OpenAI is preparing a standalone social app powered by its Sora 2 video model, according to Wired. The app βclosely resemblesβ TikTok with a vertical video feed and swipe-to-scroll, but only features AI-generated clips β users canβt upload from their camera roll.
Wired reported thatΒ Sora 2 will generate clips of 10 seconds or less inside the app, though limits outside the app are unclear. TikTok, which started with a 15-second cap, now allows 10-minute uploads. The app will also offer identity verification, letting Sora 2 use a personβs likeness in generated videos. Others can tag or remix that likeness, but OpenAI will notify users whenever itβs used β even if the video isnβt posted.
Wired adds the software will refuse some videos due to copyright, but protections may be weak. The Wall Street Journal reports rights holders must opt out to keep their content from appearing in Sora 2βs outputs.

MAHAπ₯: Walmart said Wednesday that it plans to remove synthetic food dyes and 30 other ingredients, including some preservatives, artificial sweeteners and fat substitutes, from its store brands sold in the United States by January 2027.
The move announced by the the nationβs largest retailer amounts to an acknowledgment that American consumers and the U.S. government under President Donald Trump are paying attention to what goes into packaged foods. Walmart said its goal would affect about 1,000 products, including salty snacks, baked goods, power drinks, salad dressings and frosting.
Several of the ingredients on Walmart's removal list, however, already are banned, not widely used or have not been used in the U.S. food supply for decades. Others were included despite no known problems or have been targeted by the Trump administration for review and possible elimination as an approved food additive, according to food safety experts.
Still, the action represents a βsweeping declaration and a considerable response to consumer demand and sentimentβ for fewer additives in food, said Brian Ronholm, director of food policy for the advocacy arm of Consumer Reports.

Newly uncovered emails from Jeffrey Epsteinβs personal Yahoo account shed light on how alleged victims were exploited to recruit other women, according to a Sept. 12 report.
Epsteinβs emails, spanning more than 20 years but concentrated between 2005 and 2008, revealed the convicted sex offenderβs thoughts and methods regarding the women he allegedly targeted, according to a Bloomberg report.
The emails shed light on Epsteinβs alleged recruitment tactics, showing how his female associates regularly sent him photos and profiles of young women β including details about their age, personality, jobs, ethnicity and physical appearance, according to screenshots obtained by Bloomberg.

ICYMI: Authorities in Poland have arrested a Ukrainian man in connection with the bombing of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline.
Local media reports named the suspect as βVolodymyr Zβ, not giving his complete last name, a year after German prosecutors issued a warrant, describing him as a diving instructor based in Poland.
βI confirm that he has been arrested. Procedures are under way,β Piotr Skiba, the Warsaw regional prosecutorβs office spokesman, told the AFP news agency.
The man is suspected of being one of the divers who planted the explosive devices in an operation that also involved a married couple who ran a diving school.
German authorities say that in September 2022, the suspect sailed to the Baltic Sea on a yacht called the Andromeda, from which he dived underwater and placed the explosive on the pipeline, according to RMF FM.

I want to be treated more gently than I deserve.
IMO, we need to stop dehumanizing each other and show each other mercy and grace.
There are reasons we all think like we do. It's important we all acknowledge and understand why we think like we do.
Americans disagree about fundamental things, but we are not enemies. I believe we are being pitted against each other and played as pawns.
We need to keep conversations ongoing if we are ever going to unite and heal.
UPDATE: Authorities have identified the gunman responsible for the deadly attack at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Grand Blanc as 40-year-old Thomas Jacob Sanford, a resident of Burton, Michigan.
Sanford, a U.S. Marine veteran who served in Iraq from 2004 to 2008, according to social media posts by his family, launched a violent assault on the congregation late Sunday morning.
Investigators say Sanford drove his Chevy Silverado into the churchβs entrance before opening fire with a semi-automatic rifle on worshippers inside.
At least two people were killed and nine others wounded in the attack, with authorities warning the death toll could rise once investigators are able to fully search the building.
Hundreds of worshippers had been inside at the time.
