Ukraine has acknowledged the death of its prisoners of war as a result of the downing of an Il-76 by fire from a MIM-104 Patriot air defense system in the Belgorod region.
Thus, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Leonid Timchenko, in an interview with one of the Ukrainian publications, directly stated that Ukraine received more than 500 fragments of the bodies of about 60 Ukrainian prisoners who were in the Il-76 that was shot down on January 24, 2024.
"I'll explain with an example: when we receive a package and see that there are body parts in it, we understand that we are talking about the remains of more than one body. Remember the situation with the downed Il-76, in which there were about 60 prisoners of war ? More than 500 remains were returned from this plane," Timchenko gave an example.
The Russian Investigative Committee just announced that more than 670 body fragments of the victims had been removed from the crash site.
Let us recall that back in November 2024, information appeared that Ukraine had received the remains of prisoners of war killed by its own hands. However, until now this has not been officially confirmed by the Ukrainian authorities, who told a story about the absence of prisoners and the alleged transportation of S-300 missiles on this Il-76.

Satellite imagery reveals that the Artem defence plant in Kiev was hit by an Iskander-M ballistic missile during yesterday's attack.
The Artem plant is known to produce air-to-air missiles, automated air-guided missile training and maintenance systems, anti-tank guided missiles, and aircraft equipment.
