The woman who provided critical evidence that allowed federal prosecutors to charge Jeffrey Epstein with sex trafficking of minors in 2019 is speaking out publicly for the first time, urging lawmakers to release records related to the convicted sex offender to help his victims heal.
Sources say Marina Lacerda, 37, was identified in Epstein's 2019 indictment as "Minor-Victim 1" and provided key information that helped prosecutors put the sex offender behind bars.
Speaking publicly for the first time in an interview with ABC News, Lacerda called on the Trump administration to release their records related to Epstein and encouraged other survivors of abuse to come forward
"I would like for them to give all the victims transparency, right, to what happened and release these files. It's also not only for the victims, but for the American people," Lacerda told ABC News' Linsey Davis regarding Epstein, the wealthy financier and convicted sex offender who died by suicide in a New York jail in 2019.
Federal investigators first contacted Lacerda in 2008, but Epstein secured a controversial and once-secret non-prosecution agreement with federal prosecutors before she could tell a grand jury about her allegations of childhood sex abuse. Investigators returned to Lacerda more than ten years later, using her experiences to build a case that charged Epstein with sex trafficking minors in New York.

NEWβΌοΈ: A newly released congressional video fills a one-minute gap in earlier surveillance from notorious financier Jeffrey Epsteinβs jail unit on the night of his 2019 suicide.
Two key clips, part of a nearly 34,000-file drop by the House Oversight Committee Tuesday night, revealed the highly contested minute missing from surveillance footage filmed outside Epsteinβs cell block in the Metropolitan Correctional Center.
The disputed minute lasted from 11:58:59 on August 9, 2019, to midnight on Aug. 10, 2019.
The new drop from the House committee shows the camera data switched at about midnight, leading to a necessary binding of the two clips for a consecutive video.
Fox News Digital combined the two clips after the latest release on Tuesday, showing there was indeed no lapse in footageβcontradicting Attorney General Pam Bondi's previous explanation that the last minute of footage is deleted every night.
It is unclear why the footage disappeared, though the minute that was missing from the original drop did not reveal any action inside the jail block.

Washington, D.C. Democratic Mayor Muriel Bowser on Tuesday released a new order that creates a path forward between the city and federal law enforcement as the end of President Donald Trump's emergency declaration looms.
Trump launched the federal takeover last month, which gave him a 30-day limit that ends next week without Congressional approval. The emergency declaration created the Safe and Beautiful Task Force, deployed National Guard troops and took control of the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) in order to cut down on crime in the district and clean up the city.
Bowser's order will continue the Safe and Beautiful Emergency Operations Center (SBEOC) that was created to oversee the district's response to the task force. The order also asks federal officials to comply with the city's policing practices, such as not wearing masks on duty, clearly identifying their agency and providing identification during arrests.
"Trust between community and law enforcement is central to our city's safety," Bowser posted on X. "We're requesting that federal agents adhere to effective community policing practicesβnot wearing masks, clearly identifying their agency, and providing ID during arrests and encounters with the public."

JUST INπ¨: The top Republican in Congress investigating Jeffrey Epstein has urged the Treasury Department to hand over files on the late sex offender and financier.
House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer, R-Ky., sent a letter to Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent on Sunday asking the Trump administration to hand over any Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) it may have regarding Epstein.
Comer has been reviewing the investigations of Epsteinβs 2019 death in federal custody while awaiting a sex trafficking trial, searching for additional methods to combat child trafficking and probing potential ethics violations among elected officials.
SARs are created by financial institutions and sent to the Treasury to flag potentially dubious transactions that may indicate criminal activity, like fraud, money laundering or terrorist financing.
The Treasury's Financial Crime Enforcement Network (FinCEN) is tasked with investigating SARs and potential crimes, and Comer says he wants to investigate potential mismanagement.
Comer gave the secretary a deadline of September 15 to hand over the relevant SARs.

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent on Monday said that the Trump administration is mulling the declaration of a national housing emergency in an effort to address high housing prices and limited inventory.
"We may declare a national housing emergency in the fall," Bessent told the Washington Examiner in a Labor Day interview.
Bessent reiterated that interest rate cuts by the Federal Reserve would be helpful for bringing housing prices lower, but also acknowledged in the interview that the Trump administration could take other steps aimed at expanding the supply of housing as well as alleviating certain costs.
Bessent opted against listing the executive actions that President Donald Trump could take if the White House declares a national housing emergency, but told the Examiner that officials are evaluating ways to standardize local building and zoning codes as well as decrease closing costs.
