districts.
Just look at this. Nearly 25% of this Blue district's population in the Virginia House of Delegates are "non-citizens".
These people get to be counted in the census and then end up being allocated in Congressional and State Legislative districts, which artificially expands the Left's electoral power.

The vote was 50-45 as Republicans muscled enough votes to approve Pirro as the permanent U.S. attorney in Washington D.C.

A Department of Homeland Security memo obtained by TNR signals top-level discussions about a potential escalation of the Pentagonβs domestic anti-immigration role, and lays out new details.
President Donald Trump has already enmeshed the United States military in domestic law enforcement operations involving immigration to an unprecedented degree. He has authorized a major military buildup at the border. He has maximized the use of military planes for deportations, complete with the White House pumping out imagery of migrants getting frog-marched onto souped-up military aircraft. He sent the National Guard into Los Angeles amid large-scale protests thereβand then sent in the Marines.
The memo lays out the need to persuade top Pentagon officials to get much more serious about using the military to combat illegal immigrationβand not just at the border. It suggests that DHS is anticipating many more uses of the military in urban centers, noting that L.A.-style operations may be needed βfor years to come.β And it likens the threat posed by transnational gangs and cartels to having βAl Qaeda or ISIS cells and fighters operating freely inside America,β hinting at a ramped-up militarized posture inside the interior.
The memo was authored by Philip Hegsethβthe younger brother of Defense Secretary Pete Hegsethβwho is a senior adviser to Homeland Security secretary Kristi Noem and DHS liaison officer to the Defense Department. As such it also sheds light on Hegseth the Youngerβs role, which has been the subject of media speculation labeling him an obscure but influential figure in his brotherβs MAGA orbit.
The upshot seems to be that DHS is urging top Pentagon officials to prioritize using the military against illegal immigration to a substantially greater and unprecedented degree, and that discussions are underway to accomplish that, with Defense Secretary Hegsethβs blessing.
