Of those one thousand plus victims, only a handful sent in letters to the courts taking a position on the unsealing. While they did offer support for disclosure, including the grand jury materials, their support was conditional.
They were very concerned about potential threats to their safety, privacy, and dignity. If those things could not be protected, they did not support unsealing or further disclosures.

For what itβs worth, I was the last option until about a handful of months ago because, adulthood. π
But holy cow, do I find myself using it every day now.
This entire exercise by Trumpβs DOJ to unseal grand jury materials proved that thereβs nothing in these grand jury materials a) worth unsealing (itβs all largely public anyway, thereβs no βthereβ there, and b) that can be unsealed (no exceptions met and not a βspecial circumstance.β
I reckon that was the point of it all. To demonstrate bias the courts that the grand jury materials did not contain some as yet undisclosed client list or evidence of third party involvement or any significant non public information.
This leaves the βtroveβ of materials that DOJ assembled during their comprehensive investigation of the cases and DOJs handling of them as the next target for disclosures.
Apparently at least some of those materials are now being handed over to Congress.
I suspect what they receive will be largely duplicative of the information that has already been made public over the years. Nothing new. Nothing extraordinary.
I donβt expect significant revelations or that the baseline conclusions of DOJβs July 6 memo will be contradicted.
Judge Bermanβs decision in Epstein, like Judge Engelmeyerβs in Maxwell, is lawful, reasonable, and well explained in the filing.
But βnobody knows how anything worksβ, and lawful, reasonable, well-explained rulings only compel the minds of the people who actually read them.
Grifty, dishonest, reactionary influencers and outlets rely on their audiences NOT reading these filings so that they can successfully click- and outrage-bait them into emotionally reeeeeee-ing, clicking, and viewing their uninformed content.

We can all be better than that and we can all have more regard for the dozens of confirmed victims and, according to DOJ, over one thousand victims of Epstein and Maxwell who are thankful that these materials remain sealed.
Iβm very much doubt that they are thrilled that Congress has gotten itself involved now.

βAll told, Democrats lost about 2.1 million registered voters between the 2020 and 2024 elections in the 30 states, along with Washington, D.C., that allow people to register with a political party,β the report adds. β(In the remaining 20 states, voters do not register with a political party.) Fifteen law enforcement agencies join forces to crack down on child predators
COVINGTON, La. (WVUE) - North shore law enforcement leaders came together Tuesday (Aug. 19) to announce an initiative to crack down on child sexual predators, a problem they say has been growing with the help of social media apps.
Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill said sex crimes against children has grown by 1,200 percent in Louisiana, and is increasing in St Tammany Parish.
Across the state, the attorney generalβs office received around 18,000 child predator tips last year.
βStrangers are communicating with our children inside their own bedrooms and their own homes,β Murrill said. βIβm calling on everyone to contribute to solutions to this problem.β

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem is pushing for Immigration and Customs Enforcement to use an influx of funds to buy, own and operate its own fleet of airplanes to deport immigrants, two sources familiar with the discussions told NBC News. Former officials said that ICE owning and maintaining its own planes would be costly but could make it easier for the agency to potentially double the number of people it deports each month.
ICE uses charter planes to deport immigrants and has done so for years. The agency has typically chartered eight to 14 planes at a time for deportation flights, according to Jason Houser, who served as ICE chief of staff from 2022 to 2023. He said that allowed the Biden administration to deport roughly 15,000 immigrants per month on charter flights.
βIf the goal is to get to 30 to 35,000 removals a month, you would need to double the number of planes,β Houser said, or purchase roughly 30 planes.
With a guaranteed set of 30 or more planes, ICE wouldnβt be constrained by the limits of the companies it contracts with, which charter their planes to multiple clients.
